Chapter 494: Chapter 482: Earn More, Donate More Chapter 494: Chapter 482: Earn More, Donate More Chapter Four Hundred and Eighty-Two: Nausea, Pregnant?
On Thursday, Lu Jiaxin invited Su Heyuan and Hu Huihui to have French cuisine. Due to Zong Shimeng’s praise, Hu Huihui held a favorable impression of Lu Jiaxin.
Arriving at the restaurant, Su Heyuan saw Lu Jiaxin by herself, “Where’s Nie Zhan?”
Lu Jiaxin replied somewhat helplessly, “He was called to the old house just before closing, probably something to do with the bank. Never mind him, let’s enjoy our meal.”
Nie Zhan was indeed tolerant; had it been her, she wouldn’t have bothered. She had made so many suggestions before the stock market crash, none were adopted, and now they needed his help to minimize the losses. She still held 1% of Wansheng Bank’s shares, while Nie Zhan didn’t own any; his help was purely out of familial loyalty.
It wasn’t appropriate to ask more at the door, so the three of them entered the private room. Lu Jiaxin handed the menu to Hu Huihui, smiling as she said, “Order whatever you like, it’s on me today.”
Su Heyuan noted her beaming face and chuckled, “Huihui, Jiaxin also made a big profit, don’t be shy with her, just order what you fancy.”
Hu Huihui asked with a smile, “Jiaxin, my sister-in-law followed your advice and sold her stocks last week. Otherwise, she would also be trapped in the stock market now. She said that she wants to invite you shopping when you have time.”
“Should be free this weekend, let’s go together.”
Hu Huihui shook her head, “I can’t make it this weekend. But my sister-in-law has already transferred One Hundred Thousand Pieces to me for shopping on my own.”
After saying that, she asked curiously, “Jiaxin, my brother said my sister-in-law made over fourteen million, how much did you make?”
Her sister-in-law used to buy her things, and in return, she always spoke well of her in front of her mother and grandmother. Although her mother said these things were charged to her brother’s card, she appreciated the gesture from her sister-in-law. Still, this was the first time she had given her money to buy something herself.
“Over seventy-nine million,” Lu Jiaxin declared. She had already told Zong Shimeng about this amount and didn’t mind Hu Huihui knowing.
Su Heyuan glanced at her. Earning just over seventy-nine million, that was something only Huihui would believe. He certainly didn’t, unless there was an extra zero at the end.
Hu Huihui said with a hint of envy, “It’s a pity I don’t have money. Otherwise, I could have joined you in this.
Lu Jiaxin knew she studied painting and had no clue about finance. She smiled and said, “When you have money later, you can buy too, but only with spare cash. Many people will probably go bankrupt because of this stock market crash.”
Those who borrowed high-interest loans, misused public funds, and put all they had into stocks could not withstand the consequences and might end up jumping off buildings.
Nodding her head, Hu Huihui lowered her eyes to the menu and then told the waiter she wanted to have baked snails, foie gras, grilled fish, and mille-feuille.
Lu Jiaxin’s face instantly stiffened at the mention of snails. When Hu Huihui and Su Heyuan described how delicious the baked snails were, she felt a stormy unease in her stomach.
“Ugh…”
Lu Jiaxin covered her mouth and ran to the restaurant restroom.
Looking worried, Hu Huihui followed her and saw her vomiting, then gently patted her back, “Jiaxin, shall I accompany you to the hospital?”
After throwing up, Lu Jiaxin waved her hand, “I’m fine.”
Hu Huihui disagreed, “Jiaxin, this isn’t something small, you really should get checked at the hospital. The early stages of pregnancy require special care, otherwise it’s very dangerous.”
Lu Jiaxin was stunned, “Pre, pregnant?”
Thinking she was unaware, Hu Huihui said with a smile, “So you didn’t know, huh? No problem, let’s go to the hospital for a check-up, the doctor will inform you of the precautions.”
