Rearing Demons -
Chapter 71: Freau
Chapter 71: Freau
Yur followed the prince with Zhal until they finally reached an opening outside the forest. The opening led to a long road.
"Alright, I can summon my pet so we can get there a bit faster," said Renri as he pulled out a golden bell from his spatial ring. With a quick ding, particles began to float around before a large beast suddenly appeared.
Seeing this, Yur was intrigued. This was his first time witnessing such a summoning. "What is this?" he asked, curious about the bell and the creature slowly taking form.
"This?" The prince looked at Yur with a hint of confusion. "This is a summoning bell." He pointed to his own chest. "Any beast tamed by my blood can reside within my Cyralim, and this bell awakens and pulls them out."
Rubbing his chin, Yur nodded, somewhat surprised by the information. Although he could store things that carried his blood in his Cyralim—which included Jisvruul, Nyz, and Zhal—he had never considered that further.
Perhaps Velmira could also enter my Cyralim since she has my blood?
[Host cannot house Velmira! Only demons created through rituals such as the Ritual of Demon Mangling, as well as tamed beasts, are able to enter the Cyralim.]
What’s the difference between a tamed beast and Velmira? She is technically akin to a tamed beast, isn’t she?
[Velmira is loyal through the Rite of Blood Binding, but that differs from a tamed beast as they are more like ritual demons. Velmira is loyal to the Host but does not need to obey his commands!]
Yur nodded, somewhat understanding the words but still not entirely. The beast finally appeared—and it was very large, about the height of the trees. It resembled a massive tiger, though its fur was white and blue, with silver eyes and huge paws.
"This is my tamed beast, Drui!" Prince Renri smiled as he introduced the towering creature.
Yur sensed the beast’s aura and determined that it was only a rank-two beast. Despite its size and intimidating look, it was weak. "What kind of beast is this?" Yur questioned, curious about these creatures so prominent in Afloria.
Taken aback by Yur’s confusion, Prince Renri quickly explained, "These magical beasts are native to the mountain regions around my kingdom. They are known as Bitter Tigers. Generally born as rank-one Lesser Beasts, they have the ability to reach the rank-four Primordial Beast realm."
With a bit more understanding, Yur eyed Zhal. "Try to learn more about these beasts. The more you know, the easier it will be for you later." Zhal had his own tasks later, heavily related to magical beasts.
Zul, are there any rituals similar to the Ritual of Demon Mangling that can be used on beasts?
[Demons, humans, and beasts are fundamentally different; they cannot use the same type of rituals. If a human or beast is placed into the Ritual of Demon Mangling, then at least one demon must be present, and the result will always be a demon!]
Sure, but is there something that can be used for demons? Help me narrow it down in the shops.

[Complete!]
[There are no rituals for beasts in the shops!]
Yur felt a bit shocked by this. The shop had always shown him something, yet this was the first time it came back blank—nothing for him regarding beasts.
[Host is a demon and human hybrid! Host has nothing to do with beasts!]
Although it was unfortunate, Yur could accept it. In the end, it didn’t matter too much. He could find his own way later once he learned how rituals worked. Maybe he could create a ritual that would be useful for that.
"Sir Yur, you can hop on top of my beast; it will lead us back to the kingdom." Although Renri found it odd that someone as powerful as Yur did not have basic knowledge on beasts, he didn’t think too much about it. He was most likely pretending.
This was the only explanation that made sense to him—of course, he also didn’t need to think too much about it. Why would it matter?
Nodding, Yur hopped off the ground and stepped onto the top of the beast’s head. Zhal followed soon after, and finally the prince joined them.
"Drui, rush back to Freau."
Although Drui seemed a bit bothered by the additional two on his back, it didn’t complain aloud. It could tell that these two were much stronger than it by a large margin. Pressing its large paws against the ground, Drui rushed toward the long road, heading toward the Mortal Kingdom.
Velmira, what is going on?
While sitting on top, Yur closed his eyes and began communicating with Velmira. We are about to reach his sect. Unfortunately, aside from lusting after me, he isn’t speaking much.
Her voice sounded annoyed, irritated by the man who kept ogling her beauty and form. Figure out the strongest person in the area. If you are more powerful, go and capture them immediately.
Yur didn’t concern himself with how she felt—what mattered was the goal.
Understood. Can I kill him once I figure it out?
I don’t care.
Great!
With that, the conversation cut off and Yur turned his gaze to Renri, who sat behind him.
"Prince Renri, may I ask a question?" Yur feigned a polite tone, staring at the prince with forced kindness.
"Of course," the prince immediately nodded, the silence feeling suffocating.
"This kingdom of yours—are there others like it nearby?" Although he knew there would be others in Afloria, he wanted to understand the layout since the map he had only showed major cities and landmarks.
"Yes, there are many," Renri replied.
"Would you help refresh my memory on the layout? Sadly, I’ve been training for a while and never had the chance to learn these details." Yur lied to cover his lack of knowledge.
Although it was easier to simply force the information out, Yur understood one thing from his memories: using and manipulating others was a powerful tactic for the strong.
"No problem," Renri nodded and pulled out a paper map from his ring. He then pointed at various locations. "You see, we are in the central continent of Afloria—this is the largest and most powerful continent."
While listening, Yur mentally compared this map to the one he had, trying to add details that it lacked.
"Being so large, the continent is split into many regions. We reside in this region..." He pointed toward a small corner of the map. "The Nor Region."
Nor? So, this is the region I grew up in? For the first time in years, Yur finally learned of the place he once belonged to—the Nor Region in the Central continent.
"The Nor Region has a total of seven mortal kingdoms," Renri continued. "We used to have eleven, but during the battle between the Demon King and Sect Leader Olmi, the other kingdoms were completely wiped out."
"Demon King and Sect Leader Olmi?" Yur wondered aloud, unaware of that history. "I was training, so I don’t know about that event."
"Really?" Renri looked at Yur in stupor. "That battle completely threw Nor into chaos."
Yur could only shrug; he had no answer, which was, in its way, his answer.
"Well, it’s been only a month or so since then, so this is still fresh," Renri sighed. "The battle was between Sect Leader Olmi, the leader and protector of Nor. Sadly, he died trying to protect the region from Demon King Yukinly. The battle still impacts millions. Every day, we receive refugees from nearby villages and towns."
"Devastating," Yur said, his face expressionless.
"Truly is," Renri shook his head. "But anyway..." he continued. "My kingdom and the eastern Welit Mortal Kingdom are currently at war."
"Why?" Yur inquired.
"It’s complicated," Renri said. "When we arrive in the kingdom, I can explain in more detail—the history is very expansive."
"Sure," Yur nodded. "Then what about that disciple you faced? What was the deal with him?"
"Don’t get me started," Prince Renri frowned, grumbling at the thought. "Those sect members are breaking the rules. Normally, sects are not supposed to interfere with the mortal world, yet some despicable sects do."
Yur took mental notes.
As they continued talking, Yur finally saw a sight in the distance over a large hill.
"There it is," Prince Renri announced. "This is the capital city of the Freau Mortal Kingdom, Freau."
Yur stared at the vast city coming into view: large walls surrounded it, beautiful rivers flowed through, and many majestic trees dotted the landscape. To the left, a vast mountain range; to the right, open plains.
So, this is a Mortal Kingdom?
