Chapter 53: Fight

When Rose wakes up from her sleep, she immediately goes out of her room, looking for Evan. But she doesn’t see him in the living room. She only saw the folded blankets and pillows neatly arranged on the sofa.

She suddenly felt disappointed.

How could he leave without a message?

Slowly, she walked to the sofa, took the blanket and pillow, and put it in her room. When she took her cellphone, she was surprised. She saw yellow notes near her phone.

[Rose, why do you sleep like an angel? I can’t bear to wake you up! I love you, dear... I will come back soon. Evan]

Rose’s big smile instantly appeared on her face. She read the notes a few times until she heard her cell phone ring. She saw Evan’s name appear on the screen.

"Morning, Evan!"

"Morning, Rose..." Evan was surprised by how cheerful his girl was.

"Evan... why are you leaving so early?"

"I’m sorry, I can’t wait for you to wake up. I leave earlier because I have to get ready for a fight...." He laughs when he hears Rose panicking over there. "I’m just kidding. Don’t take it seriously...."

"Y-You, can you not tease me so early in the morning?" She scolded him. "Evan, have you arrived?"

"Yes. I will go to my apartment first before meeting my business partner...."

"Alright! You take care... Call me if you have time. I’m going to hang up now. I want to check my mom first...."

"I sent someone to help you there. So, you can focus on accompanying your mother."

"Huh!? Who do you send? Gavin?"

"You will see later. I will call you later. Bye!"

Rose stared at her cell phone screen while guessing who Evan had sent to help her. After a while of trying to think, the only person who appeared on her mind was Gavin. Because all this time, she only heard Gavin’s name the most and also met him a few times.

Unable to find any clue, she put her cellphone on the nightstand and rushed out of the room to see her mother. But before she enters her mother’s room, she hears someone knock on the door.

She walked to open the door and was surprised when she saw a tall but athletic man standing before her with a smile framing his face. His dark brown hair looks stylish with a medium-length haircut. She had seen this man in Evan’s office, but she didn’t know his name.

"Lady Boss, I’m Sam Russell. Big Boss, mmmm... Mr. Evan asked me to come here and assist you." He nervously but politely greeted her.

Lady boss? Another person calls her like this. The first one is Gavin, and now Sam. It sounds weird to her hearing someone call her like this, but it makes her speechless with a slight pleasing feeling deep inside her heart. That feeling also makes a gentle smile appeared on her face every time she hears that.

"Mr. Russell, you may call me Rose."

Although she felt a little happy being called that, she tried not to let them call her that. It felt strange because her relationship with Evan was just a lover. They are not married yet.

"Just call me by my name, Sam." He replied while scratching the back of his head as the image of his frosty boss’s face flashed through his mind. "Lady Boss... please allow me to call you like that to avoid the big boss’s rampage...." He abruptly stopped his words. "L-Lady Boss... please don’t tell the boss what I said now. Please!!?" He continues his words.

The fear in his eyes made Rose speechless.

Why is everyone around Evan always afraid of him?

Evan is the kindest human being she has ever met. He never shows his angry side, and he is always gentle to her.

"Fine! Well, I thought Evan would send Gavin to assist me. It turns out to be someone else, I mean you...." Not wanting to argue with Sam, she just let him call her that.

"Mom... How is your condition? Can you sleep well?" Rose helped her to sit. She adjusts her bed for comfort. Then she sat on the edge of her bed while trying to massage her hand.

"I woke up two times last night. I feel thirsty, and I go to the toilet...."

"Really? Why didn’t you wake me up?" Rose was shocked to hear that. "Y-You go to the toilet by yourself? My god... mom, are you alright?"

Molly smiled, looking at her little daughter, panicked.

"My Son-In-Law helped me." Rose was speechless to hear Evan help her mother last night. That man always makes her heart flutter with his kind action. "I called you several times, but you slept like a dead person as usual." Molly knew that her daughter fell asleep so quickly, and when she was sleeping, she would not wake up even though there was an earthquake around her.

Rose was embarrassed hearing her mother’s words. Indeed what her mother said is true. She will never wake up if her body is not shaken or hit. This is one of her weaknesses, and sometimes she doesn’t like it.

"Where’s my son-in-law now?" Molly asks.

"He’s back in the capital. There’s business there... but he asked his assistant to standby here to help us." Rose said as she walked to the pantry area to make coffee. "Mom, do you want warm tea?"

"Yes. Make it sweet... my tongue suddenly wants to eat something sweet. The food at this hospital tastes bland. Can you order delicious food outside for our breakfast and lunch today?"

"Huh! Mom, will your doctor allow it?" Rose’s piercing gaze made Molly chuckle.
