Chapter 26: Chapter 026: Let’s See What He’ll Do
Charles Seymour hung up the phone and turned to go upstairs, leaving the butler standing there rubbing his eyes. Was the lighting too dazzling just now, causing him to hallucinate?
Why did it seem like he saw the gentleman smile?
The butler tried hard to look again, but could only see Charles Seymour’s indifferent profile; there wasn’t the slightest hint of a smile.
Could it really have been a trick of his eyes?
After taking a bath, Sophie Wilson took out her phone and dialed a number. As expected, it rang several times without anyone picking up, and then automatically hung up.
Sophie raised her eyebrows with a smile, of course, her sister wouldn’t answer the phone.
"Sis, what exactly did you do with that money? Hundreds of thousands! Should I tell Dad? Those people are about to go crazy looking for you. I’m almost at my limit!"
Completely different from the anxious tone of the message, Sophie Wilson’s expression was exceptionally calm, without a hint of worry.
After sending that message, another one quickly followed: "No, I’m telling Dad right now! Dad will handle it for you."
Just after sending the message, her phone rang. Looking at Grace Wilson’s phone number, Sophie’s eyes filled with ridicule as she answered the call, her voice full of concern: "Sis, you finally called me. I thought you ran off and left me to pay the debt!"
"How could I?" Grace’s gentle voice came through the phone, just as considerate as she appeared in front of others, "You’re my sister, how could I do something like that."
"But I just called you, and you didn’t pick up..." Sophie complained with an aggrieved tone.
"I was in the bathroom earlier, didn’t hear it. I called you as soon as I saw your message," Grace hurried to reassure her.
How convenient.
A sarcastic smile flashed in Sophie’s eyes, but her voice remained agreeable, "Then, sister, what are you going to do about all that debt?"
"It’s fine, I’ll have the money in a couple of days. Just stall for two more days, won’t you, Sophie?"
"...Well, okay. Sis, you have to pay it back quickly." Sophie agreed obediently. After all, she was the compliant little sister Grace always knew, easy to fool.
"Don’t worry." Grace didn’t notice anything unusual and comfortably hung up the phone.
Sophie sneered as she tossed her phone aside. If Grace wanted her to bear enormous debt, shouldn’t she earn some interest in return?
If it weren’t for Grace’s scheming, how would she have ended up unable to return home?
Grace wanted to monopolize the Wilson family inheritance, wishing for her death, even planning several accidents before involving loan sharks.
But she was lucky enough to avoid them and came up with this method.
According to Grace’s plan, this high-interest loan was meant to be pinned on her, wasn’t it?
Once Dad was thoroughly disappointed in her, Grace could inherit all the Wilson family assets alone.
Too bad, she would never let Grace get her way!
What belongs to her, she will not let anyone take away!
There was a gentle knock at the door, and Charles Seymour entered the room, holding a cup of warm milk, extending it to her: "Drink it."
"From now on, drink a glass of milk every night before bed to get your body in peak condition so I can conduct my experiments." That poor excuse of a statement made Sophie roll her eyes internally; how fake!
"Alright." Sophie nodded, if someone wanted to continue acting, she’d play along.
Sooner or later, he’d be crying when he couldn’t keep the act up.
Hmph!
When that day comes, what will he do?
