He was thirty-two and had worked at JP Morgan Chase for six years before joining a private equity fund. After a little over a year, he left for unknown reasons and returned to Hong Kong.

When Lu Jiaxin saw Mo Libin’s thick black hair, she found it quite rare. Top traders like him were easily prone to balding because of the high work pressure.

Mo Libin looked Lu Jiaxin over and then asked, “As far as I know, you only have Xinxin Real Estate and Green Forest under your name. Why do you want to hire a personal economic advisor?”

His tone seemed to imply that with such minor assets, there was absolutely no need to hire a personal economic advisor when cooperation with investment firms would suffice.

Lu Jiaxin smirked and countered, “Why did you come here then? With your experience, surely there are plenty of people who would want to hire you.”

Mo Libin said with a smile, “There are indeed plenty of people willing to hire me, but Nie Zhan asked me to meet you first. There’s no harm in refusing if you’re unsatisfied after meeting.”

When Lu Jiaxin got the news, she was surprised–why would someone with such high qualifications be willing to meet with her? She hadn’t expected it to be because of Nie Zhan.

Mo Libin said with a grin, “Didn’t Nie Zhan tell you? We were classmates at Harvard Business School. Afterward, he pursued a master’s degree, and I started working right after my undergraduate studies.”

“You two were college classmates?”

Mo Libin said with a laugh, “He’s a rare breed, advanced his studies early and even skipped three grades.”

Lu Jiaxin shook her head indicating Nie Zhan had never mentioned their college days. She wondered why that topic was so off-limits.

Mo Libin continued smiling, “He was very popular at school. Whether it was Eastern beauties or Western stunners, all had a soft spot for him. Unfortunately, the guy was somewhat insensitive to romance. He only had one girlfriend in college, and that lasted less than three months.”

As he said this, he looked at Lu Jiaxin and added, “Cecilia is incredibly beautiful, like a fairy out of a fairytale. You should be wary of her coming back and stealing Nie Zhan from you.”

Lu Jiaxin rolled her eyes, “A man who can be stolen isn’t worth pining over.”

Everyone around her said Nie Zhan was a catch and told her to treasure him. The problem was that it was useless if she was the only one cherishing the relationship. If a man’s heart was with you, no other woman could lure him away; if he fell out of love, no matter how hard you tried to keep him, you’d only be holding onto an empty shell. What’s the point?

Mo Libin couldn’t contain his amusement, “Now I can see why Nie Zhan likes you so much, he likes you enough to swallow his pride and ask for my help.”

Lu Jiaxin chuckled, “If I’m not mistaken, Nie Zhan must have told you to conceal the fact that you two were classmates for the time being, right?”

Mo Libin nodded, “He did say that. It shows he really cares about your feelings, but I think it’s better to be honest about these things, to avoid upsetting you later on.”

Lu Jiaxin indicated she wouldn’t be angry, knowing the truth would only make her happy.

Mo Libin thought Nie Zhan was being overly cautious, probably because he cared so much that he was extremely careful. Curiosity got the better of him, and he said, “If I were to stay and ask for a salary of two million, could you accept that?”

The change in topic was sudden, but Lu Jiaxin was quick to respond, “Does that mean you’ve agreed?”

Mo Libin said with a smile, “I want to see what’s so special about you that makes Nie Zhan, the Ice Mountain, care so much.”

Of course, the real reason was not this. According to his research, the market value of Lu Jiaxin’s Xinxin Real Estate was over six hundred million, with debts making up roughly forty percent, meaning her net assets were more than 3.7 billion. This girl had come over from mainland China two years ago and now had a fortune worth several billion. Her speed of making money was not inferior to the tycoons of Hong Kong. He wanted to see if she could continue to create bigger miracles in the future.

If it weren’t for the recommendation from the headhunting company, seeing him go on and on like this, Lu Jiaxin might have suspected him of being a scammer.

Thinking about his resume, Lu Jiaxin felt that this minor flaw was bearable, “My lawyer is on annual leave and won’t be back until next Wednesday, so let’s sign the contract next week.”
