Chapter 199: Chapter 187: Pei Yuhao, You Beautiful Woman Trouble! (Part 2)
They had three classes in the afternoon, yet no one mentioned the bracelet, making Luo Qianqian wonder if it was supposed to be an apology gift from them.
"Ah, my bracelet is gone." Qian Yuling exaggeratedly searched through her seat and bag, and at that moment, it happened to be the self-study class with the teacher overseeing.
"Look carefully for it." Xiu Xian frowned.
With a sneer on his face, Pei Yuhao hadn’t handed the bracelet to the teacher but to someone else instead.
Luo Qianqian shook her head; her deskmate’s acting was too poor, not even close to hers. At this moment, she should have shed some tears to show her urgency and fear, then add a couple of lines like "it was my mother’s" to highlight the bracelet’s value, and politely ask the teacher to investigate thoroughly because a thief could not be tolerated in the class. However, Qianqian was curious how they would find a way to search her bag. After all, even police needed a warrant to search, otherwise, it would be an infringement of rights.
"Luo Qianqian, was it you? You’re the only one in the class who saw that bracelet, and your family is so poor that you don’t even have pocket money. Did you think of selling my bracelet for cash?" Qian Yuling suddenly turned towards Luo Qianqian and asked viciously, then realizing her expression was off, she immediately switched to a pitiful look, though still somewhat fierce: "Just give me back the bracelet and I won’t pursue it."
"When did you show it to me, when did it go missing?" Luo Qianqian cooperated: "I didn’t take it."
"I showed it to you in the morning, and it was gone in the afternoon," Qian Yuling declared confidently.
"Today I was on leave. I only attended two classes in the morning. During the break of the first class, I went to the office, and right after the second class, it was lunchtime. I was eating with a friend. When did you show it to me?" Luo Qianqian blinked: "Was it while we were in class you were showing off? Alright then."
Luo Qianqian pointed at Li Qi, Xia Qi, and Shen Yan: "We four were discussing problems together during the break this afternoon. I have an alibi. You wouldn’t be so foolish as to not know if I had taken your bracelet during class, would you?"
The three of them nodded quickly, but it seemed Xia Qi’s backup bracelet wouldn’t be needed after all, the argument was too sound to be contested.
"I don’t care, let me search it, and I will believe you." Seeing Luo Qianqian’s demeanor, she likely hadn’t noticed that someone had tampered with her bag, Qian Yuling felt reassured. As long as Luo Qianqian’s character was proved to be bad, Pei Yuhao would definitely keep his distance, and the Pei Family would never allow their son to be friends with such a child.
With a humorous lift of her lips, Luo Qianqian said, "Give me a reason to let you search, and then you can."
"If you didn’t take it, why are you scared of me searching?" Qia Yuling retorted.
"Oh?" Luo Qianqian looked amused at Qian Yuling: "Then if I lose something, let me search you, and you’ll let me, right?"
"Feel free to search." Qian Yuling subconsciously passed over her bag because she was only interested in searching Luo Qianqian’s.
Luo Qianqian graciously passed over her bag.
"Ha." Li Qi looked at his deskmate Xia Qi with surprised delight, laughing quietly; their precaution had come in handy.
"What is this?" Qian Yuling accurately pulled out the bracelet: "It was indeed you who took it."
Luo Qianqian kindly reminded: "Are you sure the bracelet is yours?"
"How could it not be?" The bracelet was borrowed, and in Qian Yuling’s memory, she only remembered that it was silver colored: "Don’t I remember my own?"
"Then I have nothing to say," Luo Qianqian laughed with a curve in her eyes: "After all, if I called it, it wouldn’t answer."
Xia Qi shook her head; she wore that bracelet because it was designed by her father, with her name on it.
"Even if it could speak, it would not call you its owner," Qian Yuling declared with a face full of triumph.
Little did she know that in front of the whole class, Luo Qianqian would nod in agreement: "Of course, it wouldn’t call me its owner. It’s not mine after all."
The students who didn’t understand the truth all began to chatter excitedly, and although Xiu Xian, sitting on the podium, furrowed his brows, he remained silent. It was clear that this was a setup, but there was no evidence, and in his heart, he was still inclined to favor the good student Xiu Xian.
