Chapter 458 - Chapter 458 Chapter 446 Gu Wenfeng Wakes Up
Chapter 458: Chapter 446 Gu Wenfeng Wakes Up Chapter 458: Chapter 446 Gu Wenfeng Wakes Up Hong Kong has many wealthy people and thus many chaotic gangs, so kidnappings are quite common. Lu Jiaxin came to Hong Kong on guard for this but still couldn’t escape it.
Lu Jiaxin said with a somber expression, “If it hadn’t been for Brother Gu and Wang Lin, the kidnappers would have definitely succeeded. Right now, I don’t even know if he’s dead or alive.”
Seeing her worried expression, Su Heyuan tried to reassure her, “Don’t worry, Brother Feng will wake up soon. He’s survived gunfire and bullets before; he won’t let his lifetime reputation be ruined by a few kidnappers.”
Lu Jiaxin gave a forced smile, “I also hope he wakes up soon. Even if he becomes disabled in his left leg, it doesn’t matter; I can ensure he never has to worry about food or clothes for the rest of his life.”
To avoid adding to her psychological burden, Su Heyuan spoke lightheartedly, “That’s impossible. With Brother Feng’s personality, as long as he’s breathing he won’t accept handouts. However, you could offer to pay for his two sons’ education. For him, seeing his children succeed would be the greatest happiness.”
“I will definitely support them; I’ll cover all expenses until they come of age.”
To cheer her up, Su Heyuan spoke about his own romantic situation, “After Ye Xin found out about my break-up with Bai Jingshu, she came to see me once, but I didn’t meet her.”
“Doesn’t she think you broke up with Miss Bai because you can’t forget her?”
Su Heyuan shook his head, “I don’t know, and I don’t want to know. I have a friend who wants to introduce his sister to me. I’ve met her; she looks down on Mainland people.”
Neither this nor that is acceptable, what a difficult situation. But marriage is a big deal, and he has to be happy with it; otherwise, he won’t be happy even if he gets married.
Thinking about how he could put up with a girlfriend having someone else in her heart for the sake of his career, Lu Jiaxin realized how much importance he placed on business. After contemplating, she asked, “Big Brother Su, what’s the direction for your Flourishing Real Estate development?”
After acquiring the real estate company, he renamed it Flourishing Real Estate, which was a pretty good name.
That was an odd question. Su Heyuan responded, “Of course, it’s Hong Kong.”
Lu Jiaxin bluntly said, “Hong Kong real estate is like a big cake, and the biggest slices have been divided by the four major families. Wansheng Real Estate has a strong foundation, but even so, Nie Zhan has had to put in a lot of effort just to barely earn a seat at their table. You entered the game late, with limited funds and not enough connections, so at most, you’ll only get to taste a bit of the soup.”
Understanding Lu Jiaxin well, Su Heyuan realized she had some ideas when she spoke like this, “So, where do you think Flourishing Real Estate should head?”
“The Mainland.”
Su Heyuan was taken aback, “Do you mean the Mainland?”
Lu Jiaxin confirmed, “You heard me right, the Mainland. You should know better than I do how tight housing is in the Mainland. Now with the Mainland vigorously developing its economy, what’s the first thing people will do once they have money? Definitely improve their living conditions.”
“I’ve said the same to Nie Zhan, and he’s already started planning for it. However, you have a wide network in the Mainland, and with Uncle Xie and Aunt Su, you naturally have the upper hand.”
Su Heyuan was all too familiar with the Mainland; he shook his head and said, “Real estate in the Mainland might not take off within ten years.”
Lu Jiaxin replied, “That’s why you need to lay the groundwork now. Plus, the Mainland is in dire need of development in all areas; as long as you do well, there’s no worry about not making money. Look at the home appliance factories–they’re quite profitable now, aren’t they?”
Su Heyuan was different from Nie Zhan. His advantage lay in the Mainland, while Nie Zhan, who started with a higher base, aimed for the global market–this was coincidentally in sync with her own thoughts.
