Chapter 268: Did He Propose?

Even though she wanted to have this man completely, alone, just for her, she would never do so. She didn’t want to ruin someone else’s family.

Nicholas was surprised to see Molly pull her head back.

Why did she do that?

He looked at her face trying to read her expression, but he couldn’t read anything. Because she hid her face; she looked down to see her hands in her lap.

"Molly, give me your hand..." Nicholas held out his hand. But after waiting a while, Molly didn’t move at all. As if something was bothering her, she fell silent and made no meaningful movement.

He was starting to worry about her sudden change. "What’s the matter, Molly? Why are you suddenly afraid of me?" Nicholas asked again, confused.

Molly’s mind was distracted by her own worries. After a few moments of silence, she finally dared to ask.

Slowly raised her head to meet his eyes.

"Nick! Can I ask you something?" Molly asked cautiously as her fists clenched tighter trying to divert her frantic thoughts.

She was worried that Nick already had a wife and children. Worried that her little daughter, Rose, would be discriminated against by Nick’s children if they find out that Rose is an illegitimate child.

It was enough for her daughter to be cast out when she was little. She didn’t want the painful past to repeat itself. She just wanted to live comfortably and peacefully with her daughter, even if she had to sacrifice her feelings for this man she loves. She will definitely choose her daughter.

"Sure! Just say..."

"I’m afraid your wife and children won’t accept Rose’s presence in your family. I don’t want Rose to suffer bad treatment for our mistakes in the past..." Molly softly said as she lowered her head, avoiding his gaze. Somehow she felt immense sorrow thinking about this.

Nicholas almost choked. Instantly he coughed loudly, too surprised to hear Molly’s words.

Meanwhile, Molly, avoiding Nick’s gaze, suddenly panicked when she heard him choke. With great difficulty, she quickly grabbed the glass of water on the bedside table and handed it to him.

"N-Nick drinks this water..."

But as soon as she saw Nick empty the glass she used earlier, her face immediately turned like a boiling crab.

Oh, Lord! We just kissed indirectly!? Through the glass? Molly felt so embarrassed. She feels like a teenager again.

Trying to hide her blushing face, Molly looked out the glass window. The sky was getting darker, but she could clearly see the lonely moon hanging in the dark sky. It calmed her mind but only for a moment, as Nicholas’ words once again left her speechless.

"Molly, this is what worries you? Is this what makes you avoid my touch?"

After taking a short breath and trying to calm her heart, Molly slowly looked at him and met his bright hazel eyes. She didn’t know how to answer him, but she gave him a slight nod. Soon, she saw a bright smile appear on his face. It confused her.

Did she guess right? Does Nick already have a wife?

Her head suddenly felt spinning as she felt a little nauseous. A feeling of disappointment appeared from the bottom of her heart. The frustration is because she didn’t have the chance to be with Nick in this life.

"Molly, Listen to me, please..." Nicholas took Molly’s hand and held it tightly.

Molly didn’t have the guts to look at his face, let alone his eyes; she just looked at their hands, afraid her tears would flow. It would embarrass itself.

"Like you, I’ve never been married, let alone have children. I’ve never been interested in another woman after our unforgettable meeting. And I couldn’t explain why. At one point, I was thinking that you might have put a curse on me." Nicholas chuckled. Then continue saying, "Molly, would you believe me if I said you had stolen my heart when we met in North City? That’s why I lost the ability to like other women besides you."

Molly was shocked that this handsome man was as single as she was.

How could that be true?

He must be kidding, right?

Molly slowly raised her head to meet his calm eyes staring back at her. Instantly her heart was pounding, and a feeling of happiness suddenly welled within her.

"Nick! Please don’t joke about this kind of thing," said Molly. She still couldn’t believe what she heard. Maybe this guy just wanted to please her.

"Do I look like I’m joking with you?" Nicholas asked her. He tightened his grip. He would never let this woman disappear from his life again. Never!

Seeing her just staring at him, Nicholas continued, "Oh my gosh, Molly, you know? I’m only going to marry you, Molly Wilson. You like me too, right? Don’t argue with it," He smiled before continuing, "my daughter already told me how you feel about me. I know you feel the same way as me...."

For a moment, they only stared at each other, lovingly and intimately. The room that had felt cold, like being at the north pole, slowly turned warm with the aura emanating from their bodies. No one said a word, but Nicholas Spencer could feel Molly’s eyes slowly changing. From defensive and cold eyes to more open and warm now.

"So, are you really still single?" Molly’s voice was soft, but there was definitely excitement in her tone.

"No! Of course, I’m not single anymore..." Nicholas’ meaningful smile appeared on his calm face.

Molly was confused by his words. She frowned as she looked at him.

"Because... I have you! I will marry you now, Molly!" Nicholas continues his words as he takes out a small black box from his blazer pocket. "You better accept my proposal because I’m still feeling insecure. Afraid you’ll choose Jamie stone over me!" He casually said as he opened the ring box right before her.

Molly was dumbfounded. The man who constantly tortures her mind now proposes to her. Right before she awakened from her coma?

Can someone slap me in the face, so I can know if this is not my imagination?

But then, she hears his last sentence, Jamie Stone!

She froze.

"D-did you hear?" Molly worries that Nick overheard her conversation with her daughter earlier.
