Chapter 415: Chapter 396: The Youth Remains the Same
Luo Qianqian woke up the next day only to find that everything in her room had been packed up. She was slightly startled and then glanced at her phone, pursed her lips, and walked out of the door. At that time, Feng and Hu Si were having breakfast.
"Up already?" Hu Si smiled. "Come and have some breakfast."
Luo Qianqian hesitated for a moment, "Can I do that task later? I must go back today."
Hu Si raised his eyebrows amusedly and looked at Feng, who sheepishly touched his nose, having passed out before he had the chance to tell Luo Qianqian, "What if I don’t agree?"
"You wouldn’t." Luo Qianqian shook her head calmly. "If you wanted to stop me, you wouldn’t have prepared my things for me."
Hu Si nodded, "Eat up. Uncle Zhuang and Jin have already gone for your task. There’s nothing for you to worry about." He then handed over a card, "This contains the bonuses for the tasks you did, of course, after deducting the cost of your meals. The password is your home’s zip code."
Luo Qianqian thought for a moment and accepted it; after all, she still had a brother to support. There was no reason to use the family’s money.
She asked, "Where’s my brother?"
"He thought you were going to leave on your own and cried all night," Hu Si pointed to Lu Simiao’s tightly closed door.
Luo Qianqian sighed and knocked on the door, "Come and eat quickly. You’re coming back with me later."
"Really?" Then she saw the door fling open, and a pair of swollen eyes, red as walnuts and filled with surprise, looked at her.
"Of course, you’re my brother." Luo Qianqian smiled, "Why are you not eating yet? Or do you want to trouble the uncles here?"
Lu Simiao immediately pushed the door open, grabbed Luo Qianqian’s arm, and declared loudly, "I’m going with you."
Luo Qianqian nodded, "Then hurry up and come to eat."
While speaking, she glanced into the room, which had been cleaned spotless, but she couldn’t ignore the tissues scattered on the floor. She sighed and patted Lu Simiao’s head.
She had prepared two plane tickets, knowing that they wouldn’t leave a stranger here. If she didn’t take him, she feared the child would have to go to an orphanage. Since she had accepted the role of a sister, it was unreasonable not to take care of him.
After finishing the meal, Feng said, "I’ll take you to the airport later. Go and pack up."
Hu Si glanced at Feng in surprise but said nothing. After all, it didn’t matter who sent them. He could go to Capital City from time to time, whereas Feng often traveled to the south.
Sitting in the car, Feng fell silent for a moment, then said, "Have a safe trip, take care."
Luo Qianqian took out a fairly large wooden box from her suitcase, "You too, be safe." She placed the wooden box on the passenger seat, then turned around and, taking Lu Simiao by the hand, dragged their luggage away.
Feng was stunned for a moment. He opened the box to find a bottle of wine inside, an expensive one, the wine he had wanted but couldn’t find.
In Hu Si’s room, there was also a gift, a brand-new white shirt, just like the one he was wearing when they first met.
Sitting on the plane, Luo Qianqian felt inexplicably like she might never return.
As she calmly walked out of the airport after landing, in the next second, she dropped her luggage. Lu Simiao was about to say something but then saw Luo Qianqian throw herself directly into someone’s arms. He resignedly pushed their luggage closer to the two of them.
"There, there, be good." Xu Tianyi, nearly one and a half heads taller than Luo Qianqian, held her as she clung to his neck, her feet unable to touch the ground. With tender eyes, Xu Tianyi stroked Luo Qianqian’s hair and turned to smile at Lu Simiao, "Give me the luggage, let’s go." With that, he continued holding Luo Qianqian with one arm and picked up the suitcase with the other.
Luo Qianqian’s cheeks were flushed and tears streamed down her face, yet she refused to come down from Xu Tianyi’s embrace.
Xu Tianyi had no intention of letting her down either, just holding her as they stood.
A couple saying goodbye nearby exclaimed, "Look at them!!!"
"Look how heavy they are and then look at you, spare me, please."
Laughter filled the air, and Luo Qianqian’s ears turned crimson. She wanted to get down but was firmly held in Xu Tianyi’s arms as his gentle voice whispered in her ear, "Be good, let me just hold you a little longer."
