Chapter 131: Chapter 128 First Meeting

"That’s right!" Li Si chimed in, but Leng Mochen instantly sensed the insincerity in her voice.

He cast a meaningful glance at the two of them. "The company will be very busy today! Let’s go another time! Kiddo, don’t you have a class this morning?"

"Li Si, didn’t you just say earlier that you didn’t have class? What’s going on?" Mrs. Leng immediately asked seriously.

Li Si smiled awkwardly. "It’s not a mandatory course. And since Auntie is here, I wanted to spend some quality time with you. Plus, it’s your birthday today! What? You don’t want me here?"

"Oh, you cheeky thing! Then spend some time with Auntie and go explore North City together!" Mrs. Leng said knowingly with a smile. After all, she was getting old—it was clear these young folks brought such energy.

"Sure! I’ll be your tour guide!" Li Si said with a bright smile. She sneaked a playful glance at Leng Mochen but quickly withdrew under his proud and piercing gaze, retreating in mock defeat.

At this time in North City, it was already late November. A heavy snowfall had blanketed the city a few days prior. The snow in the middle of the roads had been cleared, but the trees and sidewalks were still adorned with a layer of white snow.

Jintai Department Store, fourth floor, Lady Jin’s Fur Boutique.

Li Si couldn’t decline Mrs. Leng’s generosity and tried on a pale pink fur skirt. Her fair and radiant complexion became even more stunning against the soft pink hue.

Mrs. Leng nodded approvingly to herself. It suited her perfectly. "Li Si, Auntie thinks this suits you so well! What do you think?"

"Auntie, I’m still in school. I really appreciate your kindness, but I shouldn’t buy this, don’t you think?" Li Si liked it very much, but it felt a bit too extravagant for campus life. Even the stylish clothing Leng Mochen had bought for her, she only wore occasionally when she didn’t have classes—still worried about another incident like what happened with Kong Dan!

Mrs. Leng smiled warmly. Such a modest child. "Li Si, let’s go with this one! This is the first time we’re meeting, and I have to give you a gift! You don’t have to wear it to school—just save it for when you go out with my Mochen! You’re at such a wonderful age; don’t dress too plainly, dear! Sales assistant, please ring it up!"

The round-faced sales assistant immediately went to ring up the purchase with a cheerful smile, complimenting as she went. "Ma’am, is this your daughter-in-law? She’s not just beautiful but also so considerate! You’re truly blessed!"

Li Si blushed deeply with embarrassment, but her heart felt a warm glow.

Mrs. Leng was delighted. She glanced around the store and immediately noticed a beret-style white mink hat. "Sales assistant, may I take a look at that hat?"

Another sales assistant promptly brought it over. Mrs. Leng gently ran her hand over the smooth mink fur. "Li Si, try this on! Doesn’t it match perfectly?"

Li Si put the hat on and stood in front of the fitting mirror. The effect was undeniably adorable. "It looks great!"

"Wonderful! Ring this up too!" Mrs. Leng beamed at Li Si, feeling as though she had pulled off the perfect design. "Li Si, keep everything you’re wearing on for now. Mochen will definitely love seeing you like this!"

Li Si nodded shyly, feeling pampered by Mrs. Leng’s attentiveness. She had assumed a wealthy mother-in-law might be difficult or demanding—who would’ve imagined she’d be so kind!

The two strolled arm-in-arm, chatting warmly. From a distance, they looked just like mother and daughter.

Tian Yaruo stood in a corner of the shopping mall and happened to witness this scene. She had originally intended to buy a fur coat as a gift for Li Si. Now, she tightly gripped the strap of her purse, her eyes filled with complex emotions. The last time, wasn’t this the exact feeling Li Si must have had, seeing her and Weiwei together? What a twist of karma!

Standing beside her, Yan Xuefeng gazed at her curiously. "What’s wrong, Yaruo? Are you feeling unwell?"

