Chapter 450 - Chapter 450 Chapter 438 Sea Fishing
Chapter 450: Chapter 438 Sea Fishing Chapter 450: Chapter 438 Sea Fishing Nie Zhan stayed at the Lu Residence that night. Having missed each other terribly for over half a month, the two of them frolicked until the middle of the night before going to sleep. The next day, when Lu Jiaxin woke up, she felt a soreness in her back.
Seeing Nie Zhan lying next to her, she said irritably, “Why are you still here? Aren’t you going to work today?”
When Nie Zhan saw that she was awake, he leaned over to kiss her and said with a smile, “I can’t be busy with work every day. I’ll take a day off today to spend some quality time with you.”
Lu Jiaxin hummed, “I don’t need your company. Hurry up and go to work.”
Nie Zhan found her languid look utterly adorable, and he leaned in to kiss her again but were pushed away by Lu Jiaxin: “You stink, go brush your teeth.”
After they both freshened up, Nie Zhan held Lu Jiaxin and whispered in her ear, “Xinxin, would it be okay if I moved in with you?”
Lu Jiaxin rejected the idea without a second thought, “No, I’m not used to living together.”
She just wanted to enjoy a sweet romance; the idea of cohabiting did not appeal to her! Once they cohabited, all their flaws would be exposed to each other. But that was a secondary concern; she was worried that over time they might start to feel like an old married couple, and she was too young to want that kind of life. Things were good as they were now, Nie Zhan busy with work and she with her studies, meeting up for dates whenever they had the time.
Nie Zhan had only asked tentatively, so he wasn’t disappointed by her refusal. During breakfast, he asked, “Jiaxin, it’s cloudy today. How about we go fishing out at sea?”
Fishing sounded like fun, and Lu Jiaxin agreed, “If there’s no sun, we could also dive into the sea for a swim.”
She had swum in the sea in the Maldives and even had fish swimming by her side while she was in the water. The environment was quite good in the Mainland now, only the development was incomplete, and the facilities were not yet well-established.
Seeing her agreement, Nie Zhan immediately called to arrange for a yacht. Just as they were getting ready to leave, Nie Zhan received a call from Hu Zhifeng, inviting him to play golf.
Nie Zhan said with a smile, “My Xinxin wants to go out to sea for fishing, so I’m going to accompany her fishing today.”
Lu Jiaxin rolled her eyes at him; he didn’t want to play golf and was using her as an excuse to get out of it.
Hu Zhifeng was a bit surprised, “Jiaxin is back? My sister-in-law was just saying the other day that she hadn’t seen Jiaxin in a while and missed her!”
Nie Zhan looked at Lu Jiaxin and only said into the phone after seeing her nod, “Then let’s see when sister-in-law is available, and Jiaxin will arrange to have afternoon tea with her.”
The mother and grandmother of the Hu Family were both still living and were traditional women, so their household ran in an old-fashioned way. Not only Lu Jiaxin, but Yu Meitong and Shi Xinyu also didn’t enjoy going there. Knowing this, Zong Shimeng would always arrange for them to gather outside.
“Alright, I’ll talk to her later.”
Lu Jiaxin went upstairs to grab a swimsuit and a couple of sets of clothes before setting out. When she reached the dock and saw the yacht, she was somewhat surprised; it was bigger than she had anticipated.
“This yacht looks to be about thirty meters long, doesn’t it?”
Nie Zhan said with a smile, “No, it’s only twenty-six meters. It was considered big at the time. The one I’ve custom ordered is thirty-six meters, but it won’t be delivered until next year.”
“Wow, you custom-ordered a yacht? When did you order it?”
“At the beginning of the year,” said Nie Zhan. “With the yacht, we can go out to sea anytime we want.” The yacht belonged to his older brother, and though borrowing it from one another wasn’t a problem, it wasn’t very convenient. If his brother needed it for himself, then they wouldn’t be able to use it for a sea outing.
Lu Jiaxin laughed, “Since you bought one, I don’t need to buy another one.”
She had planned to buy a yacht after graduating from college, inviting friends out for sea outings on good weather days, suitable for either fishing or swimming. But since Nie Zhan was buying one, there was no need for her to make an additional purchase.
