Chapter 147: Starting The Plan (1)
After imparting several abilities and powers to Iris, Lucian walked toward the sitting area at the end of the room and joined Xavier.
"You need not worry. She will be considerably more powerful now," Lucian stated. His eyes revealed a trace of irritation as he delved into Iris’s memories, witnessing her agony. "—At the very least, she can beat a lowly devil or that wretch," he continued.
"I appreciate it, Lucian," Xavier replied sincerely. This is precisely what he needed to strengthen Iris.
Lucian didn’t respond directly to Xavier’s words. Still, he fetched a small black box from his spatial ring and handed it to Xavier.
Xavier was surprised to see the medicine box in Lucian’s hand. "Why did you give me this? It is very valuable to you, Lucian..." He looked at Lucian with a hint of confusion.
"Take it and give it to her. This will speed up her recovery," Lucian insisted.
"But, this—" Xavier began to protest. However, Lucian cut him off.
"Consider it a return favor for what you’ve done in the past," Lucian said as he rose from his chair. He gazed at Xavier and continued, "Now, we’re even, Xavier. There are no more debts I owe you, my friend."
Xavier smiled at his words. He nods, confirming Lucian’s words.
"Very well. I must go now. There’s no need to see me off," Lucian said before walking to the door.
...
Xavier couldn’t help but faintly smile as he watched Lucian disappear behind the door.
"How childish!" he muttered, "He forced himself to teleport even though I warned him..."
Then, his eyes returned to the small box in his hand. He still felt amazed that Lucian had given him this valuable item.
This medicine would never be found again in this entire land. There were only four on Earth, and the box in his hand was the last one. They could only obtain it by returning to that place, but he thought he wouldn’t return there for now. He still had a few things to settle here.
"I will never forget your help, Lucian," he said as his eyes glanced at Iris on the bed.
Xavier stood from his seat and walked to the bed. He needed to give the medicine to Iris immediately so she could wake up soon, hopefully tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
However, he heard a cell phone ring from the study table before he could give the medicine to Iris.
A frown appeared on his forehead when he saw that it was Iris’s cell phone, which he had found in her coat pocket and placed on the table. Immediately, he checked who had called her.
Xavier’s face tensed when he saw the name ’Grandma’ appear on the phone screen.
"Why is she calling now?"
His mind raced, searching for a way to prevent Grandma Gray from contacting Iris for a while or forever.
He wanted them to no longer have contact with each other because if Iris’ enemies found out about Cassandra, this woman would become their target.
After careful consideration, Xavier decided to carry out his plan. On the last ring, Xavier finally answered the phone.
"Hello, Grandma Gray," Xavier greeted in a cheerful voice, a stark contrast to his usual tone.
"Xavier?" Cassandra’s voice sounded confused on the other end. "Why did you answer Iris’ phone? Is she okay?" she asked, sounding panicked.
"Grandma Gray, Iris is fine. But she can’t take your phone now; she’s in the bathroom. She asked me to pick up your phone," Xavier explained.
"Oh, that silly girl..." Cassandra chuckled, relieved to hear that her granddaughter was fine. "Xavier, I just want to inform Iris that I have arrived in Europe, and we will stay here for quite a long time because we plan to travel across Europe." She explained her trip schedule to Xavier and asked him to relay it to Iris.
"Wow, that’s a fantastic trip, Grandma Gray. I hope you and Grand Uncle Finley enjoy your time there..." Xavier rubbed his forehead slightly before continuing. "Grandma, may I know where you are staying now?"
After getting information on Cassandra’s address, a small smile appeared on the edge of Xavier’s lips. He placed Iris’ cell phone back on the table and glanced at her briefly before disappearing from the bedroom.
Sometime later, Xavier appeared in a small villa in Grindelwald, Switzerland. Older people like Cassandra and Finley might wish to spend their lives in this beautiful and peaceful place.
Xavier faintly heard Cassandra chatting with Randy Finley in a room. He slowly walked toward the door and flicked his hand to stop time.
Slowly, Xavier opened the door and walked into the room. He saw Cassandra and Randy Finley sitting on one of the sofas, enjoying the waterfall behind the house with cups of warm tea in their hands. They looked happy; their smiles were visible in their eyes.
He stood before these two people momentarily and turned his eyes to the scenery outside. He was thinking about a pleasant future for these two kind souls.
After some time, Xavier turns to see them both before saying, "Cassandra, Finley, first... I want to apologize to both of you for doing this. However, what I’m about to do is solely for the safety of you and Iris."
He adds, "I will make you forget about Iris’s existence. In return, I will give Cassandra my blessing." His eyes rested on the older woman with short gray hair before him. "Cassandra, you will live longer than you ever wish for..."
Xavier placed his thumb on her temple, and a golden light appeared, entering Cassandra. The light would prolong her life for a few years, enough for a human to enjoy their time in this mortal world.
After that, Xavier placed his hands on their heads and started erasing their memories of Iris. He replaced it with the idea that Iris had died in the forest and made them both decide to move to this place. They would never return to Silenthill and stay in this beautiful place, Grindelwald.
