Rebirth: Dancing In My Destiny -
Chapter 90: The Girl I Know
Chapter 90: The Girl I Know
She followed Evan’s walk to the elevator. Somehow, Rose feels blessed for using her sneakers. If she had worn high heels to enter this vast mall, she might have given up using her heels halfway through the mall and walked barefoot before she got home.
"You can’t lie to me, Rose...." Evan took her hand and squeezed it gently. "I can see from your forehead that you’re thinking about something. Did you feel sad because we can’t look around?"
Rose was taken aback at his words. Evan totally could read her mood. Indeed she was a little disappointed. But, she also felt that it was not something to fuss about.
"You guess wrong, Evan." She chuckled. "I told you I have to unpack...."
"Haha, fine! Rose, I promise you, we will come here again tomorrow...."
"No need to hurry. I’m not staying here for a few days. I have plenty of time to come here again..." Rose smiled to re-assured him. But something else has occupied her mind. Her mind was busy guessing the girl’s identity who was chatting with Evan. Also, trying to imagine Evan’s reasons for avoiding introducing the girl to her.
Evan’s gesture toward the girl in a black dress was very different from what she was used to seeing on campus. He always put on a straight face when a woman approached him. The girl must be someone he knew so well.
Who is she? His high school friend? Thinking about high school, Rose instantly felt her heart tighten at the thought that the girl was Evan’s first crush.
Rose looked at Evan who smiled at her, it made her heart feel a little softer. She smiled back at him and walked out of the mall.
Evan smiled because Rose was so understanding. In his mind, he promises himself to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again. He didn’t want to make her sad, especially the first time she lived apart from her mother.
As they cross the business street, Rose can’t hold it anymore. She must ask him about the girl’s identity. Or her mind will be filled with questions beginning with; WHO?
When they walk toward Starlight Apartment, she musters the courage to ask him.
"Evan, may I ask you something?"
Evan stopped walking and looked at Rose, who stopped behind him.
"Sure, what is it?" He asked as he stared at her light brown eyes. He was stunned. Why did her eyes look restless? Was something bothering her?
"Evan, sorry if I ask you this...." Rose felt ashamed to ask him about the girl. She felt worried Evan would think she was a jealous woman. But, If she didn’t clear this up, tonight’s needed sleep would be ruined. Because her brain would never stop thinking about it. So, for her own good, she must ask him.
Evan feels tense looking at how worried this girl is. "Just say it, Rose..."
"Mhm... earlier at the restaurant, I saw you talking to a girl. May I know who she is?" Rose finally spit out what she really wanted to ask. Her heart was beating wildly, worried Evan’s answer would upset her or make her more jealous.
Evan was surprised to hear her question.
"You saw her?" Rose nods, her eyes flashing with curiosity. Evan smiled as he took her hand. "She is the girl I know. No need to know her. She is not important. Let’s go...." He continued to walk towards the Starlight Apartment main entrance.
Rose was utterly confused by his answer. ’The Girl he Knows....’ What does this mean? Is she his ex? His Crush? Female friend or family? Why did he answer her with ambiguous words like that?
Instead of getting the answer she wanted, Rose’s mind just grew more confused.
"Hurry up, Rose..." Evan said without looking back.
Rose ran slightly, following Evan, who had entered the building.
"Evan, no need to take me upstairs...." Rose finally stood beside him, waiting for the elevator.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Looks like you’re already late... go hurry. Don’t forget to call me when you arrive at your destination."
"Alright! Be good here. I will come back tomorrow at noon...." He pulled her into his embrace and kissed her head.
"E-Evan, we are in a public space...." Rose pushed him.
Evan smiles, looking at her girl’s blushing cheeks. He waves his hand once again before he walks fast to the entrance.
Before the elevator door closed, Rose saw Evan climb into a black SUV parked in the building’s lobby. Her wide smile that framed her delicate face slowly disappeared.
For the first time, she felt so jealous of someone. Whoever that girl is, she hopes she will never encounter her or lose her cool towards Evan. She didn’t want to be a jealous girlfriend in Evan’s eyes.

Next Morning.
Rose wakes up when she hears her door ring a few times. With half-opened eyes, she glanced at the digital clock on the side of the bed. Instantly she felt annoyed! It Is only six o’clock, and someone is coming to her house!
She quickly got out of her bed and walked to the window to open the curtains, and suddenly a bright light illuminated her room. Her eyes feel stung by the dazzling sun entering through the window.
The bell outside rings again, and it makes her annoyed. In a hurry, she walked toward the main door.
"W-H-O?" She shouted with her hoarse voice, too afraid to open her house door.
Only Evan and Sam know her house. And this person can’t be Evan, right? Because Evan is currently in Vale City.
Meanwhile, Sam... she told him to meet in the lobby, 4 hours from now. It couldn’t be Sam unless he asked for a beating to wake her up so early.
Who is the person who wakes her up? Is it the next-door neighbor? She thought.
"Rose, It’s me..." Rose was shocked to hear that familiar voice. Her heart raced as she opened the door. She couldn’t help but smile happily as their eyes met.
