Chapter 113: Chapter 110 Daydreaming
"Got it! This is nothing! If little sis speaks, we’ve got to act! So, what do you want to eat? Big Brother Long will treat you today!" Long Wu playfully raised his brows at Leng Mochen, as if to say, "See how generous I am?"
Leng Mochen gave him a side-eye, then gently said to Li Si, "Girl, don’t hold back with him! Tell us what you’d like to eat?"
Long Wu couldn’t help but roll his eyes on the side. He could see it now – Leng Er definitely has feelings for this little girl! Pretending, still pretending!
Li Si thought for a moment. "How about we go eat seafood!" She remembered Leng Mochen liked it too, and the place Long Wu had taken them last time was pretty good.
Long Wu grabbed the car keys on the table. "Alright! Let’s head out then!"
Sea Sky Residence, private room. After ordering, Long Wu couldn’t help but ask, "Hey sister, how are you feeling now? Your face looks pale – is your body still taking a hit?"
"Brother Long, it should be fine. The doctor said I’d recover in about half a month!" Li Si answered softly. To be honest, anyone who hasn’t gone through it wouldn’t really understand. There’s a lot of ingrained stigma around donating bone marrow, making it sound scarier than it is.
Long Wu nodded and gave her a thumbs-up. "Big brother is seriously impressed with you! A true heroine!"
Li Si shyly smiled but didn’t respond. She really didn’t deserve the praise. If it wasn’t for *him* stepping in, she might not have been so willing to come to Beijing.
"Did you go back to the old residence this time?" Long Wu raised an eyebrow and glanced at the silent Leng Er.
"Didn’t have the time. Maybe next time." Leng Mochen accepted the tea Li Si handed him. "Besides, they probably wouldn’t want me back anyway."
"You’re overthinking it! That old lady in your family genuinely worries about you. If you have the chance, you really should stop by to see her!" Long Wu sighed internally, understanding Leng Er’s situation.
"I will." Leng Mochen took a sip of tea and nodded.
"I think you look pretty good now! Could it be the water and soil in North City are especially nourishing? How about one day, I go over there to recuperate too?"
"Sure! If you can leave your work behind, you’re welcome anytime," Leng Mochen said with a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Long Wu sighed dramatically. "Honestly, would it kill you to be truthful for once? Sisi, did you notice that your good big brother only acts gentle and patient with you? Look at him with me, his childhood buddy – every word cuts like a knife! I’m cutting ties with him after this!"
Leng Mochen nonchalantly glanced at him. "Deal. I’ll transfer all the stocks in my portfolio to her!"
"No, no! Brother, you’re my actual brother! Just kidding, by the way. Oh, that reminds me! A few days ago, your sister Leng Ning came to my shop with a male classmate! Something’s definitely going on!"
Long Wu quickly changed the topic, trying to cover up his earlier slip of the tongue.
"What’s going on?" Leng Mochen asked coldly, while Li Si also listened curiously. She hadn’t known her big brother had a little sister!
"I think your Xiao Ning has a crush on the guy!" Long Wu shared his analysis, but seeing Leng Er’s indifferent glare without any response, he wisely held back.
"How’s Leng Mohao doing lately?"
Long Wu’s expression straightened. After glancing at Li Si, he said, "I thought you’d completely stopped caring. I heard he’s been doing quite well – just landed a big overseas deal, and it’s in the negotiation phase now."
Li Si sensed some of their topics might be inconvenient to discuss in her presence, so she stood up. "Brother, Brother Long, you two chat. I’ll just head to the restroom!"
Leng Mochen glanced at her, a knowing look in his eyes. "Be careful. Don’t take too long."
"Got it, big brother! I’m not a little kid!" Li Si gave him a cheeky smile before heading out.
Watching her retreating figure, Long Wu turned to Leng Er and shot him a sly look. "Leng Er, what’s going on with you? Chasing someone all the way to North City, and now you’ve turned into such a worrywart! Is this still you?"
"Who else would it be?" Leng Mochen sounded puzzled himself, unsure about his own feelings for the girl.
Long Wu smirked mischievously. "So how far have you gotten? Spill it, buddy! With my keen eye, I can tell that girl’s definitely a virgin. Given your post-illness fragility, are you even up for it?"
Leng Mochen’s gaze turned instantly icy. "Watch your mouth. Don’t make me lose my temper."
Long Wu froze for a moment, then muttered, "What’s with you? Can’t even take a joke now? Back in the day, you and I would spill all when talking about this stuff. Oh right, I forgot – you lost your memory. Fine, fine, I was wrong, alright? Leng Er, sometimes you’re seriously no fun."
"She’s different. Nobody is allowed to insult her," Leng Mochen blurted out automatically, surprising not only Long Wu but also himself.
For a long moment, Long Wu stared at him, then exclaimed as if discovering a new continent, "Leng Er, no way! You really went there – the old bull chasing young grass? Well, alright then. I wish you good luck winning the beauty’s heart!"
Leng Mochen fell into contemplation. For a while, the private room was silent, both men lost in their thoughts.
In the women’s restroom, Li Si lazily finished her business and approached the black marble sink to wash her hands. She thought to herself that they’d probably wrapped up their talk by now.
Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she noticed, as Long Wu had said, her complexion did seem a bit pale. She leaned in closer to inspect her face. Suddenly, she saw the appearance of a woman behind her reflected in the mirror.
Li Si turned around abruptly, and it was Tian Yaru. What a small world – how could she run into her here?
Tian Yaru looked at Li Si with disdain. "What are you doing here? Are you stalking us?"
This was an expensive place. How could she afford to be here? Could she have found out about Weiwei’s birthday party and deliberately come to cause trouble? With that thought, Tian Yaru’s gaze became even more scrutinizing.
"Why would I stalk you? I’m here to eat with friends. I’ll be leaving now," Li Si said, holding a poor impression of her. Given the setting, she decided it was best to avoid conflict and just walk away.
That might’ve been her intention, but some people had other ideas.
Angered by Li Si’s cool indifference, Tian Yaru figured it must’ve been that wealthy man surnamed Leng who’d brought her here. Inwardly cursing her as shameless, she stepped closer.
"What? Seeing me and leaving without even greeting me? Don’t you have basic manners?"
Li Si smirked, her tone laced with mockery. "Oh? And what should I call you? Miss Tian? Or Aunt Tian?"
She couldn’t even bring herself to call *that woman* "Mom." Did someone who’d always looked down on her even deserve a title? Saying this, Li Si brushed past her without looking back.
Tian Yaru suddenly grabbed her wrist. "Stop right there! I’m not done talking – where do you think you’re going? Feeling guilty, are you? What are you still doing in Beijing? Didn’t you go back to North City? Are you trying to ruin my sister’s family? Hoping she’ll take you back? Let me tell you, dream on! You’re nothing but delusional!" (To be continued.