He hadn’t expected Yaruo to act so decisively this time. The very next day, her elder sister Tian Yaru had shown up at their home. The two of them had shut themselves in a room, and no one knew what was said. Later, the housekeeper mentioned seeing Tian Yaru leaving in tears, visibly upset.

There was no need to guess—Weiwei must have stirred something up, prompting her opposition! But Yaruo had clearly ignored her warnings and forged ahead, determined, to North City with him.

Tian Yaruo suppressed her emotions and said, "It’s nothing. Old Yan, I think the girl up ahead looks like Li Si! Should we go and take a look?"

Yan Xuefeng looked ahead and spotted two women not far from them—one in a black fur coat and the other in a pink one.

"Alright!"

Li Si and Mrs. Leng were inside a store, selecting accessories. "Li Si? Is that really you?" Yan Xuefeng called out after a careful glance, uncertain.

Li Si instinctively turned toward the voice to her right and was surprised to find it was Yan Xuefeng, with a sorrowful Tian Yaruo standing beside him. Her eyes seemed brimming with tears. Li Si froze for a moment, her heart churned with emotions, but with Mrs. Leng and Yan Xuefeng present, she restrained herself from showing too much.

She quickly composed herself and greeted them with a calm smile. "Uncle Yan, Aunt Tian! What brings you to North City?"

"Li Si, it’s wonderful to see you! Aunt Tian and I came to North City specifically to thank you! If it weren’t for your donation, Kesong wouldn’t have been able to recover and be discharged from the hospital! We really can’t thank you enough!" Yan Xuefeng expressed his gratitude sincerely.

Li Si waved her hand with a smile. "Oh, you’re too kind. I just did what anyone should do—it’s nothing at all. As long as he’s recovered, that’s all that matters!" She truly felt joy from the bottom of her heart for Kesong’s recovery. After all, it was a young life; being able to see him live healthily in the future was something that brought immense happiness.

Mrs. Leng looked at them inquisitively. "Li Si, what is this about?" She felt as though she was listening to a riddle. What bone marrow? Could it be that this child had made a charitable donation?

Tian Yaruo, having recomposed herself, stepped forward gracefully. "Hello! Perhaps we should find a quieter place to sit and talk? This bustling store isn’t the best place to discuss things." Her tone was gentle.

Mrs. Leng nodded with a smile, agreeing that this wasn’t an ideal spot. Li Si cast a complex glance at Tian Yaruo, then linked arms with Mrs. Leng and followed the pair to a café upstairs.

All four of them sat across from one another. After summoning a server to order drinks, an awkward silence fell over the group.

Mrs. Leng glanced around at the group. "This is our first meeting, and I don’t really know what’s going on here?"

Yan Xuefeng cleared his throat and explained, "Here’s the thing. Our child needed a bone marrow transplant, and Li Si turned out to be a match and donated hers! We came here especially to thank her. By the way, may I ask who you are?"

From the moment she sat down, Tian Yaruo had been discreetly observing Li Si, her mind in turmoil while also growing increasingly curious about Mrs. Leng’s identity. She refrained from directly asking, afraid of provoking Li Si. But now, Yan Xuefeng had voiced her thoughts, so she quietly watched Mrs. Leng, waiting for her response.

Mrs. Leng gently patted Li Si’s hand, which rested on her lap, and nodded in approval. "I’m her future mother-in-law! Li Si, did I introduce that correctly?"

Her impression of Li Si had risen significantly. The initial dissatisfaction she’d felt had faded considerably. Who would’ve thought that such a kind-hearted girl existed in today’s society? Truly rare, she thought. It seemed her son Mochen had chosen well!

Li Si gave her a bashful smile. "That’s right!"

She truly hadn’t expected Mrs. Leng to introduce their relationship this way. Seeing Tian Yaruo’s complicated expression diminish slightly, Li Si’s heart swelled with joy. (To be continued.
