Chapter 444 - 424: Tu Xingyao
Chapter 444: Chapter 424: Tu Xingyao
Hearing Old Master Luo’s boast, Old Master Tu felt deeply unwilling but was powerless, as his family had neither a dog nor an understanding granddaughter. Thinking this, his gaze shot toward Tu Xingyao.
Noticing his grandfather’s gaze, Tu Xingyao calmly said, "Grandpa likes dogs? I’ll have someone send a litter over tomorrow."
Old Master Tu was speechless.
He turned to Old Man Luo, "Come on, let’s have a match."
Old Master Luo, in high spirits, said to Luo Qianqian, "Go play with your Brother Tu. If that fails, just watch some TV. Later, when I call you, come and make tea."
Luo Qianqian obediently nodded, took out the book from under the snacks, sat on the nearby sofa, opened it, and read by herself, paying no attention to Tu Xingyao.
Tu Xingyao initially thought about what to say when the little girl came over, but she showed no intention of speaking. Quietly reading her book, this made Tu Xingyao uneasy.
Since when had he been ignored? He was always the one ignoring others, and suddenly, he wasn’t used to it.
"Ahem." Tu Xingyao coughed lightly twice.
Luo Qianqian didn’t react.
"Ahem." Tu Xingyao intensified his coughing effort.
Luo Qianqian looked up at him briefly, then lowered her head again.
"Ahem." Tu Xingyao made the cough very loud.
Luo Qianqian stood up, took a disposable cup, filled it with water, handed it to him, and then continued reading.
Clearly, it was her own house, yet so unfamiliar, obviously not often home. That was how Luo Qianqian assessed this seemingly older brother in her mind.
Tu Xingyao, at a loss, stared at the paper cup in front of him, thinking: who is he? Where is he? What happened? Why did this little girl pour him a glass of water?
"Luo..." Tu Xingyao just started speaking, then realized he only knew this little girl as a granddaughter of the Luo Family, without any other knowledge about her. Normally, all he heard from his grandfather were references to "Old Man Luo’s granddaughter."
But then he remembered the earlier greeting from his grandfather, quickly realizing what the person in front of him was called, "Luo Qianqian."
Luo Qianqian looked up suspiciously at him, her voice distant, "Is there something you need?"
"Why did you give me water?" Tu Xingyao pointed at the paper cup in front of him.
Luo Qianqian, as if it were the most natural thing, replied, "Constant coughing means you should drink more water, otherwise your throat would feel so uncomfortable." After saying that, she lowered her head again. She didn’t mind giving him a couple of injections to treat it, but with her half-skilled level, she could only hit the fatal points.
Tu Xingyao was speechless. How could the conversation continue today?
He, therefore, lost his interest in speaking and continued reading his book.
Soon after, he heard Old Master Luo call out, "Qianqian, make tea."
Luo Qianqian, with the snacks, skillfully entered the kitchen. She was very familiar with the location of the Tu family’s tea and teaware, washed her hands, boiled water, and unpacked the snacks for plating.
She soon carried the tray to the chess table.
Old Master Tu, pleasantly surprised, looked at Luo Qianqian, "Is that a sakura mochi?"
Luo Qianqian nodded. Old Master Tu had a great love for sweets, but sweets led to high blood pressure and high cholesterol, so the Tu family had long banned sweets for him.
Hearing Old Master Tu’s exclamation, Tu Xingyao hurried over, "Grandpa can’t eat sweets."
Luo Qianqian nodded, "I know, but this isn’t a sweet; it’s just designed to look like a sakura but it’s actually a fresh flower pastry." Handing him the snack plate, she added, "If you don’t believe me, you can try it."
Tu Xingyao, under his grandfather’s pained gaze, took a piece. Indeed, it couldn’t be considered sweet, and he nodded in approval.
Old Master Tu, frustrated at having one less piece because of his grandson, grumbled, "Just smelling it was enough; no need to taste it. I always say granddaughters are better than grandsons."
Luo Qianqian giggled as she made tea.
"Kid, take Qianqian out and buy her some tasty treats, I always eat hers every time." Old Master Tu told Tu Xingyao, who seemed as quiet as if he had achieved nirvana.
Luo Qianqian waved her hands in protest: "What are you talking about, Grandpa Tu? It’s my duty to respect you. Otherwise, my grandpa would be so lonely without anyone to play chess with."
Their words brought smiles to both old men’s faces.
So, Old Master Tu promptly threw a slipper at Tu Xingyao: "Look at her!!!"
Tu Xingyao, speechless, stood up, walked to the door, and looked at Luo Qianqian: "Give me the honor."
Luo Qianqian looked at Old Man Luo. He nodded, and she reluctantly followed Tu Xingyao out of the door.
"Are you really that reluctant to go out with me?" Tu Xingyao of course didn’t miss the displeasure on her face.
Luo Qianqian didn’t hide her feelings: "It’s so hot outside, I’ll tan. And considering the military training coming up in a few days, it’s annoying enough already."
Tu Xingyao raised an eyebrow; he remembered that this girl was probably in college now.
"You could take a leave," Tu Xingyao kindly suggested.
Luo Qianqian looked at him like he was an idiot: "Do you think I don’t know that? But grandpa won’t allow it, and he even assigned my future Fourth Sister-in-Law to keep an eye on me."
Luo Qianqian was indignant. Are friends just for selling out? She remembered the gleeful tone Qin Nuan had on the phone.
Fourth Sister-in-Law? Tu Xingyao frowned; he remembered that the Luo Family’s third generation’s Fourth Brother was only about twenty. Settling down already?
Thinking about it, he was almost thirty, and his eldest brother was still single in his thirties. He sighed, "Does your family settle things so early?"
It was then Luo Qianqian thought about Tu Xingyao’s age; with shifty eyes and a mischievous grin, she answered as if it were obvious: "Yeah, grandpa says if it’s not because of work, it’s better to act early. Otherwise, all the good ’cabbages’ will be rooted out by others."
Tu Xingyao thought about the recent bemoaning by his own grandpa that others’ ’pigs’ were rooting out cabbages while the pigs at home were practically useless.
He had wondered when they had started pig farming at home. Now he understood; it was a remark about them, the grandsons thought useless.
"Do all your ’pigs’ have their ’cabbages’ then?"
Luo Qianqian was speechless, but upon reflection, the top three were due to their jobs, so they hadn’t found anyone; Fourth Brother did, and the next would be her real brother, Shufan. Thinking about it, Luo Qianqian raised her eyebrows; it was time to start looking for a sister-in-law.
"Don’t bother yourself. My family’s ’pigs’ and ’cabbages’ are well-aware of each other, you should worry about your own lifelong matters," Luo Qianqian said calmly. as she watched a person walking a dog nearby, she was reminded of her own Baozi. It seemed time to give Qin Nuan a call.
"Oh?" Tu Xingyao was curious, as if taken aback by her response: "You’ve got a ’pig’?
Luo Qianqian nodded calmly.
Tu Xingyao was speechless. How old was this kid, starting romance so early?
"Does your family know?"
"They know, my family believes in free love." Luo Qianqian thought of Xu Tianyi’s tender smile and the two outfits she had bought, curving her lips slightly.
"Damn, I need to find someone!" Tu Xingyao couldn’t take the sting anymore and abruptly exclaimed.
Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, her expression returning to normal.
Could he not be so juvenile? Does shouting suddenly make a partner appear? How many faces does this guy have, anyway?
However, when they returned to the Tu family home, Tu Xingyao had dropped that act and was seriously cold-faced.
Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but roll her eyes again. Was this the facade just for Old Master Tu’s benefit?
