Chapter 463: Chapter 443: School Opening Ceremony
Early in the morning, Qin Nuan had pulled Luo Qianqian out of bed. They absolutely couldn’t be late for the opening ceremony. Although they weren’t in the same grade, the seating arrangement for the ceremony never changed.
Luo Yanwu had also returned due to a last-minute task, so it was Qin Wen who dropped them at school.
After Luo Qianqian got out of the car, she looked at Qin Wen’s car and shook her head, clicking her tongue, "Really flamboyant."
"Do you want me to come pick you up next time barefoot, pulling a rickshaw?" Qin Wen raised an eyebrow, a smile appearing on his face, "Alright, call me before you head home, and I’ll come pick you up."
"Alright, let’s hurry. I will be late for work soon." Qin Nuan, with a carefree attitude, pulled Luo Qianqian and left without even seeing the full smile on her brother’s face as they entered the school. "Qianqian, congratulations, you’re officially a university student now."
Isn’t this talk a bit late? Luo Qianqian blinked but still smiled, nodding, "Senior Sister, I look forward to learning from you."
"Sure." Having resolved her biggest issue from her previous life, Qin Nuan smiled brightly, devoid of any worries, "Junior Sister, feel free to bother me anytime."
The two women smiled at each other and entered the school hand in hand.
Once inside the academic building, they parted ways. Luo Qianqian headed to the classroom where they had held a class meeting before. Most of the students were already there, so she casually took a seat in an empty spot.
"Hello." The boy in front of her turned around, looking at Luo Qianqian with a hint of surprise, "Are you Luo Qianqian?"
Luo Qianqian nodded, "What’s up?" Thinking about her notorious reputation, Luo Qianqian figured it must be either from the flower delivery incident or from the time she changed her dorm during registration, since during that class meeting, she had sat in a remote corner at the back, not communicating with anyone.
"I’m Xi Meng," the boy, Xi Meng, scratched his head, smiling sheepishly, "I am a distant relative of Chang Xi. She mentioned you are in the same department as me and entrusted me with looking out for you. I heard about a few incidents after I enrolled, sorry for not being of help."
Chang Xi? Luo Qianqian felt a wave of realization, having forgotten to check on her, she shook her head with a smile, "No worries, how’s Sister Xi doing?"
"Uh, I don’t know, I haven’t seen her either. I heard she went out recently." Xi Meng shook his head, quickly jotting down a string of numbers in his book and passing it to Luo Qianqian, "This is my contact information."
Luo Qianqian nodded and took it.
Seeing that Xi Meng was still looking at her, she asked, "What’s up? Anything else?"
"Shouldn’t you also give me your contact information?" Xi Meng said, smiling warmly, but Luo Qianqian always felt this person, despite a similarly gentle demeanor to that of Qin Wen, was somehow different, thinking Qin Wen seemed more sunny.
"Sure." Luo Qianqian smiled and casually wrote down the number she had just gotten over the past few days on a piece of paper.
Having your contact means I have enough to reach out if I need help. Why do you need mine? Luo Qianqian kept these doubts to herself, maintaining a neutral expression, and remained silent.
Seemingly noticing Luo Qianqian’s reluctance to talk, Xi Meng turned his head and started chatting with the person next to him.
Luo Qianqian didn’t hesitate to message Qin Nuan about this interaction, to which Qin Nuan responded that she was overthinking it—why would anyone bother so much with a freshman?
The advisor arrived soon, took attendance, appointed a few temporary class officers for an election to be held in a month, discussed some disciplinary points and training matters, and then instructed everyone to head to the auditorium for this year’s opening ceremony.
Seeing girl groups already formed, Luo Qianqian felt a bit awkward. Was she being excluded?
After sending two messages to Qin Nuan, she walked calmly alone. She was here to study, not to stick to groups. This thought comforted her somewhat, but soon, she no longer felt left out. The girls that had grouped together earlier realized there was a "fish that had slipped the net." Someone from her dorm approached Luo Qianqian, "How old are you?"
