Chapter 222: Chapter 206: Even Ancestors Can’t Help
With Luo Shufan’s help, they managed to avoid ordering takeout from Wanhai Tower, and the four of them had a great meal. Bai Yizhu brought back a chocolate cake, decorated without a trace of red, and Luo Qianqian enjoyed it immensely.
"Do you think the brain would feel like this when you eat it?" Bai Yizhu, seeing that most of the cake was gone, stuffed the last bite into his mouth and asked.
Luo Qianqian’s face turned pale as she looked at the half piece of cake left in her hand and felt like hitting someone.
"Can you stop being disgusting? Will you be happy only if you make Qianqian unable to eat for a week?" Luo Shufan slammed the cake he held into Bai Yizhu’s face. "Why don’t you say the color looks like shit?"
"Brother, enough already." Luo Qianqian couldn’t eat any more, putting down her cake and looking disdainfully at Luo Shufan. "Looking at this color, your digestion doesn’t seem too good."
"Brother, something moved over there." Bai Yizhu said after a glance at his phone.
"Ah, my body is like this and I still need to go out." Bai Yixian sighed, pulling out the IV from his arm. "You jerks, wait till I recover, I’m going to eat an entire cow."
"A tumbling baby cow?" Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes and interjected. Clearly, he was just seeking revenge, pretending to be so aggrieved, when even a ten-year-old girl hadn’t said a word.
"What the hell? I can eat a full-grown cow," Bai Yixian said hatefully, looking at the food on the table.
"She meant ’roll, calf, roll,’" Luo Shufan helpfully translated for his sister.
"And here come the transforming baby cows, the underdeveloped baby cows. How come you have so many words?" Bai Yixian shook his head, opened the door, and dashed to the car to sit in the front passenger seat.
"Zhuzi, lock the door. Zhuzi, drive. Zhuzi, remember the keys," Luo Qianqian said, the last one to step out, reminding him.
"I won’t let you drive, just get in the car," said Luo Shufan, pulling his sister into the vehicle.
Bai Yizhu drove, with Bai Yixian in the passenger seat. Lin Jiayou and Luo Shufan were in the back doors, with Luo Qianqian squeezed between Lin Jiayou and Luo Shufan.
Suddenly, Bai Yizhu’s expression darkened. "Someone is following us." Luo Qianqian instinctively looked back, but all she saw were normal cars, none of which seemed to be trailing them.
"Don’t look back." Luo Shufan grabbed his sister, securing her in the seat, his face also tense.
"It’s okay, it’s our own people," Bai Yixian said, checking his phone and patting Bai Yizhu on the shoulder with a smile. "Aren’t you being a little too nervous? This doesn’t seem like you at all."
Bai Yizhu rolled his eyes. "I just said someone was following us, did I say anything else?" he argued, tossing a lollipop to Luo Shufan. "Don’t scare Qianqian; she is still a child, after all."
Luo Shufan skillfully unwrapped the candy and stuffed it into his sister’s mouth. "Which brother would bring his sister to witness such things for fun? Before I met you guys, I was a good homely brother," he said, rolling his eyes and snorting coldly at Bai Yizhu.
"Tsk, tsk," said Bai Yizhu, without arguing back. Indeed, there wouldn’t be such idle, annoying big brothers. But he didn’t argue the point of being a good brother. Compared to their own brother, who didn’t care about anything but giving money, he thought of himself as a good brother.
Lin Jiayou touched his nose on the side. "Technically speaking, I’m Qianqian’s brother too."
"So, Brother Jiayou, are you still planning to bring me to see this kind of stuff?" Luo Qianqian crunched her yogurt-flavored lollipop in one bite, giving Lin Jiayou an unfriendly look.
"No, no," Lin Jiayou said, waving his hands repeatedly with a wry smile. He was just responding to Luo Shufan’s comment about who would bring their sister to witness such things. But thinking about it carefully, all of them were Luo Qianqian’s brothers. "Qianqian, you must have destroyed the earth in your past life to end up with brothers like us."
Luo Qianqian’s mouth twitched, and she turned her face away, the others having such an odd way of thinking. However, in her eyes, she felt that she had saved the world to have such a lucky chance to start over. She also met these friends and helped her mother find happiness, something that was only a luxury in her past life.
"So you’re the source of the world’s destruction," Bai Yizhu chimed in, turning his head with a smile. "Little Fan Fan took good care of Qianqian. This stuff only started happening after you arrived. So, it’s your fault."
"Just drive properly," Bai Yixian smacked his brother’s head fiercely. "With your driving skills, if something happens, we’d have nowhere to reason, and you still get distracted."
Bai Yizhu dared not argue anymore, paying attention to the road ahead and driving properly, muttering under his breath, "You’re the one who taught me how to drive."