"Yes, because the bracelet belongs to Xia Qi, how could Qianqian be called the owner," Li Qi said with a hand over her mouth, giggling, "Qianqian said the bracelet design was novel and wanted to take it back to have her aunt make an identical one for her."
"How is that possible?" Qian Yuling scoffed coldly, "Don’t lie just to clear Luo Qianqian of suspicion!"
The bracelet was acquired from that exact spot, obviously untouched. She thought to deceive me? Qian Yuling sneered inwardly. You’re finished, Luo Qianqian.
"Ahem, excuse me, but there’s my name on this bracelet, it’s a birthday gift from my father," Xia Qi said gently, her face turning red from the effort of holding back laughter.
"Let me see, let me see." Pei Yutian took the bracelet, looked for the engraving, and found a small ’Qi’ character, exclaiming, "There really is a name, it’s Xia Qi’s ’Qi’." He was genuinely surprised; he hadn’t expected the bracelet to bear a name.
"How is that possible." Qian Yuling, pale-faced, looked at Luo Qianqian and then angrily accused, "You set me up!" It dawned on her, Luo Qianqian must have figured out the trap and turned the tables, drawing her out.
"Set up?" Luo Qianqian tilted her head and looked at Qian Yuling with a slight smile that, in Qian Yuling’s eyes, was the devil’s grin, "What about you is worth my plotting? Or what do you have that I would be jealous of?" To frame someone stemmed either from hatred or jealousy, and she bore no deep grudges against any classmates.
"What exactly is going on?" Watching Luo Qianqian turn the tide, Xiu Xian looked puzzled. However, he didn’t ask directly but instead called several people outside the classroom, Li Qi, Xia Qi, Luo Qianqian, and Qian Yuling.
Pei Yuhao lamented in the classroom, "And me too."
"The thing you said, did you actually do it?" Pei Yutian asked softly. Normally, the teacher would have intervened long ago; it had clearly been handed over already.
"Don’t worry, if it was up to the homeroom teacher, the drama we just saw wouldn’t have unfolded. I found the owner and told them the bracelet was lost by a seventh-grader who confessed to me, no clue who it was," Pei Yuhao said with a mischievous grin, "Precocious love and all that can’t be solved with just a teacher’s warning."
"You’re too bad," Pei Yutian said with a look of amazement.
Outside the classroom, Luo Qianqian calmly laid out the ’facts’: she had never seen Qian Yuling’s bracelet, she had an alibi, it was a frame-up, and the bracelet that belonged to Xia Qi had been borrowed and placed in her backpack at noon.
Qian Yuling retorted, "It was you who harmed me!"
"What do you have that’s worth my harming you?" Luo Qianqian sneered, "Teacher, you can check the surveillance footage. If I had gone through her desk, I would confess and apologize in front of the whole school."
"Right, there’s surveillance!" Li Qi clapped her hands suddenly, her eyes gleaming with schadenfreude as she looked at Qian Yuling.
"Announcement: All first-year homeroom teachers are requested to gather in the conference room immediately. I repeat, all first-year homeroom teachers are requested to gather in the conference room immediately."
Hearing the announcement over the loudspeaker, Pei Yuhao and Pei Yutian in the classroom exchanged glances and then burst into laughter.
After the meeting had ended, Xiu Xian didn’t call for the three, Luo Qianqian, but took Qian Yuling out instead. When Qian Yuling returned, her eyes were red; it was past dismissal time, and her parents followed behind her, while Luo Qianqian and the others were happily doing their homework and discussing problems.
"So for this problem, not writing this step will lose you points; you must write this ’∵’ (because)," Luo Qianqian, standing on a stool, continued to tap the chalk against the blackboard as Qian Yuling packed her bag and didn’t cease.
"You won this time, but you won’t be so lucky next time!" Qian Yuling glared fiercely at Luo Qianqian as she passed by the podium, huffing, and then stomped away.
"Jealousy, one of the seven deadly sins of Catholic doctrine, huh." Luo Qianqian watched the classroom door slam and gently shook her head. She was unconcerned, for these people were all still too young; they would realize in time that all of this was just a joke.
"What are the seven deadly sins?"
"’Gluttony,’ ’Greed,’ ’Sloth,’ ’Envy,’ ’Pride,’ ’Lust,’ ’Wrath.’"
