Chapter 407: Chapter 388: Some People Deserve to Go to Hell (Part 2)
The little girl in the cage had her hands and feet tied up, already showing streaks of blood, while her mouth was sealed with a black plastic bag. They were all shedding tears, and some looked at her with pleading eyes. She counted them—there were exactly eight.
"This is not my dad’s warehouse," Luo Qianqian looked at the two men and frowned slightly. "By the looks of it, this must be the warehouse of that uncle my dad mentioned, right? No wonder Dad didn’t take me here to play."
With the demeanor of a spoiled young mistress, she looked down on people and then asked curiously, "Don’t they eat? Or are they given nutrition injections?"
Seeing Luo Qianqian’s as-if-it-were-normal demeanor, the two men also relaxed, naturally treating Luo Qianqian as the daughter of some friend of their boss, for those who owned warehouses in this area were either rich or noble.
"The boss said to starve them for three days. Only if they behave, they’ll be sent away."
Luo Qianqian nodded, "Call my dad over for me, will you? I’m too lazy to walk, this place is so big... Ouch, why does my head hurt so much..."
One man touched his head guiltily. Though it wasn’t he who had knocked the person unconscious, but the child herself who had fallen, it was he who had carried the person over. Thinking of his ungentle actions, he turned his eyes away guiltily and then said, "I’ll go outside to check; this place is big, maybe we took a wrong turn."
Luo Qianqian nodded indifferently. She knew that once this man left, Feng would handle the other man left behind, divide and conquer. Seeing those little girls in the cage, she couldn’t show any weakness. If she slipped up, no one would be able to leave.
The remaining man, however, seemingly struck by a whim, poured a cup of water for Luo Qianqian and said, "This is no place for kids. Don’t follow adults around aimlessly next time. Spend that time reading books and studying. What you sow, so shall you reap," he lectured, a stark contrast to the lowly thug he had seemed before.
Luo Qianqian frowned slightly, wondering if he could be some sort of undercover agent?
However, this thought was fleeting, as she soon saw the man revert to his dutiful thug demeanor.
Just then, Feng approached him and struck him down with a karate chop, a flicker of surprise passing through his eyes before he fell.
Luo Qianqian finally breathed a sigh of relief and said, "What about these children? We can’t just leave them here to be harmed, can we?"
Feng used a chair to break open the giant cage’s lock, "You are brave indeed. But could you please use your head next time? What if these two men were connected to everyone in this area? You would be risking your life." His voice was stern, reprimanding her as Luo Qianqian shrank her neck and climbed into the cage to untie the rope from the nearest girl’s hands.
The girl freed her feet and mouth on her own, her tears unstoppable as she said "Thank you, thank both of you," and was about to kneel in gratitude.
Luo Qianqian waved her hand, "Now help the others get free. Do you know how to contact your family?"
The girl nodded and efficiently freed the peers who had shared her ordeal over the past few days.
Luo Qianqian’s gaze, however, fell on the smallest and seemingly youngest child. Her eyes were somewhat vacant, not because the child was strikingly beautiful or seriously injured, but because the child’s gaze was too forthright, staring straight at her without blinking.
Luo Qianqian didn’t know why, but she felt this child was also pitiful.
However, this was not the time to be sentimental, as the door creaked open—it seemed someone was coming back.
Sure enough, the voice arrived before the person: "I walked around and didn’t see anyone. Little sister, which warehouse does your family own?"
However, when he came in and saw the scene, his mouth dropped open in shock: "What are you doing!" Then he saw his fallen companion and immediately raised his gun at Feng.
Feng raised his eyebrows, "You dare to shoot here?"
The man was at a loss for words; he truly didn’t dare. Although the area was secluded, patrolmen were not scarce, and the kind of operations their boss ran were far from honorable. However, he couldn’t just lose this standoff. He looked at Luo Qianqian, who didn’t seem to be lying, and waved his hand: "Take this lady and leave, and we will pretend this never happened."
However, Luo Qianqian was reluctant because she didn’t know what would happen to the children once they left. At that moment, a pair of small hands clutched Luo Qianqian’s hand, "Sis, I will listen to dad from now on and won’t run around anymore. Please don’t leave me behind; I won’t be jealous of dad being nice to you anymore." The speaker was the youngest-looking child.
The man holding the gun suddenly understood why she had reacted so fiercely; she was acquainted with someone they had captured. He took it upon himself to say, "You can take this child with you. It was the lack of carefulness by those people that got one of their own caught."
On the ground, Sweet Potato opened his eyes to assess the situation but quickly closed them again.
The youngest child yelled at Feng, "Little uncle, hit him. He didn’t give me food!"
Feng nodded, then approached the man with an apologetic expression, "You see, just a gesture so I can face my family." Saying that, he knocked the man out with a karate chop.
He nodded at Luo Qianqian, "You take the people and go first, I’ll cover our backs."
Luo Qianqian nodded, grabbed the youngest, and, looking after the other children, they all swiftly ran out.
Feng then kicked the feigning unconscious man, "Should I beat you up?"
The man was not pretentious and stood up, shaking his head, "No need, are you Sweet Potato or a regular potato?"
"I’m a toad, ribbit ribbit ribbit," Feng responded with a flicker of surprise in his eyes.
"Well then, I leave this side to you; I’m pulling out. If you need help, just ask." With that, the man pointed at his wrist.
Feng understood their coded language naturally.
He nodded, pointing at the man on the ground. The man nodded back, "Leave him to me."
Believing his words, Feng turned and walked away. The man watched him leave and laughed, remarking that the young girl didn’t seem the type.
But now was not the time to think about that. It wasn’t just them two on this shift; there was also the morning shift. Hence, he disarranged everything in the warehouse and destroyed over half of the useless goods meant to deceive the eye before finally carting away the man on the ground.
Luo Qianqian led the children out of the building, uncertain of where to go, and could only wait at Feng’s parking spot. But obviously, the vehicle couldn’t fit so many people—at least half couldn’t fit.
"Five stay with me; Qianqian, you take three by cab to the bar area. There’s a home-style restaurant there. Do you have money?" Feng saw Luo Qianqian and directly spoke, knowing they couldn’t just abandon them after such events; might as well see it through to the end.
Luo Qianqian pulled out her wallet from the car, nodding, "Who’s coming with me?" As soon as she finished speaking, a child clung to Luo Qianqian’s waist. Luo Qianqian thought of her unborn siblings and her eyes softened considerably.
Then, seeing the remaining girls shuffle towards her, Luo Qianqian saw Feng’s indifferent face and sighed, "Alright, the youngest stay with me. This uncle is my family and won’t hurt you. We will see you at the place where we are eating." With that, besides the huge pendant clinging to her waist, two delighted girls stepped out.
Luo Qianqian nodded, first getting into the cab with the three, then Feng finally got into his car and coldly addressed the others, "The heaviest on the front passenger seat, the other four squeeze in the back." The oldest girl, referred to as the heaviest, couldn’t help but feel annoyed; she was just a bit taller, why was she labeled the heaviest.
