Chapter 161: Evil In-Law

"Daughter, how about Evan’s parents? Have they accepted you?" Molly worries that her past will make Evan’s parents reject her daughter.

Rose was silent for a moment. Evan’s father hasn’t given his blessing, but his mother really likes her. And for her, Evan’s mother’s blessing is enough.

"Yes, sure, mom!" Rose paused as she realized her mother must not have known that Evan’s mother was Aunty Doris, her doctor. "Mom, you will be shocked if you know who Evan’s mother is...."

Molly frowns, looking at her daughter. "Did I know her? Is she a public figure?" She was worried if Evan’s family wasn’t from ordinary people like her. Her daughter would definitely have a hard time dealing with her future in-laws.

Her daughter might be cast out of the Evan family. Just thinking about it makes Molly’s heart feel slightly aching. She couldn’t let it happen. She couldn’t bear to hear or see her daughter poorly treated by her in-laws.

"Daughter! You must be honest with mom if Evan’s parents are against you. I won’t let Evan snatch you from me! If they disagree with you... so you better break up with him!"

Even though she likes Evan, she doesn’t want her daughter to have an unhappy marriage. Molly prefers her daughter shouldn’t marry Evan than for her to endure the pain of living with her evil in-law.

The shadows of the ’makjang’ from Korean dramas she used to watch were now disturbing her mind. The evil mother-in-law who tortured her daughter-in-law was always successfully stirring her emotions. Just seeing the drama makes her emotional. What if it happened to her own little daughter? After so many struggles raising her little daughter alone? No way! She will never allow that!

"My in-law is so kind to me, Mom. Please don’t be worried. And, guess what!? You already met Evan’s mother but didn’t realize it." Rose smiled.

"I have met Evan’s mother? When? Where? Do I know her? What is her name?" Molly suddenly forgets her anxiety about the evil-in-law, barraging Rose with many questions, trying to figure out who Evan’s mother is.

Rose smiles, looking at her mother, curious, "Aunty Doris is Evan’s mother...."

"WHAT! No way! You must be lying. You’re not lying?"

"Of course, I’m not lying, mom. Why would I lie about this?" Rose laughs slightly. "Well, I’ve visited Aunty Doris’ house. She cooked for me. And, you know what, I bought a house near her house. So when you move to the capital, you will be her neighbor."

Molly was shocked to learn that Dr. Doris, her personal doctor, was Evan’s mother. Her future in-law. This news left her speechless, too happy because her daughter had a lovely mother-in-law like Doris. Molly was lost in her excitement, but later she suddenly realized her daughter’s last two sentences.

"You said you bought a house for mom near Aunty Doris’ house?" Molly was delighted to hear her daughter’s words. She really liked Doris. Since she had surgery, Doris called her a few times showing sincere care and concern. And since Doris discovered that Rose had moved to the capital, Doris called her even more frequently. She has been considering Doris as her close friend for a while now.

"Yes, mom..."

"Rose, thank you for being such a good daughter. Mom is very grateful to have such an understanding daughter like you. I will be happy to live in a new place near your Aunt Doris’ house." Molly grabbed her daughter’s hand and pulled her into her arms happily. Her daughter prepared everything for her, bought her a house, and chose a place close to Doris, the only female friend she had right now.

As a single parent who spends her life on her children, Molly doesn’t have time for herself. She even forgot the last time she spoke to her college friend. Since knowing she was pregnant without a husband, she slowly withdrew from her college friends because she was afraid of being ostracized by her friends.

However, her guess was wrong. None of her friends asked her who the man who got her pregnant was. No one is talking behind her back either. But, one by one, her friends disappeared from her life. They are busy with their own world, pursuing careers in other cities. While she? She was detained in this city with her daughter. Of all her friends, only Jamie Stone remains beside her.

Molly couldn’t help but smile at the thought of that fool Jamie Stone. That man had been chasing her for a long time. Still, for some reason, the door to her heart was tightly shut, as if Nick had stolen her heart away. Even though her mind forgot about Nick, her heart didn’t. Never once had her heart fluttered for another man as she felt the first time she saw Nick.

"Mom, you will like that place. When I first saw the place, I immediately liked it and thought I would buy a house for you there..."

"Is it expensive?"

"It’s a good deal, mom! Don’t worry, though I bought that house for you, I still have money to run my company. Well, you can think of that house as a gift from me because all this time you have taken care of me till now...."

Rose sincerely said what she had in her heart. Her gratitude for her mother made her eager to return the favor. What’s more, to know all this time, her mother spent her youth caring for her while other women her age had fun.

"Oh, please, Rose! Don’t say those words." Suddenly Molly’s heart tightens hearing her daughter. She immediately left his daughter, not wanting her daughter to see her blurry eyes.

"Mom! What happened?" Rose panicked, looking at her mother as if her mother was avoiding her.

Is she sad again? Rose frowns, looking at her mother walking to her bedroom.

"Follow me. There’s something I want to give you." Molly shouted. Rose quickly followed her mother, curious about what she wanted to give.

Rose sat in the seating area in her mother’s bedroom. After a few minutes, she saw her mother return with something in her hand.

"This is for you...." Molly placed a bank book on the table as she looked at her daughter.
