Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time -
Chapter 175 - 173: Thoughts
Chapter 175: Chapter 173: Thoughts
Yang Fan was left unable to save face by Wan Chu’er’s merciless rejection. He stared at Wan Chu’er and asked, "Is your boyfriend a fellow student at our university?"
He thought Wan Chu’er was just deceiving him, so she made up a so-called boyfriend. If it really was made up, Wan Chu’er might just follow his lead and admit that he is indeed from the same university. Then, when he further inquired about which male student it was, Wan Chu’er would surely give herself away.
Wan Chu’er, unaware of his convoluted thoughts, had a vision of Jiang Kechu in military green flash through her mind, and said, "My boyfriend is a soldier, not from our university."
Yang Fan was first stunned, then he became happy.
"Wan Chu’er, how can you, a top student from the first university, go for a soldier? What future can a soldier have? Soldiers are just brawny with simple minds, with no prospects at all..."
"Shut up!" Wan Chu’er rebuked sharply. She glared coldly at Yang Fan and said, "Don’t let me hear you say another bad word about my boyfriend, or I won’t be polite to you!"
Having said that, she kicked a tree at the roadside. The tree shook, and a thick dead branch snapped off with a "crack."
Yang Fan was startled, not expecting Wan Chu’er to be so frightening when she got angry. He glanced at the broken branch on the ground, swallowed hard, but couldn’t help saying, "Wan Chu’er, a girl shouldn’t be like this..."
Seeing Wan Chu’er’s foot kicking towards him, Yang Fan’s words suddenly stopped. His eyes widened as Wan Chu’er’s foot came to a halt just ten centimeters from his face.
Wan Chu’er snorted disdainfully and then turned her head and left, while Yang Fan didn’t dare follow her.
The people on the distance ox cart saw all this, and Mr. Zhang shook his head.
Li Guohui said with an interested smile, "I didn’t expect Wan Chu’er to know some moves. That kick was really cool."
Li Jia leaned in and gossiped, "What do you think Yang Fan said to make Wan Chu’er suddenly kick out like that? She looked pretty angry."
Li Guohui just smiled and said nothing, while Mai Qiqi pretended not to hear. Li Jia, having been snubbed, turned to cozy up to Huang Zhao instead.
Yang Fan, humiliated by Wan Chu’er, walked over to the ox cart with a deflated expression, saw the full cart, and said to the grinning Li Guohui, "Get down, let’s switch, it’s my turn to sit for a while."
Such an assertive manner was unpleasant to see. Li Guohui’s smile disappeared from his face.
"Buddy, speak politely. I don’t owe you anything. We are all the same here, so please don’t talk to me in that tone in the future."
Yang Fan was taken aback by Li Guohui’s retort, gave him a glare, but afraid that Li Guohui might react like Wan Chu’er, he didn’t dare make a scene. Li Guohui’s stern expression made him uneasy.
Next to him, Zhou Weining thought for a moment, then hopped down from the cart and said, "We’re almost there, might as well walk a bit."
Yang Fan hurriedly thanked him and climbed onto the cart.
Soon they arrived at their destination, Heyang Village.
Heyang Village was on top of a mountain, surrounded by water on two sides, and it looked rather pleasant. However, its geographical access was really terrible, with high costs for communication with the outside world. Perhaps because of this, the village appeared to be somewhat run down, and it was said to be economically underdeveloped.
The village had forty or fifty households, with many of the able-bodied young men going out to work, leaving mostly the old and the weak, women, and children.
Seeing Wan Chu’er and the rest arrive, many villagers curiously gathered around to watch.
The village secretary quickly came over and arranged for them to stay with two families, then briefly introduced the educational situation in the village.
The village only had one primary school with about forty children aged six to thirteen, and the entire school had just one teacher who also served as the principal.
Seeing their arrival, Principal Yu, who was nearly fifty, was very pleased.
"Welcome to our village. I feel at ease now that you are here. Although you’ll only stay for a short time, it’s good for our kids to get a glimpse of the outside world."
After consulting with Mr. Zhang, Principal Yu quickly decided that everyone should rest for the day and start teaching the next day.
No one had objections, and they all took the time to clean up and prepare for tomorrow’s classes.
Wan Chu’er stayed in a room with Mai Qiqi and Li Jia, while the other male students split into two rooms.
In the evening, Mr. Zhang held a meeting for everyone and assigned teaching tasks: Wan Chu’er and Zhou Weining were to teach mathematics, Mai Qiqi was in charge of music, Li Guohui and Yang Fan would teach Chinese, Li Jia would teach English, Huang Zhao would cover geography and physical education, and Teacher Zhang Li would be responsible for moral education.
After the assignments were made, everyone prepared their lesson plans for the next day.
The next morning, when they saw the children who came for the classes, they were touched despite being mentally prepared.
Forty children, dressed in tattered clothes, looked at them with curiosity and anticipation.
Everyone took their respective students and found places around the dilapidated school to start teaching. The school had only three rooms in total, one of which was also Principal Yu’s office and dormitory.
Because there weren’t enough classrooms for different grades, Li Guohui and Huang Zhao were teaching in random corners of the courtyard.
Several timid kids shyly looked at Wan Chu’er, finding the female teacher very beautiful but also intimidating.
After asking them about their level of study, Wan Chu’er began teaching seriously.
Although the mountain village was backward, the villagers were simple and honest, and not the troublemakers Grandpa Mai had described, so Mai Qiqi’s self-defense weapon was of no use.
Thus, they began their orderly summer teaching program, living a monotonous but simple life. Since they were all young, even with their little schemes, they still got along well.
Later, Yang Fan stubbornly approached Wan Chu’er twice more. The last time, Wan Chu’er, out of impatience, kicked him to the ground, and from then on, Yang Fan didn’t dare to trouble her again.
Yang Fan then shifted his attention to Mai Qiqi, but before he could do anything, Li Guohui put an arm around his shoulder and had a talk with him, which made Yang Fan drop the idea.
He did not dare to mess with Mai Qiqi’s boyfriend, An Zihao.
Speaking of Jiang Kechu, who was out on a secret mission, ever since he had a phone call with Wan Chu’er, he’d been itching to think about her, and in the following days, his enemies had a bad time.
What was originally estimated to be a one-month mission was completed in just twenty days under Jiang Kechu’s war-god-like command.
After reporting all the details of the mission, Jiang Kechu immediately packed and rushed to Wan Chu’er’s house, only to find the door opened by a sleazy-looking man!
Jiang Kechu narrowed his eyes and sized up Xiao Bai, his body exuding a chilling and intimidating aura. It made Xiao Bai shiver involuntarily and he asked confusedly:
"Big brother, do you carry an air conditioner with you? Why does it feel so cold when you’re around, and you’re not even talking?"
