Chapter 65: Honestly, Tell Me Your Purpose?
Chapter 65: Honestly, Tell Me Your Purpose?
What Oliver said is true. That asshole is not the right man for her. She is really grateful that God gave her a second chance. So she can correct her mistakes.
"You too stupid to have a crush on someone like him...." Oliver knew very well who Dustin really was. He tried his best to make Rose well aware of it, but this girl always ignored him. She never takes his advice too seriously. Sometimes she even branded him as a busy buddy.
"Oliver! Can you not talk about him anymore? I know I was wrong, alright!"
Rose felt gloomy instantly because she didn’t want to talk about it. But Oliver brought this chat again. Her wound that had started to dry up was now open again. It feels hurt like someone spilled salt on her injury. The pain is unbearable.
But apparently, Oliver ignored her words. He kept on talking about that asshole. She could only sigh deeply.
"I heard he’s in prison now... didn’t you know that?"
Rose slowly turns her gaze to look at Oliver. She knows it. But, to this day, she is still not convinced by the accusation that Dustin is a drug dealer. She had asked Evan about this. But Evan replied he didn’t know either.
"Oliver, I know... But, did you know why he was arrested?" She asked him instead. Maybe he knows the reason.
"I know! It had something to do with drugs."
"Well, I heard that too..." Rose turns her eyes, looking outside through the big glass window.
Her mind remembers when Dustin’s mother came to see her. Since then, that woman never again appeared in front of her. She was grateful for that because now her mother was back at home. She didn’t want her mother to know about the incident, Dustin nearly raped her. If her mother found out, she would definitely be devastated and sad.
"But Oliver, I’m not sure if he’s really a user or drug dealer...." Rose’s curiosity appeared.
She wanted to know if Dustin had been lying to her all along? She was sure Oliver would know Dustin’s nature because they used to be best friends when they were still in high school.
"Would you believe me if I said he was indeed a drug dealer?"
"WHAT!" Rose was shocked to hear Oliver’s words. "You talk nonsense, Oliver!"
"Nonsense? I don’t think so. Did you remember the moment I cut a tie with him?"
"Yeah... I do remember now." In their sophomore year at University B, Dustin and Oliver had a big fight, so Oliver decided to stay away from them.
Oliver forced her to stay away from Dustin, but she did not follow Oliver’s advice. On the contrary, she got even closer to Dustin. At the time, she was too stupid, too blinded by love.
Oliver smiles bitterly.
"That time, I caught him using the drug, and I found out that he started selling drugs to our classmates in his first year of college. The scumbag even offered it to me for free..."
Rose was speechless.
She didn’t know if Dustin was like this in her previous life. Or was it just in her current life that his path changed!? She was perplexed and so scared to think about it. She was afraid that the future in her present life would also change drastically.
Oliver suddenly claps his hand. "Alright! Let’s not talk about him anymore. Let him rotten in prison. Ah, I hope you will never be involved with him again, Rose. His connection is so dark, I’m afraid you’ll be dragged too!"
"I know..."
"And you must stick with Evan. He is perfect for you. He could protect you...." Oliver’s meaningful smile makes Rose surprised.
Did he know about Evan’s true identity? Rose wonders.
"So why did our lady Rose come to my humble place now?" Oliver continued his words.
Rose looked at Sam, still standing near the entrance. She also saw several game center visitors passing by in the lounge, which looked crowded that afternoon.
"I need to talk to you seriously. Do you want to talk here or somewhere quieter?" Rose looks at Oliver again.
"Follow me!"
Oliver stood up and walked to the stairs. Rose follows him while giving Sam a gesture to follow them.
"Who is that fellow who follows you?" Oliver saw a tall and athletic man following Rose ever since. "Your bodyguard?"
"My assistant."
"WHAT!? Now you have an assistant? Are you a CEO or a Director in a large company? Why do you need an assistant?" Oliver’s voice echoed through the second floor, making a few people on the second floor look at them.
"Can you lower your voice?" Rose glared at him. "Where is your office?"
Oliver chuckled and led them to another stair.
"Huh!? Did I see only two floors earlier? Is there a third floor?"
"Half! I live above...."
Later they arrived on the third floor, a rooftop studio-like house.
Rose saw an open space area with a navy blue three-seater sofa complete with a coffee table in front of it. There is a super-sophisticated computer room in the glass room. And there are two doors at the end of the room. She could guess it must be the bathroom and Oliver’s bedroom.
"Let’s talk over there...." Oliver opens a glass window and leads them to the rooftop garden. They both sat on the garden chair while Sam waited for them in the house.
"This place is beautiful, Oliver. No wonder you never left this building..." Rose saw a neatly arranged Japanese garden around them. Then she was fascinated to see the sky that looked so blue and clear.
Oliver looked at his childhood friend, Rose, sitting next to him and enjoying the sky.
"Tell me, honestly, what is the purpose of your visit today? I don’t think you came here just to enjoy my garden. Am I right?" Oliver asked with a slight smile frame on his face.
Rose laughs slightly.
"Alright. You got me. I want to offer you something that can make your boring life more colorful..."
