Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife
Chapter 250: She Remembers

Chapter 250: She Remembers

Iris glances outside, "Yeah. He was sick, almost five months," She paused, "I told you before..." She narrowed her eyes at him.

For some unknown reason, she feels Eric looks so weird.

’No... No... Perhaps I was overthinking things,’ Iris wondered. She shook her head slowly, putting aside her suspicions.

"I know. Well, I’m just teasing you." He casually said. "But I still feel unhappy because you seem to forget me, Iris."

She chuckled.

"Alright, brother... What do you want me to do now to make you forget that I rarely visit you here?" She playfully asked to make him forget his annoyance.

"Stay here for a week. And, cooked for me—"

"Cough... Cough..." Iris instantly coughs, hearing his absurd question. She didn’t mind staying here for a week. But, cooked for him? How could she cook when she can’t even fry an egg!?

Iris narrowed her eyes at him. Looking at his gaze’s seriousness, she believed Eric had lost his memories because this man knew she couldn’t cook. Apart from Xavier, Eric was one of the men who forbade her from entering the kitchen.

Still vivid in her mind, in the past, Eric warns her, "You will burn the house if you cook, Iris! So, remember never to enter the kitchen for the rest of your life."

...

"Are you alright, Iris?" Eric stood from his seat and stood before her. He patted her back gently, "Do you need water?" Eric felt even more worried when he saw her in a daze and didn’t answer his question. "Alright, wait here, I will—"

"N-No... Need. I’m fine," Iris grabs his hand to stop him.

Eric suddenly stopped in his tracks. Seeing her hand holding his arm, a wave of nameless emotions now rose in his heart.

He slowly raised his head.

When he met her eyes, he felt like he was looking at the blue sea. However, he could see a hint of worry and suspicion in her gaze.

"Are you really alright, Iris?" He sat on the couch next to her and grabbed her hands. "Please tell me how you are feeling. And don’t lie to me."

Iris is taken aback by Eric’s gesture. She slowly pulled her hand while shaking her head.

"B-Brother, I’m fine. Really. I only feel surprised when you ask me to cook. You know I can’t cook, right?"

Eric smiled while leaning his back on the couch. He turns his gaze at the distant scenery, hiding his disappointment because Iris let go of his hand.

After a few moments, he gazed back at her. When he saw her eyes still sharply looking at him, he chuckled.

"Iris, I know you can’t cook at all. But I feel tired after eating the food here. I want to eat something different..."

"Let’s go to the mainland, Brother. We can eat at the restaurant."

He shook his head. "No... No need to go to the restaurant. I only want your cooking,"

"Ugh, please, brother—"

"No worries, even if your cook burns, I don’t mind..."

Iris, "..."

"How do you know what I’m thinking?" She narrowed her eyes at him.

"Let’s go..." Eric didn’t answer her. He stood from his seat and pulled her to stand up. Even though she feels reluctant, she still follows him to the kitchen. "I already asked Paul to fill the fridge. You can cook anything you want."

Iris was speechless. She had no choice but to look at the simple dishes she could make through recipes from the internet.

After searching for a while, Iris decided to cook Eric’s favorite meal, steak. She quickly glanced at him, but a wave of suspicion slowly appeared in her heart when their gaze met — His eyes tenderly looking at her with a loving smile framing his face. She silently swallowed.

"You decided what you want to cook for me?" Eric asked, sitting on the kitchen island while supporting his chin with one hand, lovingly looking at her.

"Hmm, you like steak, right?"

"Thank you, Iris, you haven’t completely forgotten me. You still know my favorite food." He feels touched. Iris smiled while cooking as Eric watched her.

This is the first time Iris has gone to the kitchen to cook something after her rebirth. She started to look at the ingredients in the fridge. It didn’t take long for her to find what she needed.

She searched for the remaining ingredients to marinate the steak. She didn’t need to refer to the recipe video as everything was already stored in her memory. Her hands deftly navigated through the spice cupboard, selecting all the necessary spices without hesitation.

Iris paused momentarily in front of the spice cupboard, looking at what she had grabbed.

’This is weird. Why do I know this??’

She didn’t know what spices these were, but her hands spontaneously grabbed them without reading the labels.

’Was I able to cook in my previous life?’ Iris wonders, feeling goosebumps. ’Is that so? It would be awesome, right? I could cook for Xavier.’

Iris feels thrilled. She is curious to test whether what she thinks about is true. What she found out shocked her; she indeed knew what to do. She didn’t feel confused or unsure about what she should do. If other people saw her now, they couldn’t say this was her first time cooking steak.

’Oh my god!! So, I can cook in my previous life—’ Iris felt so happy. However, her happiness slowly faded when she realized something. ’Heaven!! Did my old memories now gradually appear!? This cooking skill appears now!?’ She feels puzzled but also excited.

When Iris was lost in her joy because memories of her past began to emerge. A satisfied smile appeared on the corner of Eric’s lips.

"You seem to remember how to cook, Iris." His voice breaks the long silence.

Iris slowly turns her gaze at him, "Hmm... I only saw the video once and could easily cook this steak." She said while grilling a steak on the frypan. "Wait for a while, brother. Hope this steak suits your taste."

’Yes, my lady Iris...’ A loving smile appears on his lips.
