After selling everything and getting the money, Yu Meitong called Lu Jiaxin: “Jiaxin, I remember you mentioned before that you knew a real estate agent. Could you recommend one to me? I want to buy a second-hand apartment so I can move in directly.”

Lu Jiaxin smiled and agreed. As to how much to donate, that would be decided later.

In the evening, Yu Meitong called to thank her. She had been keeping an eye on housing prices since she started thinking about buying, and knew Bi Liangfei’s quote was below market rates; she knew at once that Lu Jiaxin must have given special instructions.

Lu Jiaxin reminded her, “Sister Meitong, you must be mindful of your safety living alone.”

She had told Bi Liangfei that Yu Meitong was a close friend of hers, so she should be getting recommendations for apartments with good security and property management. But for a single woman living alone, it was always best to be cautious.

Yu Meitong wasn’t worried about this: “The apartment I’m buying has two rooms. I plan to rent out the other one, and the rent can cover the mortgage perfectly.”

As the landlord, she could evict any tenant who broke her rules immediately without having to swallow her pride.
