Chapter 409: Devoured

When Sam and the others came out of the room, they were shocked. The gunfire instantly stopped. No more sound could be heard. Only the pungent smell of blood filled the air.

Sam’s body stiffened as he saw several burly men lying motionless on the floor with pools of blood all around them.

"Were they all killed by Lady Boss!?" Sam muttered in disbelief at what he saw.

"This... Sam, according to Keira, our Lady Boss is alone here, fighting the gangsters, so she must have done it alone...." Oscar explained. He was still shocked by what he saw—corpses lying in several places.

It was hard for Oscar to understand what he was witnessing now; how could a girl as gentle as Lady Boss have the mental resilience to slaughter these professional gangsters!? And she managed to slay them all. This bloody battle was truly over, won by his gentle Lady Boss.

"Wow, Lady Boss is so fierce." One of the Silver Phoenix members said. "How many people are here?" He had already passed the 8 dead gangsters lying on the floor.

The further Sam and the others went into the inner warehouse, the more surprised he was to see so many dead bodies on the floor.

Sam stopped in his tracks. He looked back and was surprised to see Oscar’s face was so pale—looking around.

Sam wasn’t surprised alone, and Oscar and the rest of the team felt it too.

"You guys spread around this place, now! Find the Lady Boss and make sure there are no more threats. If you find any surviving gangsters, don’t kill them. We need them for investigation!"

After Sam gave orders to all the members of the Silver Phoenix, he immediately moved. He found a tall machine—a great place to see the overall situation of the warehouse.

Once on top of the machine, Sam immediately caught the figure he was looking for. His face went pale when he saw the girl he used to look after, sitting on the floor leaning against one of the machines in a hidden corner—part of her coat was covered in blood.

Damn it!! Lady Boss is injured!!" Sam jumped from a height of two meters without difficulty. He ran towards the Lady Boss with extreme fear—no language could describe how fearful he was now.

Oscar was surprised to see Sam running somewhere at high speed. He followed after asking the others to secure the warehouse—making sure there was no more danger lurking within this warehouse.

A few minutes ago...

Just as Sam and the others enter the warehouse.

Rose didn’t have the strength to get up again. She fell limply on the floor...

She was worn out after exterminating all the bandits in this place. For some reason, she suddenly felt dizzy—the strong smell of blood assaulted her sense of smell and made her nauseous.

Alone fighting in close-combat gunfighting against more than forty gangsters was enough to drain Rose’s energy. Her whole body ached. Her muscles seemed to betray her; they protested, not giving her the strength to move her body or even stand up from this cold floor.

With the remaining strength, Rose holds her gun, ready to shoot if there are gangsters still alive, and wants to hurt her.

She wished all the gangsters in this warehouse were dead. Because she didn’t know if she could still shoot—the pain in her arm worsened.

That bastard Seth, he’s wicked! How dare he trick her! She got Seth’s bullet for her foolishness in trusting that damn man—he pretends to beg for forgiveness and promises to be a witness against Archy Hester. But, when she was off guard, the man shot her instead.

Luckily she was still able to dodge. However, her strength was lessened, making her unable to move faster— Seth’s bullet pierced her arm.

When Rose had a chance, she shot the damn Seth. But she holds herself from killing him. Rose shoots to incapacitate and immobilize him. She shot both his legs and arms—She needed Seth as a witness to put Archy Hester in prison.

This time, Rose would make sure Archy Hester rotted in jail. She would not let Old Hester help his beloved grandson.

"Keira....hope you find Oscar," Rose muttered quietly, "Hurry up, Kei... I can’t stand this pain anymore..." her eyes started to feel heavy. She felt like she just wanted to sleep so she wouldn’t feel the pain in her arm.

This was the first time Rose had experienced such unbearable pain; it felt like thousands of drills had been stabbed into her bones—crushing her arms.

Rose was afraid of what she thought; Can she still use this arm?

"God... If this is my punishment for taking too many lives today, I can’t accept it—I have no choice but to kill them all. Because if not, my life will be lost. So please, God, I beg you, heal my hand, so I can use it as usual..."

After a few minutes passed, Rose’s heart felt tight, and her breathing began to feel heavy and weak. She could feel her whole body shivering, cold as if she had just been thrown into an icy lake.

Before the darkness completely swallowed her up, for the last time, she took a deep breath, and at the same time, Evan’s face appeared in her mind—like video clips...

Evan smiled sweetly at her.

Evan burst out laughing at her joke.

Evan was seriously reading a work file on his laptop.

Evan was excited when they were making love.

Evan got angry when he saw her getting hurt.

Rose’s eyes felt warm, and a tear flowed down her cheeks, "Evan, my dear hubby, I’m sorry that I couldn’t keep my promise. I was hurt... I love you so much, Evan Collins, and I really miss you. I hope you are here...."

It wasn’t long before her body felt weaker. She no longer felt all of her senses as darkness completely devoured her entire body.
