Sam already reported to Evan that Rose’s condition was alright. But Evan’s heart remains restless. Until he could see Rose with his own eyes, he would not be able to calm down.

Evan couldn’t calm down the whole trip thinking about her condition. But the moment he saw her in a pale blue hospital gown, his heart was torn apart; her face looked so pale and fragile, and her hazel eyes were slightly red.

Evan walked toward Rose with vast strides and pulled her into his embrace. He can’t string simple words to say right now. He just wanted to hold her close. Want to feel the warmth of her body. Want to smell the distinctive aroma of flowers from her. This girl is his weakness.

"E-Evan..." Rose called Evan’s name while finding it hard to breathe due to Evan hugging her so tight. Her face was right on his chest. She can hear his beating heart loudly. Not only him, but she also felt the same, her heartbeat rising as she felt embarrassed because Sam and Oliver were in the room.

Rose tried to get out of his arms while trying to see Sam and Oliver. But the two men are no longer in the room. There were only them, and she felt relieved.

As if Evan knew he was holding Rose so tightly, he loosened his hug.

"Rose, you..." Evan was utterly tongue-tied.

"Evan, why are you here? How about your work?" Rose was worried that Evan would come here and abandon his work.

"My work is not important. What matters is you!" Evan whispers in her ear. It makes Rose feel touched as this man flatters her again with his sweet words and actions.

"I’m fine, Evan... you don’t have to come here rushing like this." Rose was now cursing Sam in her mind. How could that fool Sam, called Evan? It seems too much, considering Rose is feeling okay now.

Evan released his embrace and brought Rose to sit on the bed.

"Rose, you look unhappy to see me? Why?"

Rose was speechless.

Who said she wasn’t happy to see him? She is happy. But the last thing Rose wanted was for this man to sacrifice his duties and responsibilities in the office just for her. Rose hated to be a burden to anyone, especially to Evan.

"Of course, I’m happy, Evan. It’s just... I’m worried about your work?"

"Didn’t I already say that before? You are more important to me than my business." Evan smoothed her wavy dark blonde hair that looked untidy, covering part of her face and neck. He tugged her hair behind her ear while gently caressing her cheek.

"Rose, I paid smart people to help me run the company, so don’t worry. They will call me if they need me...."

Evan can see there’s a scar on Rose’s cheek. It makes his heart ache. And when his eyes see her neck, he frowns. He could clearly see the bruises around her neck as if something hard had stuck to her neck. Evan was suspicious. This girl wasn’t just faint from stomach cramps. But, it’s more than that. Someone hit her!

His deep blue eyes stared deeply into Rose’s eyes like he wanted to find a clue from there. After a few seconds, they stare at each other. Evan knows this girl must be hiding something from Sam. So Sam didn’t say anything to him about her bruises.

Evan tried to hold his restless heart as he took her hand and stroked the back of her hand gently.

"Rose, tell me what happened? Why do you suddenly faint in the street? Please don’t hide anything from me..."

Hearing Evan’s question made Rose confused. Why did he ask again? Can’t they see the CCTV? She believes there is CCTV all around that street. If there was no CCTV, Rose was sure that the person who helped her would certainly meet staff from the hotel or hospital, right?

Didn’t want to hide it from Evan. Rose said everything she remembered before she passed out. Including the four men who saved her. But, after she passed out, she no longer knew what had happened.

Evan’s hands clenched into fists, so angry when he heard his lover was held as a hostage. His eyes were still looking at her bruised neck.

After a moment of silence, Evan raised his hand and gently touched Rose’s neck, afraid she would be in pain.

"Does it hurt?"

Worried that this man would get even angrier, Rose said otherwise. "No. Not at all...." Rose knew that Evan was devastated to learn her story. She could see the look in his eyes radiating hatred.

"I really don’t feel anything, Evan. I just feel cramped...." Rose really felt her stomach start to hurt again.

"Cramping? Where?" Evan panicked. He scanned Rose’s body from head to toe, trying to figure out the pain she was feeling right now.

"Here..." Rose held her abdomen. "But don’t worry. I always felt like this on the first day of my period. This is the reason why I go to the minimart behind the hotel. I want to buy pads and painkillers...." Rose lowered her head, trying to hide her blushing cheeks. She was embarrassed to tell Evan about her private matter.

"Wait here! I will call someone to give you a warm drink..." Evan stood from the bed and walked to the door.

"No need. Let’s just go back to the hotel. I want to rest in my hotel room. Evan, could you ask the doctor for a pain killer? So I can sleep well tonight..."

Actually, Evan didn’t want Rose to take painkillers. He prefers if Rose takes natural medicine to relieve her cramps. But since today was a particular case, this time, Evan would just close his eyes and let her consume the medication.

Evan stopped his step and looked back at her, "Are you sure you want to go back to Hotel?"

"Hmm... I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep well in this room."

After thinking for a while, Evan finally nods. He agrees with her. This room is very narrow. Indeed she will be stressed sleeping in this place.
