Chapter 202: Chapter 202: Filing a Complaint 1
Zheng Yun, like a headless housefly, bumbled around before finally getting access to the desktop with a ding after inputting Old Sir Zhong’s birthday.
As soon as the system finished booting up, a "ding-dong" signaled the arrival of a new email.
She thought it was the same message from before and let out a small sigh of relief, hastily opening up the email software.
However, she discovered two suspicious emails.
Opening the most recently received email made her feel even worse.
Wan Chu’er had actually sent a separate email to Yan Hui!
"What are you doing?"
A sudden voice descended from above like a bolt of lightning, striking Zheng Yun’s flustered and angry heart, making her shudder.
When she looked up, she saw Yan Hui staring at her coldly.
"Mr. Yan, you’re back?" Zheng Yun’s heart raced as she desperately tried to think of how to spin this situation.
Yan Hui paid no attention to her question and continued to ask coldly, "What are you doing? Please leave there immediately."
Although he had no fondness for Zheng Yun, he acknowledged her work ability; she had made substantial contributions to the company several times. He had thought it best to keep work and personal life separate, which is why he hadn’t refused to have Zheng Yun as his assistant.
However, aside from trivial matters, he had never allowed Zheng Yun to use his computer, let alone when he was not present.
So when he returned and saw Zheng Yun sitting behind his desk and operating his computer, he felt a wave of disgust.
It was time for a new assistant.
Seeing the displeasure on Yan Hui’s face, Zheng Yun’s heart skipped a beat, but she was determined not to let Yan Hui see the email.
It must be said that Zheng Yun herself had a rather formidable mental fortitude; even in such a situation, she maintained her composure while explaining:
"Mr. Yan, I can explain this matter to you."
Her hands didn’t stop moving; she pressed the delete button to erase both emails. Only then did she stand up, walk away from the desk, and approach Yan Hui.
Yan Hui watched her with no expression on his face.
"Mr. Yan, our partner KPG company needed some data that only your computer had. Since KPG was in a hurry, I took the liberty of entering your office."
Standing in front of Yan Hui, Zheng Yun made up an excuse, thinking that Yan Hui would never stoop to verifying something trivial like whether KPG had actually made a request or not.
Facing Zheng Yun’s explanation, Yan Hui didn’t react at all and simply stated, "From now on, you’re no longer my assistant. HR will reconsider your new position."
Zheng Yun was stunned; she didn’t expect Yan Hui not to inquire about the data KPG wanted but to dismiss her outright.
"Mr. Yan, please be rational. Don’t act on impulse. I was doing this for the good of the company."
Zheng Yun tried to appear calm, continually telling herself not to panic at this crucial time.
"Mr. Yan, if it’s because my work is inadequate, or my ability isn’t up to par, I can accept your decision to replace me, but if it’s for some personal reason, I won’t accept it. Although you founded the company, it doesn’t just belong to you; it belongs to every employee of the company. You can’t be so capricious..."
"Get out!"
Yan Hui’s face was devoid of warmth as he coldly threw out those two words, freezing Zheng Yun on the spot.
"Mr. Yan..."
"Get out!" Yan Hui said more emphatically.
Zheng Yun bit back, "I hope you can consider it carefully," and then walked towards the door.
Just as she reached the entrance, Yan Hui’s phone rang. She paused subconsciously, praying that it wasn’t some unobservant employee reporting the email incident to Yan Hui.
Yan Hui glanced at the phone number. Although there was no caller ID, he recognized it was Wan Chu’er’s.
A flicker of confusion passed over his face—how did Wan Chu’er get his number?
Just as he was about to put the phone to his ear, he caught sight of Zheng Yun standing by the door, and his expression turned even colder.
"Miss Zheng, do I need to have security escort you out?"
Receiving Yan Hui’s loathsome gaze, Zheng Yun’s heart sank like a stone in ice water, and she said somewhat awkwardly, "I’m sorry," before leaving his office.
Once the door closed, no further sound could be heard; the soundproofing on the executive floor was among the best in the world.
She was dazed for a few seconds before quickly regaining her composure.
Wan Chu’er!
She wouldn’t blame her for being ruthless.
Inside the office, Yan Hui answered the phone.
"Hello, is this Mr. Yan? This is Wan Chu’er."
Yan Hui: "...Yes, it’s me. How did you get my number?"
Hearing Yan Hui’s voice, Wan Chu’er paused. Didn’t he know that their company’s network had been hacked by her?
Shouldn’t such a big incident have been reported to the BOSS?
Wan Chu’er evasively asked, "Mr. Yan, I just sent two emails to your inbox. Didn’t you see them?"
Yan Hui immediately thought of Zheng Yun using his computer and calmly replied, "I just got back to the company and haven’t had time to check the computer yet. What’s the matter?"
No wonder, so he was out of the office.
Then Wan Chu’er bluntly said, "Mr. Yan, you’ve really put me in a terrible spot—you owe me compensation!"
Yan Hui: "...Let’s hear it."
Although he was perplexed, thinking of how Wan Chu’er might look on the other end of the line brought a hint of amusement to him.
Wan Chu’er rattled off everything Zheng Yun had done to her, not missing a single detail, and then said:
"Because of you, I’ve lost my scholarship, the title of Outstanding Student, and I’ve been labeled ’morally corrupt.’ How am I supposed to face anyone at school now? You have to take responsibility for this."
Hearing all this, if what Wan Chu’er said was true, he would have to kick Zheng Yun out of the company.
After pondering, Yan Hui spoke seriously, "I’ll verify the facts, and if it turns out my actions have caused you loss, I will take responsibility."
Wan Chu’er, seeing his reasonable attitude, hesitantly confessed her recent actions as well.
"It was an impulsive decision made in anger; I was being threatened by Zheng Yun with total ruin—I couldn’t just do nothing. But you can be assured, I haven’t seen any confidential information from your company. I only sent an email to all the staff, found your phone number, and since your company reacted so quickly, I didn’t have time to do much. I’ve already cleaned up all traces."
It was easy to trace what she had done, better to confess proactively, to give Yan Hui a heads-up than to be reported.
Yan Hui, upon hearing her, was both astonished and amused.