Lu Jiaxin couldn’t help but laugh and cry, “I’m not pregnant. It’s just that, I don’t eat snails, hearing you describe them as so delicious made me feel a bit quea, uncomfortable.”
She changed the word “nausea” to “uncomfortable.”
“Ah…”
Seeing that she was about to speak again, Lu Jiaxin quickly waved her hand and said, “We also have snails in my hometown, but they’re not the same species as the one you’re talking about, and they left me with quite a traumatic impression.”
During her last visit to her grandparents’ place, the trails left by the snails were clearly visible and truly nauseating to behold.
Having dined at the French Restaurant so many times, she had always consciously avoided that particular dish. Su Heyuan also wasn’t accustomed to eating it, and Nie Zhan had realized she always skipped this dish and so never ordered it.
Hu Huihui said with embarrassment, “Jiaxin, I’m sorry, my sister-in-law had the same reaction when she was pregnant, which led to the misunderstanding.”
Lu Jiaxin naturally wasn’t upset, “There are many reasons for vomiting, and gastrointestinal discomfort is one of them.”
After returning, Su Heyuan asked with concern, “If you’re not feeling well, Huihui and I can take you to the hospital for a checkup. You can’t be careless with your health.”
“It’s okay; I just felt a bit queasy at the thought of that snail for a moment.”
Su Heyuan couldn’t help but laugh. He actually couldn’t stomach that dish either, but he wasn’t as exaggerated as Lu Jiaxin, “If you don’t like it, then we won’t order it.”
Hu Huihui’s expression slightly paused. Although she hadn’t planned to eat the dish either, what she had said was different from what Su Heyuan had suggested.
Turning to her, Su Heyuan said, “Huihui, since Jiaxin isn’t comfortable with this dish, how about I come with you tomorrow to have it, is that alright?”
Hu Huihui’s mood instantly brightened from gloom to sunshine, “Okay.”
The two chatted while eating, and Lu Jiaxin brought up the subject of purchasing medical equipment, “Does anyone want to go into this business?”
Su Heyuan said with a smile, “I plan to do it myself. I’ve already made contact with the third young master of the Shi Family, and I’ll be flying to Singapore in a couple of days.”
Hu Huihui didn’t interject when they talked about business.
After finishing dinner, Lu Jiaxin went back home, not wanting to stick around and become a third wheel. On her way back, she made a call to Nie Zhan, wanting to ask when he would be back.
The call was answered by Secretary Wang, who spoke in a low voice, “The boss is still in the study with the chairman and Eldest Young Master. Miss Lu, once the boss is out, I will immediately inform him.”
“Okay.”
It was over an hour later when Lu Jiaxin received a call from Nie Zhan, “Jiaxin, I’ve got some things to handle here so I won’t be coming over; you should get some rest early.”
Lu Jiaxin frowned slightly but didn’t ask further.
At nine-thirty, Su Heyuan called, “Jiaxin, how many are you planning to buy? I’ve also made quite a bit this time, and want to buy one as well.”
This time, Lu Jiaxin didn’t specify how many she’d donate, “You should ask Uncle Xie to see what kind of medical equipment the hospital needs; just keep the amount under ten million greenbacks.”
Su Heyuan knew she was always generous with her spending, but he had not expected her to donate ten million greenbacks outright, “Jiaxin, you’ve earned not 79 million but 790 million, right?”
Lu Jiaxin certainly wasn’t going to tell him the exact amount, “Something like that!”
Seeing her response so straightforward, Su Heyuan suspected it was more than 790 million. But no matter how much she earned, it was a good thing for Jiaxin to make money, and he was happy to share in the profits.
After thinking for a moment, he said, “I’ll donate two million then.”
Lu Jiaxin said with a laugh, “According to my estimation, the Hang Seng Index will continue to fall next Monday; your two million is a bit too modest.”
“If it drops another 11%, I’ll donate five million. If it falls by more than 22% within a day, like the Dow Jones Index, then I will donate eight million.”
“Alright, I’ll remember your words.”
