Chapter 496: Feeling Guilty

This whole situation is very complicated. Evan couldn’t rush to move because he understood his opponent was clever and seemed to know his movement.

If he made the wrong decision, there would be repercussions that would follow.

After a brief pause, Evan finally decided...

"It’s too risky if we move him. Afraid the mastermind killed him on the way here. Stay in a safe place. I’ll fly there immediately!"

"Aye, boss!"

"Oscar, ask the nearest base to send their best man to look after your location." Evan was afraid that his nemesis already knew they had caught his hacker — he might send an assassin to kill him.

Evan ended the call after assigning some important things Oscar needed to do. After that, he called someone to prepare for his sudden trip.

He has to fly to France tonight!

When Rose woke up from her nap, the sun was almost setting.

"Are you awake, dear?" Rose was surprised to hear Evan’s voice from the sofa area in the corner. She saw him sitting casually on the one-seater sofa while his eyes fell on her lovingly.

Rose smiled and sat on the edge of the bed, tying her hair. But then, she was flustered when she saw him wearing the formal clothes he usually wears when he wants to go somewhere.

"Why didn’t you wake me up?" Rose woke up and felt her head hurt from too much sleep. She slightly massaged her forehead.

"You sleep like a princess. How dare I wake you up?" He chuckled and walked over to her. Then, he helped massage her head. "Do you need a painkiller?"

"No. It’s not too bothersome. It’ll be gone in a minute..." She said as she closed her head, feeling how well Evan was massaging her head. "Are you going somewhere?

Evan didn’t reply right away. He kept massaging her head, stopping after a few minutes. "Are you feeling better?"

"Hmmm, you massage it so well... My head feels better now. Thanks, hubby."

As their eyes met, Evan said, "Wife, sorry I can’t accompany you tomorrow to Vale city. Because tonight I have to fly to France. I have an important matter to attend to..."

He felt sorry to say that, but he had no other choice but to fly to Europe today. He didn’t want this matter to drag on. He needed to catch the bastards who tried to mess with his life.

Rose was surprised to hear that. However, she didn’t complain because she knew Evan owned many large companies domestically and abroad.

And so far, her husband has delegated the company to his trusted people. He doesn’t get much involved in company affairs unless a difficult situation prompts him to step in.

Rose understood Evan’s trip to France this time must be critical, so he had no choice but to set off immediately.

"If you don’t have a plan, I want you to come with me...." Evan said. He still felt regretful about having to part ways with her again.

"Hubby, I also want to go with you. But I can’t cancel my trip to Vale City this time. I always cancel my trip there, and it wouldn’t be good if I canceled it again this time..." Rose felt regretful that she couldn’t go with him.

"I know. And for that, I’m so sorry I couldn’t keep going with you there. I hope your plan will go well..." Evan squeezed her hand gently.

"I hope so. Hubby, don’t worry about me... I’ll be fine in Vale City. I have Sam and Oliver accompanying me. Don’t feel guilty, huh!?" Rose smiled to reassure him.

"Fine, but make sure safety comes first. Don’t do anything dangerous!" Evan warned her. He knew his wife was now powerful, she could protect herself, but he couldn’t bear to see her hurt like last time.

Rose was amused by Evan’s words. All this time, she always avoids trouble, but trouble always comes to knock on her door. Rose sees no way around it. Not when her life or those closest to her are at stake. She’s not going to stay quiet, is she!?

For tomorrow’s trip, she’s only going there for a day trip, so she should be fine, right!?

"Hubby, I will. You also take care of yourself. Come back unscathed, or I’ll be mad!" She warns him.

"Don’t worry. My people are stronger in Europe than in the US. No one can touch me there..." Evan explained confidently.

"I believe you..." She brought her head closer to Evan, then kissed him gently. But then the kiss got more intense when Evan started kissing her back.

The lingering kiss seemed to have vented Evan’s inner feelings, reluctant to leave her. After a while, he slowly parted his lips as he felt the two of them run out of oxygen.

He could see her cheeks turning red. Her watery eyes looked deep into his eyes, and her slightly parted lips seemed to issue another silent invitation. His heart started to race.

A seductive smile appeared on Evan’s face before he whispered near her ear, "Well done, dear. You have become bolder recently in taking the initiative. Would you like to warm up before our dinner? We have a few minutes..."

"NO!! Let’s have dinner. I’m hungry..." Rose immediately stood up and left the room.

If they start having sex now, they will do it until morning. Gosh! She still feels exhausted after their intense night on the island — she just wanted to rest tonight.

Evan laughed as he walked quickly to follow her shy wife downstairs.

Before midnight after Rose fell asleep, Evan left for the airport with Gavin and a few people from Silver Phoenix who had recently been watching him from a distance. Evan was wary, worried that this was a trap from that person.

Besides increasing his security, he also ordered Sam to bring several core teams to follow them to Vale City tomorrow.

For some reason, Evan felt something was going to happen, but he didn’t know what or when.