"Which dorm are you in?"
"Why aren’t you in the same dorm as us?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she was passed by seven other people, "Sleep on the floor? Is there still space in our dorm?"
Luo Qianqian touched her hair and smiled, "I’m Luo Qianqian, a sophomore in my senior’s dorm, nice to meet you all."
"Ah, you’re the one with ’I’ll reserve the right to sue you,’ right?" A girl immediately said, "I’m Wang Zi, Prince for Wang, and purple for Zi." Wang Zi spoke up eagerly, afraid of being left behind, "You’re so young, you could take the college entrance exam?"
Luo Qianqian felt embarrassed. How had this incident spread so widely?
Had she underestimated the university’s public opinion? The incident hadn’t been too long ago, and she hoped that the boy wouldn’t become depressed because of it. But Luo Qianqian felt no remorse; the bits she had learned from Qin Nuan were enough for her not to feel any pity for him.
"It seems not possible after this year." Luo Qianqian touched her nose, "Just lucky."
A delicate and fashionable-looking girl came up to Luo Qianqian with a beaming smile and took her arm, "I’m Sun Bin, are you and Xi Meng close?"
Luo Qianqian was startled and frowned slightly. She disliked such close contact with people she wasn’t familiar with, especially since the perfume on this girl would knock her over. She shook her head indifferently, "Just met," she said as she pulled her arm back, her expression indifferent.
Her eyes turned slightly red, and a sense of exhilaration she didn’t know the reason for surged in her heart, sweeping away the fatigue from waking up early.
People around her continued speaking, but Luo Qianqian was not listening anymore, absentmindedly going through the opening ceremony before returning to the dormitory to find that Qin Nuan had also returned. She opened her mouth.
Before she could say anything, Qin Nuan exclaimed, "Luo Qianqian, why are your eyes so red?"
Stumbling, Qin Nuan hurriedly pulled her while Luo Qianqian struggled to speak, only managing to hand her phone to Qin Nuan and squeezing out two words through her teeth, "Hu Si."
Qin Nuan instantly understood and saw that Luo Qianqian was clearly not in her normal state. She helped her lie down on her bed to avoid others noticing anything unusual and immediately dialed Hu Si’s number on the phone.
Hu Si responded with merely a sigh, instructing Qin Nuan to administer a sedative to Luo Qianqian.
After hanging up the phone, Qin Nuan was puzzled. Although there were residual effects of medication in her body, there were very few substances that could trigger such a reaction; it made no sense for it to be triggered just by attending an opening ceremony.
With the method in hand, Qin Nuan hurriedly wrapped Luo Qianqian up tightly and took her to the school’s infirmary, "Can you give her a sedative?"
How could the school possibly do that? But driven by desperation, Qin Nuan went there first anyway.
To her surprise, the woman doctor in a white coat nodded, "Yes, we can."
She then skillfully prepared the medicine from the medical box and injected it into Luo Qianqian’s vein. Luo Qianqian looked puzzled and shocked but slowly closed her eyes. The doctor helped Luo Qianqian onto one of the only two beds available, covering her with a blanket.
Qin Nuan couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off, especially since Luo Qianqian’s look seemed to recognize the person before her.
"How much do I owe? Can I stay with her here?" Qin Nuan initially planned to go back to the dorm to grab her phone, but now she didn’t feel comfortable leaving Luo Qianqian alone.
"No need, stay here," said the doctor, nodding before sitting in front of the computer, barely glancing at her, which made Qin Nuan even more suspicious, was she overthinking?
When Luo Qianqian woke up, the sky was already turning red. Looking at Qin Nuan, who was holding her hand and reading a book, she slightly opened her mouth, "Nuan Nuan, cough, cough."
"You’re awake, are you okay?" Qin Nuan quickly sat her up and poured her a glass of water.
After taking a sip of water, Luo Qianqian looked towards the figure in the white coat and called out, "Fang Rou."