Xu Tianyi smiled at the corner of his mouth. The sixteen-year-old youth, with a face of calmness, walked to the front of the car, opened the door, picked up Luo Qianqian in a princess carry, and placed her in the passenger seat. He patted her head, "Sit tight, I’ll go put the luggage." After saying that, he opened the rear door and smiled at Lu Simiao, who was standing to the side, "Why are you just standing there? Get in the car quick."
Lu Simiao nodded and got into the car dazedly. This was the guy his sister liked?
Xu Tianyi stowed the luggage and got into the car, sitting beside Luo Qianqian, "What would you like to eat?"
Luo Qianqian was startled but then shook her head, "Anything, I’m not picky."
Xu Tianyi nodded and looked at Lu Simiao through the rearview mirror, "Do you want to eat anything in particular?"
Lu Simiao looked into a pair of deep eyes from the rearview mirror and shook his head, "I’m not picky."
Xu Tianyi nodded again, "Then I’ll decide." Then he started the car, and as the scenes outside the window flew by, Luo Qianqian belatedly widened her eyes in realization, "Do you have a driver’s license?"
Xu Tianyi looked at her amused, "Relax, I wouldn’t joke about your safety even if I wanted to show off."
Luo Qianqian’s face turned red and she nodded, but her eyes drifted towards the black bracelet on Xu Tianyi’s wrist. Why did it feel so familiar? Then she remembered the gift in her bag and her face reddened even more.
Xu Tianyi noticed Luo Qianqian’s gaze and smiled. He had no intention of hiding; he had indeed planned on marking Luo Qianqian as his own. The two bracelets were no ordinary items; one was part of his grandmother’s dowry. However, he noticed that Luo Qianqian wasn’t wearing the bracelet he gave her, and his eyes dimmed.
The car stopped in front of a restaurant. Xu Tianyi parked the car and noticed Lu Simiao had already gotten out, but Luo Qianqian hadn’t moved, and he looked at her with concern, "What’s wrong? Don’t you feel well?"
Luo Qianqian shook her head and, with a flushed face, clung to her bag tightly as she got out of the car. The amulet on top was still swaying.
Xu Tianyi smiled and grabbed the person who was shy for some unknown reason, "Let’s go eat, don’t starve yourself."
Lu Simiao: Why do I feel like I’m a third wheel?
Inside the restaurant, after they ordered, Lu Simiao took the excuse to use the bathroom to make himself scarce, feeling like his sister had something to say to this guy and it was better for him to stay away.
Seeing that Lu Simiao had made himself scarce, Xu Tianyi made himself comfortable, sat beside Luo Qianqian directly, poured her a glass of juice, and touched her face, "What’s up?"
Luo Qianqian took a deep breath and pushed the box from her bag into Xu Tianyi’s arms.
Xu Tianyi’s expression darkened. What did this mean? Was it a rejection? But hadn’t they agreed?
Luo Qianqian, as if not noticing Xu Tianyi’s change in expression, reached out her hand, "Put it on for me."
The confusion and sorrow on Xu Tianyi’s face were replaced with surprise the very next second. He took the bracelet out with a serious face and an almost reverent expression as he put it on Luo Qianqian’s wrist.
Luo Qianqian looked at the bracelet on her wrist and then at Xu Tianyi’s wrist, her ear tips burning red, yet she smiled like a cat that got the cream.
Lu Simiao watched his sister smile happily and, for some reason, felt a sigh of relief.
"Once you put it on, you mustn’t take it off. Do you understand what I mean?" Xu Tianyi said, earnestly grabbing the little hand that was fidgeting.
Luo Qianqian curled her lips, "Are you trying to lure an underage girl? No need for luring; if you beckon me with your finger, I’ll follow you." Her smile was shy yet thoroughly sincere.
Xu Tianyi held that little hand and firmly acknowledged it.
Lu Simiao stood around long enough to attract looks, so he obediently went back to the table but sat in Xu Tianyi’s previous seat, allowing the two of them to sit together.
Luo Qianqian shyly pushed Xu Tianyi away and was about to say something when she heard Lu Simiao speak, "Sis, you just stay with brother-in-law; I can take care of myself and won’t impose on brother-in-law."
Listened to the title, Xu Tianyi rarely showed a smile to someone other than Luo Qianqian.
Luo Qianqian’s face turned as red as a ripe shrimp, and she thought sneakily that if her brother found out about this, she didn’t know how he would torment Xu Tianyi.