“No need to buy one, what’s mine is yours.”
Lu Jiaxin loved hearing that, “Let’s go then, let’s get on board.”
The yacht was luxurious, with a refrigerator, air conditioning, and even plush beds and sofas. Nie Zhan pointed to the bed and said, “I had someone change the sofa covers and the bedding to new ones for you, so after you tire from playing, you can sleep on the bed.”
He knew that Lu Jiaxin was a stickler for cleanliness, he had specially called to have the sofa covers and bedding changed, all to give Lu Jiaxin a good experience.
Lu Jiaxin yawned and said, “I’ll sleep now, let me know when we get there.”
She hadn’t slept enough the night before, and now was the perfect time to catch up on some sleep so she could have fun when they arrived. Her decision proved to be the right one, as it took another two hours to reach the sea fishing spot.
Lu Jiaxin was woken up and walked out of the cabin, stretching lazily as she gazed at the azure sea. Although it was a cloudy day, the scenery was still charming.
“Miao Na, bring me my camera,” she called.
Nie Zhan was used to Lu Jiaxin taking photos when she arrived at a place, photographing to her heart’s content before playing. After she finished, he would take her fishing.
The fishing equipment on the boat was state-of-the-art. Baiting the hook and casting it into the sea, Nie Zhan said, “Once, my big brother caught a one hundred and twenty-pound grouper, didn’t even share it with friends, just brought it home to show us.”
For someone like Nie Jingwen who had tasted all the delicacies from the mountains to the sea, catching such a big fish himself held a different significance. It was his trophy, something to show off to family and friends.
With a smile, Lu Jiaxin said, “Let’s see if we can outdo your big brother then.”
As it turned out, catching a grouper over a hundred pounds wasn’t something you could just do if you felt like it. Lu Jiaxin caught a variety of fish including grouper and eel, but the heaviest was only around twenty pounds.
Nie Zhan was a better fisherman than Lu Jiaxin, but his luck today was not as good, and he only caught a few eels. On the other hand, Gu Wenfeng had a streak of incredible luck, landing a thirty-plus pound tuna.
Miao Na said with a smile, “Looks like we’re in for a treat today.”
After an hour and a half of fishing, they had a basket full of fish. Nie Zhan had people select the ones to be eaten for the kitchen and the rest to be stored in the freezer with ice blocks. On such a hot day, they would spoil quickly if not chilled.
The chef prepared a lavish lunch, and everyone ate until their faces were slick with oil.
After eating their fill, Lu Jiaxin and Nie Zhan lay on the deck, basking in the sea breeze, feeling utterly content.
Lu Jiaxin suggested,” In a couple of days, I’ll invite my sister-in-law, Yu Meitong, and Xinyu here to go fishing.”
Nie Zhan immediately said, “My sister-in-law has to take care of the kids, and since this would take a whole day, she probably won’t be able to come.”
Lu Jiaxin frowned and said, “The kids have nannies and wet nurses, and there are people at home to watch over them. What’s the problem with coming out to play for a day?”
Nie Zhan hesitated to speak about the Hu Family’s matters, “It’s normal for very young kids to not be able to leave their mother.”
“Normal my ass,” Lu Jiaxin thought. Zong Shimeng’s youngest child was almost ready for kindergarten. Clearly, the elders in the family were quite strict. Lu Jiaxin spoke with some emotion, “Getting married and having kids sounds terrifying. You’re not even allowed to go out and have fun. I might as well not marry or have kids in the future.”
Hearing this, Nie Zhan hurriedly said, “Zhifeng is the eldest in the family and lives in the old residence, where there are many elders; it’s certainly inconvenient. I won’t live with grandpa in the future, just the two of us. You can do whatever you want, with no one to stop you.”
Hu Zhifeng was to inherit the family business, so he had more responsibilities and, likewise, stricter expectations for his wife.
Lu Jiaxin didn’t want to continue the topic and suggested, “Let’s go swimming!”
For Nie Zhan, that was, of course, no problem at all.
“Splash, splash…”
The two of them jumped into the water, one after the other, chasing and laughing with each other in the water. The laughter, like silver bells, made those on the boat smile as well.