"This direction..." Luo Qianqian paused, feeling a sense of familiarity. Especially when looking further ahead, she quickly realized that this was the route where she had tossed out pieces of paper when she was kidnapped. Looking at Bai Yixian with a smile that was not quite a smile, she said, "Feels a bit familiar."
"There’s a hot spring village around here. I’ll bring you all to have fun over the weekend," said Bai Yixian, smoothly changing the subject. Bai Yizhu was the only one in the car who knew a bit about the situation and he certainly didn’t dare to expose his older brother’s shortcoming.
"I heard sushi goes really well with hot springs," Luo Qianqian added with a beaming smile.
"There’s sushi at Wanhai Tower too, but I didn’t see you wanting to eat it," Bai Yixian said in a low voice, then quickly added after seeing Luo Qianqian’s smiling face in the rearview mirror, "No problem, we’ll have sashimi as well, anything you want, you’ll be stuffed."
"We’re already in the suburbs... All these forests around us, who chose this place? What if there are snakes?" Looking at the waist-high weeds swaying in the breeze outside, Lin Jiayou shook his head and said, "If a short person walked in there, wouldn’t they disappear from sight?"
"Who are you calling short?"
"Of course, I’m talking about Qian..." Lin Jiayou suddenly realized that the voice he heard was indeed Luo Qianqian’s and hurriedly corrected himself, "It’s that ’once-in-a-thousand-years’ snake spirit, snake, spirit," he sang, curling his fingers and imitating the tune.
"I think you’re the one with ’snake spirit disease’," huffed Luo Qianqian. Just then, the car came to a stop.
"Ran out of gas?" Looking at the isolated hill that had neither villages in front nor shops behind, Luo Qianqian didn’t believe someone would choose such a place for an appointment. On TV, fights always happened at the opponent’s lair, at bars, KTVs, hotels, and the like. Then biubiubiu, a rain of bullets flying everywhere, the ones fated to die would die, all evidence destroyed by the spray of gunfire, that’s what made it high. No one made appointments in remote wilderness areas.
"We’re here," Bai Yizhu rolled his eyes and pointed to the building on the hill, "That abandoned factory is their hideout."
"Hey, why does everyone like factories so much?" Luo Qianqian asked, amused as she shook her head. Looking towards the faint lights on the hilltop, it seemed there was still a considerable distance to cover. Observing Bai Yixian’s unfazed demeanor, she asked, "It’s still so far away, how do we get there?"
"We don’t go over there," Bai Yixian shook his head and pointed to the dense forest, "We are going over there to watch the show."
Bai Yizhu parked the car amid the roadside weeds, well hidden, before following Bai Yixian’s lead.
As they began their ascent, Luo Qianqian noticed several cars driving along a small road towards the factory.
The factory was situated on a flat clearing halfway up the hill. Bai Yixian led them higher up, as the saying goes, ’the higher you stand, the farther you see.’
Bai Yixian sat leisurely on a tree branch, leaning against the trunk, his figure carefree under the starry sky, especially with the others below watching him like hungry wolves.
Bai Yizhu chuckled bitterly, "Bro, you’re hogging this all to yourself, that’s not very nice." He resentfully pushed the tree but couldn’t so much as shake it.
"Who told you not to train properly, you can’t blame me, can you?" Bai Yixian looked down at the envious and resentful gazes of the few below, feeling quite pleased with himself.
"My brother spent a few years training outside, so climbing a tree or scaling a wall is nothing to him." Bai Yizhu said, noticing Luo Shufan’s shocked expression, and patted his friend on the shoulder, "Train for a few years and you could do it too. I heard it involves things like jumping pits, carrying water, walking on plum blossom poles in the water, and the like. Not that hard."
Luo Shufan rolled his eyes at Bai Yizhu, "If it’s so easy, why don’t you do it?"
"I don’t have such ’astonishing bones’," Bai Yizhu said, pretending to be serious.
Bai Yixian snickered from the tree, "You’re just lazy, don’t make excuses."
"Exactly, exactly, I’m lazy. Big bro, can you please lift me up? Boss, master, the boss among bosses, the master among masters." Looking at the nearest tree branches capable of supporting him, all of which were higher than his height, he could climb up, but it would be too strenuous. Why exert oneself when there’s a human elevator free of charge?
Bai Yixian carried Luo Qianqian and Luo Shufan up into one tree and took Lin Jiayou up into another before lazily settling back onto his branch, "None of your ancestors are of any help, get up here yourself. I’m not helping you." After saying this, he looked towards the factory where things were starting to get lively, as night had fallen.

He Wenyu placed the box under the floor mat and, looking at the motionless door where she had been seated for three hours, gave a wry smile, "Qianqian, happy birthday."
