Lu Jiaxin replied with a smile, “I went to visit my mom’s grave. I don’t come back often, so I definitely wanted to visit her first.”

Upon hearing this, Second Sister-in-law Lu couldn’t help but sigh, “At first, I thought it wasn’t right for you to move her grave, believing that people should be buried in their homeland. It’s just that during the Mid-Yuan festival, we asked your dad to go to your mom’s grave with us, but he said he was feeling unwell and didn’t go.”

Second Sister-in-law Lu said with concern, “Jiaxin, I really do hope that you can come back often. But with your father acting this way, once your mom’s grave is moved, there’s no need for you to come back. After all, that woman is young and has five kids, let them take care of him when he falls ill or something.”

Unless Lu Hongjun and Tang Sufen split up, she and her husband wouldn’t get involved. Even for the Big Brother and Big Aunt, she would urge them not to interfere.

Lu Jiaxin hummed in agreement and said, “I won’t come back unless there’s a reason. But Second Sister-in-law, you and the others are welcome to visit Hong Kong when you have time.”

Entering the main hall to see the visitors, Lu Jiaxin felt somewhat surprised. Seeing her indifferent demeanor, Lu Hongjun felt frustrated inside. He had given her so much, and not even a smile could be exchanged, “Jiaxin, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other, dad has missed you dearly.”

Lu Jiaxin asked, “Do you miss me, or are you thinking about the house I promised you? Right, you should have been informed about the house by Big Brother. Do you have time this afternoon? If so, I can take you to see it after we’ve eaten.”

Lu Hongjun looked at her and seeing that she wasn’t as cold and mocking as before, felt slightly better, “I looked at the house this morning; it’s in a great location, it’s just too small to live in.”

Although this was already expected by Second Sister-in-law Lu, she was still furious to hear it.

Lu Jiaxin, however, wasn’t angry and spoke calmly, “There are four rooms in this apartment. The master bedroom is for you, so I bought furniture for it and even partitioned off a bathroom for convenience. One of the other three rooms is for me, one is for Aunt Tang, and the last one is reserved for a caregiver to look after you when you’re older.”

Lu Hongjun was at a loss for words when he heard what she said.

Lu Jiaxin continued, “Dad, this apartment is just over thirty meters away from my older brother and sister-in-law’s place. If there’s an emergency, they can be here in a moment. I believe I have considered everything.”

Without waiting for him to speak, Lu Jiaxin went on, “Mrs. Tang has five children, and you think they should each have their own room, so a house with four rooms is too small. Shouldn’t we also consider rooms for their children and future grandchildren? By that logic, we would need to buy a place with at least eleven rooms. Dad, do you think I look like a fool?”

Second Sister-in-law Lu started cursing right away, “It’s your business if you want to spend your money on that Tang woman, but what does she have to do with Jiaxin? Why should she arrange living accommodations for her sons, daughters, or future grandkids? If you have the ability, buy it yourself. What’s this about troubling Jiaxin?”

Lu Hongjun clarified that Tang Sufen hadn’t said anything; it was his own wish for her and her children to live with him, “Jiaxin, I’m getting old and I don’t want to live in a house all alone. It feels too lonely. A place with more people is lively and makes me happy.”

Lu Jiaxin thought this wasn’t a real problem and said, “If you feel lonely living alone, you can live with my older brother and sister-in-law. They have plenty of rooms, and I’ll hire another caregiver to look after you without bothering them. I’m sure they’ll agree.”

With a two-entry mansion, Big Aunt and her family couldn’t occupy it all. With plenty of rooms and a caregiver to do the laundry and cooking for Lu Hongjun, Lu Jiaguang and Wang Xiaojie certainly wouldn’t refuse. Of course, this was impossible; how could Lu Hongjun possibly separate from the apple of his eye?

Lu Hongjun’s expression froze unnaturally as he said, “Aunt Tang and I are already married, how can we live with my older brother and his wife?”

Hearing this, Second Sister-in-law Lu wanted to scold him again, but Jiaxin stopped her, “Second Sister-in-law, Xiaoxiao, go outside. I need to talk to Dad for a moment.”

Though worried, Second Sister-in-law Lu still took Qian Xiaoxiao and the others out.

Lu Jiaxin looked at Lu Hongjun and said with a smile, “I know you have money, but you’re scared to spend it for fear of attracting suspicion. Give me the money, and I’ll buy you a bigger house, but the property has to be in my name.”

Lu Hongjun was furiously angry. This was no daughter; she was clearly a vampire. She had received so much from him and still wasn’t content, now she even wanted his last bit of money.

Suppressing his anger, Lu Hongjun said, “No, I only have a little over a thousand yuan left, and now the household depends on my monthly pension.”

Lu Jiaxin spread her hands out and said, “I don’t have any money either. After buying these two properties for you and my older brother, I mostly ran out of funds.”

Lu Hongjun couldn’t resist and said, “You think I’m a fool? How could you possibly be out of money? Just one of those old items can sell for hundreds of thousands.”

Lu Jiaxin let out a sigh, “With such knowledge of the market, it seems you still have treasures hidden from me. Give me all the treasures you kept, and I can swap them for a bigger house for you. With a big house, you can live with Mrs. Tang and her five children, all cozy and loving, day to day.”

She always talked with a mocking tone before, which angered him. But this veiled sarcasm was even more infuriating.
