Chapter 96: Chapter 92: Meeting Gift_2
"I really like it, I’ll thank Aunt and Grandma in a bit," Luo Qianqian lifted her face, her big eyes widening as she smiled.
"As long as you like it, Mom was worried for several days, afraid you wouldn’t like it. There are two sets of clothes and pajamas in your closet for you to change into, but since Aunt didn’t know what you’d prefer, she only bought two sets," Luo Yanwu said as he opened the closet door, quite fond of the fluffy pajamas inside, thinking his sister would look good in them.
"I really like them, I’ll go thank Second Aunt later," Luo Qianqian still smiling up at him.
At that moment, Luo Shufan was so engrossed in the black leather book laid out on the table that he was completely oblivious to what was going on.
"That’s some ’Magic Circle’ that Xiao Ran found at an old bookstore. I took a look and didn’t find anything unusual," Luo Yanwu said, trying to ease his sister’s concern.
"That’s good, then could you accompany me out for a bit, Third Brother?" Luo Qianqian looked at the small bag on the bedside table, which contained valuables she hadn’t brought from the hotel.
"What for? Do we need to take a car?" Luo Yanwu agreed readily, looking at his sister. To go out with his sister was an honor the other brothers didn’t have.
"To buy gifts," Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, as if to say ’do you think I don’t know anything?’, and added naturally, "We should also prepare gifts to meet them, right? Otherwise, it would be rude and people might say Mom didn’t bring us up well."
"Okay, then I’ll tell Grandma and we’ll go out," Luo Yanwu pondered and then returned to his room first to grab his wallet. He couldn’t let his sister be unable to pay.
By the time the two returned from their shopping spree, it was already getting dark. Luo Shufan was pacing anxiously in the room. Luo Qianqian asked, "Brother, what’s wrong? Can’t find the bathroom?"
"Where have you been?" Luo Shufan, visibly relieved to see his sister, grabbed her face, "And you have the nerve to ask? I lift my eyes from my book for one second, and you’re gone. I had to ask Grandma to find out you had gone out."
"It’s because you were so absorbed, blame me then~" Luo Qianqian said as she emptied her bulging bag onto her brother’s bed, "I went to buy gifts. I spent all my money, so I borrowed from Third Brother. You pay him back."
"Okay," Luo Shufan hurriedly looked for his wallet after hearing his sister’s words.
Luo Yanwu wore a wry smile. He really had to take the money back because it was spent on buying something for their elders, although he was puzzled about his little sister carrying so much cash in her purse.
"Third Brother, this is for you," Luo Qianqian said, pulling out a small box she had secretly bought while Luo Yanwu was using the restroom, and cheerfully handed it to him.
Luo Yanwu, momentarily stunned, took the box and after a while said, "You got something for me too?"
"Don’t tell the others, Third Brother. This is a reward for accompanying me shopping, hehe." Luo Qianqian sat down with her brother and explained one by one which gift was for whom. Luo Shufan nodded repeatedly, relieved that his sister had been so thoughtful. It would have been rude to visit relatives empty-handed, even if they weren’t very close.
"Oh, Brother, can you lend me some money tomorrow? I still need to buy gifts for my friends when I go back." Luo Qianqian finished talking about the pile of gifts on the bed, then suddenly remembered her now empty wallet and looked at her brother a bit sheepishly.
"I’ll go with you. If you run about on your own again, I’m going to tell Mom when I get home," Luo Shufan said, unable to resist the urge to flick his sister’s head despite her pleading look.
Just as Luo Qianqian expected, before dinner the Old Master Luo gathered everyone in the living room. Luo Qianqian and her brother came downstairs with their backpacks.
"Today, Xi Yue’s two children visited our home for the first time. As the elder, and having not seen the two children for so many years, meeting them only today, I don’t have much to say. Xi Yue’s belongings naturally belong to the children, and I’ve prepared red envelopes for the two of them," Old Master Luo said as he handed the red envelopes to the Luo siblings, his face filled with emotion and nostalgia.
"Thank you, Grandfather."
"Thank you, Grandfather," Luo Shufan, upon seeing his sister accept the gifts and just stare at him with her big eyes, finally realized to speak up. He opened his backpack, took out a box, and said, "It’s our first time at Grandfather’s house, and we didn’t know what to bring. Qianqian went to buy some tea leaves in the afternoon, hoping Grandfather would like them," he handed the tea box to Old Master Luo. The Master looked surprised—they actually brought gifts?
Yue Tingyu smiled softly and stepped forward, saying, "These zodiac jades were gambled by Laoer a few years ago, and had been specially crafted just a few days ago, hoping the two of you would like them." Yue Tingyu opened a brocade box in her hand, revealing a pair of jade pendants that were almost transparent green, strung with red strings.
