Chapter 377: Wedding Reception (1)
Wedding Reception Day.
The long-awaited day has finally arrived—Rose and Evan’s wedding reception will be held that evening at Rose’s parent’s house in North Mountain.
The ballroom in the house has been beautifully decorated since yesterday under Amanda Spencer’s command. A previously dull ballroom that had been abandoned because Nicholas Spencer never lived in this house finally looked magnificent. The room now has decorative lights hanging from the ceiling—like a star spark in the dark sky.
Thousands of fresh flowers combined with white and pink decorate all room corners. The beautiful ballroom was ready to receive about 100 guests and close Spencer and Collins family members.
Evan and Rose have been at the house since yesterday. Meanwhile, the close circle of the Spencer and Collins family arrived home early in the morning. The once lonely place is now lively.
Rose sat on the vanity table in her room and stared at her reflection. She wondered why some people close to her might not come to this party.
Sam is still recovering, while Oliver, although he can walk and move, his shoulder is not 100 percent healed. And also, Oliver avoided the Hester family, who were now looking for him. It’s not time for Oliver to show up because his plans to bankrupt the Hester Group are still ongoing. The process of buying shares in the Hester Group has only reached 75% of the target. They need more time.
"You look beautiful..." Rose was surprised to hear Evan’s voice from behind. She turned to look and saw Evan leaning against the door frame.
"Hubby! How long have you been there?" Rose stood up from her seat and walked towards him.
Her smile grew wider when she saw how handsome her husband was now. Even though she has been married to Evan for a long time, she is still always immersed in his charms. This man never fails to amaze her.
"Just now..." He smiled lovingly before continuing, "What were you thinking that you didn’t notice my presence?"
"Mmm... nothing." Rose took Evan’s hand as they walked to the sofa.
Evan couldn’t help but smile slightly—He could feel that his wife’s thoughts were being diverted elsewhere.
"Wife, stop thinking about other things. Today is our happy day. You should enjoy it..." Evan stroked her smooth wavy dark-blonde hair that flowed down her back like a tiered waterfall, looking so beautiful. This natural hairstyle makes her even more attractive. "This hairstyle suits you..." Evan tried to lighten her mood.
Rose rolled her eyes, hearing his sweet words, "Mr. Collins, please stop flattering your Lady."
Evan smiled as he shook his head, "I didn’t mean to flatter you. But, today you are different than usual..." he said while stroking her snow-soft cheek. When he met her almond-shaped eyes beaming, his heart couldn’t calm down. And her soft-cherry lips seemed to entice him—he couldn’t help but kiss her.
His head drew closer to hers. But just before his lips touched hers, he could feel a small hand touch his chest and push him away—a loving laugh echoed through the room, distracting Evan from wanting to touch her.
"No kissing! We need to talk..." Rose playfully pushed Evan and laughed when he saw the dissent look on Evan’s face.
"Hubby, please don’t ruin Aunt Amanda’s masterpiece." Rose could imagine her aunty would be mad if her makeup and wedding dress were ruined—she knew her husband would definitely rip this dress if they made out.
Evan was at a loss for words. He just wanted to kiss her, not make out.
After successfully restraining himself from tearing the wedding dress covering her beautiful body, he cleared his throat before saying, "What do you want to talk about?"
"About our honeymoon plans. Is it necessary to take a honeymoon?" Rose knew why Evan was planning to take her on their second honeymoon. But she didn’t feel ready to leave at a time like this. She had a lot of unfinished business because Oliver and Sam couldn’t help her either. They were still recovering from their injuries.
"Yes. Our trip to Tuscany couldn’t be described as a honeymoon. We only spent one night there ..." Evan felt sorry for his wife because, at that time, they had to rush back to Astington when Molly had an accident.
"But, I..." Rose was reluctant to leave, but she could understand what Evan wanted to do for her.
"Wife, I know your worries... We’re not going out of the country. We will just go to the place near this city, so we can return anytime if something happens..." He was smiling when he saw her smiling face like a flower blooming in early spring.
"Okay, as long as we’re not far from this city, I agree..." Rose smiled. "Where are we going?" She wondered where Evan would take her this time.
Before Evan could answer, footsteps were heard from the corridor, and not long after, Rose saw her mother and mother-in-law appear. They both look stunning in a beautiful pale-blue dress.
Doris and Molly were surprised to see Evan in this room—He should have been in the groom’s room with other men.
"Son, why are you here? It would be best if you stayed in your room, talked to your father and the others... Leave your bride to us. Go!" Doris couldn’t help but scold her son.
Evan was speechless.
"Mother, we are not newlyweds. It’s just a celebration. There’s no need to have a ceremony like that...." Evan protested.
Doris ignored him. She pushed Evan out of the room. While Molly couldn’t help but laugh at the sight, her son-in-law seemed reluctant to leave the room.
Rose sent her faint smile at Evan.
After Evan left the room, Doris and Molly focused on Rose.
"Oh my God... Rose, you look like a goddess!! Your aunt Amanda is talented at designing such a beautiful wedding dress." Molly whispered to her daughter as she sat beside her.
"Agree! My daughter-in-law is a goddess. No, she is more beautiful than any goddess on this earth." Doris also praised Rose.
An awkward expression flashed across Rose’s eyes, but in the end, she smiled at the sweet words of her mother and mother-in-law.