Lu Jiaxin felt hungry and picked up an apple from the bedside table to nibble on.
After pondering for a while, Su Heyuan said, “Jiaxin, thank you.”
Lu Jiaxin smiled, “What’s there to thank me for? I own twenty percent of Flourishing Real Estate, and I plan to increase my shares. If the company makes money, my wallet will be bulging too.”
In the real estate business in Hong Kong, Su Heyuan had no advantage and could at most develop Flourishing Real Estate into a medium-sized company. However, if he set his sights on the Mainland, as long as he remained steadfast and refrained from messing around, he would definitely become a conglomerate worth hundreds of billions in the future.
After finishing the apple, Lu Jiaxin went with Su Heyuan to visit Gu Wenfeng.
When the two arrived outside the ICU, Lu Jiaxin said to Su Heyuan, “Big Brother Su, there is half an hour of visiting time each day. Can you go in and talk with him?”
Seeing Su Heyuan looking at her, Lu Jiaxin suggested, “You just said Brother Gu has survived through gunfire and bullets and won’t let his lifetime of reputation be ruined by a few kidnappers. Big Brother Su, I don’t know what missions Brother Gu has accomplished or how many merits he has made in the past. You go in and talk to him about these things.”
Su Heyuan was startled, “I don’t know much either.”
Lu Jiaxin thought that didn’t matter. What was important was to talk about his past, to arouse his fighting spirit so he would wake up sooner. Every time she looked through the glass and saw Gu Wenfeng unconscious and hooked up to tubes, she felt particularly distressed, extremely guilty, and scared.
“Alright.”
Su Heyuan put on protective gear and a face mask and went inside, while Lu Jiaxin waited outside.
Miao Na said, “Boss, you go back to the ward and wait. I’ll let you know as soon as there’s any news.”
Lu Jiaxin didn’t agree and opted to wait right there. The visiting time for the ICU was limited to just one hour per day.
Unable to persuade her, Miao Na could only sit beside her and wait. They had expected that Su Heyuan would come out once the visiting time was over, but to their surprise, after just over ten minutes, he suddenly ran out saying Gu Wenfeng had awakened.
Lu Jiaxin had also wanted to give it a try and didn’t expect it to actually succeed, “Doctor, doctor, quickly call the doctor to check on Brother Gu.”
The attending doctor arrived very quickly. After performing a full examination on Gu Wenfeng, he was then transferred to a general ward.
Lu Jiaxin’s heavy heart finally settled, and with tears in her eyes, she choked up, “Brother Gu, you’ve finally awakened. If you hadn’t, I would have had to call your wife over.”
Gu Wenfeng showed a weak smile, “Rest assured, I’m not so easy to kill. Jiaxin, why are you also wearing a hospital gown?”
Lu Jiaxin didn’t lie to him and shared, “That night I sweated cold sweat all over my body and then got caught in the wind, so I got a fever the next day. Actually, I was fine once the fever subsided, but I was too worried about you to leave the hospital.”
Gu Wenfeng, seeing her thin face, knew she hadn’t been eating or sleeping well these past days, “Now that I’m okay, you should hurry up, get discharged, and go home to rest properly.”
Hearing the two’s conversation, Miao Na felt that their relationship was not that of a boss and bodyguard, but rather like father and daughter.
His awakening meant he was out of danger, and the rest was just a matter of slow recovery.
This time, Lu Jiaxin agreed readily, “Okay, I’ll have them arrange the discharge so I can go home. Brother Gu, you also need to recover quickly.”
Gu Wenfeng nodded gently.
Lu Jiaxin asked again, “Brother Gu, I’m thinking of bringing your wife and child over to take care of you. What do you think?”
The couple had always lived separately due to work, which was unavoidable, but during the recovery period, they could certainly be together. Like Zong Jinghua, who had left for Australia yesterday.
Gu Wenfeng shook his head, “Your sister-in-law doesn’t speak Cantonese and can’t get used to the food here, so let’s not have her come. Once I’m a bit better, I’ll go back to the Forty-nine City to recuperate.”
“Okay.”
