Yur had been traveling with his demon Jisvruul for a while now.

Because his body couldn’t function as before, he had to use Jisvruul almost like a mount. Fortunately, Jisvruul followed every order without question—going against Yur’s commands seemed against the demon’s very nature.

Currently, they were heading toward the mountain where Velmira resided—now known as Velmira the Filthy. Only a few beings knew of her newly branded title; it wasn’t formally announced.

During their journey, they encountered a few Antics, which Jisvruul dispatched almost instantly. Through these fights, Yur got a better sense of Jisvruul’s power and was pleased with it; the demon was stronger than Ris in raw strength.

One thing Yur noticed was that every time Jisvruul killed something, Yur would earn "points" to help him rank up. So far, each Zorath demon was worth one point—but Jisvruul had to completely devour the demon for the point to count. If he simply killed it and walked away, Yur gained nothing.

Jisvruul, anything rank four or lower, kill them. If they’re rank five, just disable them!

At this point, Yur wanted to rank up quickly to regain use of his own body. Over the past few hours inside Jisvruul, he’d created all the Blood Sigils he needed and stored them in his Cyralim. Now, he just had to gather the Gralith required.

He didn’t really need Ris anymore since Jisvruul was loyal and stronger than her. The only loose end was the oath he had with Ris—but that was on her side, not his. If she found him, fine; if not, so be it.

For the most part, he stayed within his Cyralim, either resting or reading through Mal’s memories. With each day, he learned more about the world. Even though he was physically only ten, the influx of memories matured him mentally and even affected his growth: the Ashkavaal bloodline accelerated him both physically and psychologically.

He realized how vast reality was beyond Zulmasharr, which only reinforced his innate indifference to most things.

Graa! Suddenly, he heard Jisvruul growl from within his Cyralim.

We’re here? Although Yur couldn’t see, he understood Jisvruul’s signals clearly, as if they shared one mind. Outside, Jisvruul had encountered a large mountain that was now eerily barren—no sign of Antics or Weeping Lords anywhere, utterly devoid of life.

Following Yur’s instructions, Jisvruul began to ascend the mountain.

Though it was formidable, Jisvruul easily scaled it on all fours—a disturbing sight if anyone had been watching. Jisvruul’s body itself was grotesquely humanoid yet fundamentally alien: each elongated limb ended in vibrating claws that distorted the air. Its face was a gaping, grinning maw lined with countless blinking eyes deep in its throat. The torso was hollow, a pulsating prison of tendrils and vague silhouettes pressed against a membranous interior—within which Yur resided. Two ragged flesh-wings fanned out, carrying shifting faces that wept silently.

Jisvruul, climb the mountain and find the cave, Yur commanded from inside his Cyralim.

Obeying, Jisvruul climbed. Near the top, it spotted a creature standing on the edge, gazing down with a tortured expression.

"GRISHHH!" Jisvruul hissed at the figure, wings shrieking, countless eyes blinking rapidly.

What is it, Jisvruul? Yur inquired from within.

Gra Gra!A Gralith Demon.

Hearing that, Yur nodded. Likely his first demon to trap in the Blood Sigils. Capture it, but don’t kill it.

Jisvruul nodded its massive head.

Facing the demon ahead—formerly Brune—Jisvruul bent its body unnaturally, opening its maw wide. "ARAAAAAA!"

The roar made the surrounding rocks vibrate and crumble. The Gralith demon trembled, blood trickling from its body as it grew enraged. It howled back and lunged at Jisvruul with a spear fused into its own flesh. The demon had eyes all over its body, yet none on its blank face.

Jisvruul moved aside, dodging easily, and swiped with massive claws, knocking the demon away.

"ARAAAAA!" the Gralith—Brune—suddenly had all the eyes covering its body burst into pus-like fluid. Glaring with a roar, it readied to retaliate. But Jisvruul’s maw lunged forward to bite it, forcing the demon to dodge. Now effectively blind, the creature stumbled.

