Chapter 435: Misunderstanding (1)
Oliver Hester was surprised to learn Rose and Stella had met, "Girls, have you met? When?" He suddenly feels betrayed. How dare they set a meeting without letting him know?
Rose and Stella looked at Oliver at the same time. They smiled when they saw Oliver looking annoyed at them.
"Well, it wasn’t prearranged. We met by chance. Stella didn’t have much time, she had to go somewhere, so I couldn’t call you when we met." Rose explained, but then she felt something was not right.
She slowly shifted her gaze, looking at Sean with mixed feelings.
So, is it true Sean is dating Stella!? Doesn’t Stella already have a boyfriend?
Rose clearly remembers that she saw Stella with a handsome young man. She believes the man is Stella’s boyfriend.
"Yes, Oliver. We met by chance." Stella said with a guilty expression looking at Oliver. Then, her eyes caught on Rose’s wedding ring. She closed her head at Rose, "Are you married?" She whispered.
"Yes. That’s my husband. His name is Evan Collins." She smiled at Stella before turning her gaze to Evan, who sat opposite them.
"Evan, this is Stella, my best friend."
After Evan and Stella greeted each other. Rose’s curiosity returned. She wants to know about Stella’s relationship with Sean. "Stella, do you mind if I ask you something personal?"
"Yeah, I don’t mind...."
"Are you dating Sean Spencer? He’s my cousin." Rose’s eyes met hers, trying to read her reaction. She obviously saw that Stella was shocked at her question. She’s actually dating Sean!? What the hell!?
"Huh!? Sean is your cousin?" Stella was shocked. She couldn’t explain anything to Rose, not even a simple explanation. She was totally perplexed.
Rose nodded. There was a lot to explain to Stella about herself now. But before that, she had to talk to Sean first. She should tell him about Stella.
She looked at Sean, who was now looking at her with a frown, "Brother, let’s talk outside. I have something to ask you!" She excused herself to Evan and walked out onto the balcony. Sean didn’t say anything. He just nodded and followed Rose.
Sean was tall, and Rose was as high as his shoulders. She had to look up to see his face. For a moment, they just stared at each other without a word.
"Let’s sit...."
"No! Let’s stand here."
Sean ruffled her hair. He playfully laughed when he caught her glaring at him.
"Trust me. If we talk standing up, your neck will hurt when we’re done. Girl, you’re too short!" He said, then walked over to a lawn chair in the corner.
"Sean Spencer, how dare you!?" Although annoyed at Sean’s teasing, she follows him to the seating area. After she settled into her seat, she was surprised to find a heater nearby — she sat beside Sean.
"How do you know Stella?" Rose asked not to give Sean a chance to ask her.
"You’re dating Stella, right!?" She asked again after seeing Sean looking absentmindedly at her. "Oh my god! Are you guys serious?"
Sean’s face darkened.
"Rose, listen, I...." Before he finished his sentence, Rose said,
"Brother, you should not date her. Stella already has a boyfriend!!" Rose met his eyes that looked surprised. She is waiting. Waiting for this stupid brother to wake up from his delusion — dating someone else’s girlfriend. Gosh!
"What? Stella has a boyfriend?" Sean was shocked.
"See! I already guessed. You must not know about it." She chuckled.
Rose continued her words after seeing Sean return to his usual expression, "Big Brother, Stella is my best friend. I can’t support you if you want to date her. This is impolite. You can’t snatch Stella from her boyfriend."
She felt sorry for Sean. But she also didn’t want Sean to snatch another person’s girlfriend.
As someone who had seen Stella’s boyfriend, Rose knew that her brother would be hard to compete with the man—their handsomeness was comparable. She doubted that Stella would change her heart. That would be a different story if Stella chose Sean because of his last name.
"When did you see Stella’s boyfriend?" Sean asked calmly.
Rose tells how she met Stella at the coffee shop before Keira was kidnapped.
Sean was surprised to hear Rose’s story.
Now he understood why Stella and Max failed their undercover mission at that time. She accidentally ran into Rose, who knew her real identity when she was in disguise. And if someone discovered her true identity, it would be dangerous for her and her friends’ safety.
Sean is now conflicted about whether or not he should clarify Stella’s identity to Rose.
As members of the special force, Black Eagle, their identity is confidential. They couldn’t tell anyone about their unit. Not even to their family and loved ones. If they did that, they would get military punishment.
But, unlike him, his identity was exposed the first time he met Rose.
His cousin has an almost eidetic memory. She immediately recognized the ’Black Eagle.’ This was when they accidentally met at Vale City.
He couldn’t avoid it because that brat Evan Collins betrayed him. He revealed his units to Rose. Now, he couldn’t hide anything from her cousin; more than a few times, this girl encountered his mission, like the last case, the drug syndicate.
Should he open up to Rose about Stella’s identity? He wouldn’t be in trouble, would he?
Sean was deep in thought, but then he almost choked on Rose’s words.
"Big Brother, I think it would be very tough for you to win Stella’s heart. Because her handsome boyfriend is not much different from you. And I think they are deeply in love, so you better leave Stella and find someone else." Rose said while patting Sean’s shoulder, trying to cheer him up.
Sean was utterly speechless. How could she think he would date his subordinates?
"Brother, I’m sure many beautiful girls will be willing to stand in line to be your girlfriend. Ah, I heard from Evan that Carla Miller likes you too. Why..."
Rose suddenly shut her mouth when she saw Sean’s face turn grim. Is he angry?