Though it was stronger than a typical Gralith, it paled next to Jisvruul—a demon forged from dozens of Antics plus Yur’s own blood.

Jisvruul, hurry up! Yur urged. They were clearly outclassing it, and he wanted to end the fight soon.

In response, Jisvruul unleashed multiple attacks simultaneously. A series of howls and shrieks battered Brune’s senses. Then Jisvruul’s large claws seized the demon, hoisting it aloft. Opening its gruesome maw, Jisvruul crunched down on the demon’s legs, breaking them before swallowing it into its hollow body.

Zul, activate the Blood Sigil! Yur commanded inside the "stomach."

Suddenly, from Yur’s physical form—hidden in Jisvruul’s membrane—blood seeped out. A cage-like rune appeared, its gate opening to draw the captured demon in. Because Brune was effectively blinded and its senses destroyed, it had no idea what was happening—it simply fell into the rune cage.

Now! With an inward growl, Yur shut the gate and instantly transferred the demon into his Cyralim.

"GRAAAA!" the demon howled inside the Cyralim, darkening the sky there. But in his domain, Yur possessed full movement—even though externally he was crippled—and he began the next step.

Using the demonic essence from his Severed Crucible, he guided it around the cage with Zul’s help, attempting to drain the demon’s power. Brune, of course, fought back, trying to absorb the swirling essence for itself, and it became a tug-of-war.

Jisvruul! Weaken him further! Yur called.

Because Jisvruul was formed from Yur’s blood, it too could manifest inside the Cyralim. Suddenly, a mass of eyes appeared across the sky, blinking in unison.

"GRAAA!" Demon Brune cried out, weakening further. This gave Yur and Zul the chance to pull away even more of its energy.

[Congratulations!]

[Blood Sigil (Demon Brune {Rank 5}) Complete!]

[Reward: 400 Demon Points!]

"How strong are these damned demons?!" Back in the cave, Karo was covered in injuries as he fought against the two Gralith trying to rush into the room.

Velmira watched from the side, concern plain on her face. She might be proud in front of others, but she wanted to be softer around Karo. "Just run, you!"

Hearing her words, he rolled his eyes. "It’s not ’you’—it’s Karo!"

"Karo..." she repeated, remembering the name.

"Any ideas? Any weaknesses?" he wondered, kicking one of the Gralith and sending it flying, though the second one charged right after.

"These Gralith are weak to sensory attacks," she explained. "They’re hypersensitive to sound and light, so they react worse to them."

"Fuck!" Frowning, he felt the situation turn more dire; he didn’t have any sensory-type attacks.

Worse still, it wasn’t just their strength—it was their relentless pursuit. They kept throwing themselves back into the fight as if their lives depended on it. Even a few Zorath in the back joined in, not doing much damage but still annoying.

"How long until you heal?!" he called back.

"It will take a while!" she replied. "That mark drained me completely."

"Fuck, fuck!" Kicking one of the Gralith again, he dashed toward the bed. "Come here!" He motioned for her, then quickly scooped her up into a hug.

An aura flared around him, acting like a shield.

"We’ll try to break through!" He had no other choice.

Though it would be risky, a prolonged battle would guarantee his loss. Velmira didn’t argue—she just wrapped her arms and legs around him. Karo narrowed his eyes, waiting for the perfect moment to rush out.

Just as he was about to charge—

"ARAAAA!" A howl ripped through his mind, sudden and brutal.

"Ah!" Velmira cried out in pain, making Karo look down to see blood trickling from her eyes.

He instantly used all his essence to form a barrier around her, protecting her from the sound—yet leaving himself exposed.

"Guh!" With her safe inside his barrier, he staggered, eyes and ears bleeding, blood spilling from his mouth. "What the hell was that?!"

The sound was so eerie, it froze all the Gralith in the room in place. Narrowing his eyes, he spotted a skinny figure at the end of the hall, standing there ominously.
