Chapter 107: Velmira’s Abilities

Chapter 107: Velmira’s Abilities

With the first ritual circle now complete, Yur waited for the newly created guards to awaken.

"Velmira, did you find out where the Luminous Heart cultivators are?" he asked.

She shook her head. "So far, there’s no news. Even when I try sensing them, nothing comes up. I’m assuming they’re not in the city."

"That’s fine, then." If they were here, it would have complicated things. He needed them for a separate task, so killing them now was out of the question. "What about your breakthrough? What do you need for it?"

As his strongest follower, Yur needed Velmira to advance. Curious, he pulled up her profile:

Despite killing several rank-six humans, she remained stuck, unable to take the final step. This was unusual. As a demon, all she should need was to consume beings. Why was it taking so long? Did she need to consume a more powerful, higher-ranked demon?

If that was true, he’d need to send her back to Zulmasharr to hunt Valgaths. However, Valgaths typically resided in territories controlled by Dyrmath and Rakshar, making it risky. Moreover, Velmira now appeared human without a demon form, making her a prime target—especially as an exile.

"I’m not sure either," Velmira shrugged. "I don’t think consuming demons or humans will help. Something else is needed, but I don’t know what."

Hearing this, Yur rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

Zul, what do you think the issue is? Is it because she’s part of the Ashkavaal bloodline now?

[Correct!]

[Those with Ashkavaal bloodlines can only rank up through rituals!]

So, not only must he complete his own rituals, but he had to manage extra ones as well. This would be annoying.

Are there no other options?

Suddenly, Zul displayed a large image, filling Yur’s vision. It depicted a massive, black cauldron made of obsidian-like material.

The Obsidian Communion?

A brief description appeared:

|——————————————|

The Obsidian Communion

A large cauldron made from Pure Ashkavaal blood and Obsidian.

A training ground for all demons linked to the host, allowing them to train, rank up, or die trying!

Note: Does not affect demons stronger than the host.

Examining the list of materials and its effects, Yur immediately understood its usefulness. While it would certainly help create more powerful demons, the requirements were too demanding for now. He had other pressing matters to handle first.

As for Velmira’s ritual...

This is beyond what I can do anytime soon.

He quickly dismissed the details. It was even more difficult than the Obsidian Communion.

While he reviewed this information, the cocoons broke apart, revealing the newly converted sect disciples—all naked. Yur didn’t pay much attention to their appearances, as they were merely temporary tools.

"All of you will protect this area," Yur commanded coldly. "No one should enter. Kill anyone who trespasses. Understood?"

Still dazed from their awakening, they nodded in confusion.

Velmira shook her head, dissatisfied. "Shall I help out?"

"What do you mean?" Yur looked at her skeptically.

"You know my past. I once created thousands of demons—I can help with this." Though she didn’t say it outright, Velmira considered Yur’s current methods weak.

Jisvruul, Zhal, and Nyz were powerful because they’d been created through proper rituals. But Quin and these disciples had undergone a mere Ritual of Blood Binding, giving them loyalty and the Ashkavaal bloodline but little else.

Without waiting, Velmira effortlessly gathered the humans as if they were toys. She separated them into two piles and, with minimal movements, broke their bodies apart.

Blood and flesh flew silently into the air without pain or screams, quickly recombining into two entirely new humans—one female, one male.

Yur sensed their auras, surprised at their strength. Rank four and rank three? Even his Ritual of Demon Mangling couldn’t create beings of such strength from mere rank-two humans.

To create Jisvruul, he’d needed numerous rank-four demons, yet Velmira had created a rank-four from three rank-twos and a rank-three from two rank-twos. It was unbelievable.

Zul, are there rituals this effective? Yur searched basic rituals previously but found nothing comparable. Witnessing Velmira’s power, Yur now wanted something equally potent.

[Processing...]

[Complete!]

[Advanced Ritual: Crucible of Flesh!]

[Advanced Ritual: Dirge of the Damned!]

[Advanced Ritual: Harvest of the Hollowed!]

[...]

Hundreds of rituals appeared, but they lacked descriptions. The prices were listed as [???], something new.

Zul, what does this mean?

[Host must reach a specific rank to access these rituals. Demon Points will become only part of the payment for higher-level rituals and items.]

Yur frowned. Another waiting period. Everything seemed to involve waiting, further motivating him to quickly gather offspring. They’d help reduce these delays and allow faster learning of rituals. Once this is all over, I’ll focus on Xia’s mark.

"Alright," Yur said aloud, turning to Velmira. "With these two, we’ll have stronger guards. Have them protect the ritual."

"You can command them," Velmira smiled. "My creations belong to you." Yur had freed her; everything she had was his.

Yur nodded, issuing direct commands to the newly formed beings. They immediately took positions guarding the ritual circle. Yur then purchased two weapons from the Zulmasharr shop, equipping them appropriately. He also gave them new clothing, ensuring they wouldn’t attract unnecessary attention.

"Now then, let’s head to Welit Castle. We’ll begin the plan," Yur said, stepping back into the alley, Velmira following close behind. "You’ll help me create more of these circles in the locations I specify, understood?"

"Yes," Velmira responded softly, her eyes glinting with anticipation.

Rank three... it’ll happen soon.

"Zhal, come here and eat with us." Back in the large garden, the Queen and her children had gathered for lunch. Silo called out to the siren boy, who stood quietly at a distance, watching.

The Queen turned and smiled, waving him over as well. Over the nearly one week they’d spent together, she had grown fond of this silent boy. He never complained nor showed any irritation. Plus, he was a sweet child, reminding her of her own children when they were younger.

Zhal hesitated briefly, but seeing the Queen’s gentle smile, he approached. Taking a seat next to Prince Fren, he quietly accepted the food passed to him by Silo. "Here, try this," she said softly, offering him several meat pastries and juices.

Despite his great strength, they still viewed Zhal as childlike, especially in how he carried himself.

"So, Zhal, will you follow Duke Yur when he leaves?" Prince Fren asked. Although not announced publicly, the King had informed the family that Yur planned to leave after the war, news passed on by Julian.

Zhal paused thoughtfully before nodding. What else could he do? Yur had already made it clear. Once they left, he was to enter the deeper forests for a specific task.

"I see," Fren said with a nod. "It makes sense. People with cultivation talent like yours and Duke Yur’s are bound to go far." Fren knew his own limitations.

He understood that their family lacked such extraordinary talent—even Julian, once considered the most talented individual in all of Vestranor, was nothing compared to geniuses like Yur and Zhal.

Queen Vilis reached out, gently touching Fren’s arm and giving him a concerned smile.

"I know, Mother. I’m not sad about this," Fren reassured her warmly. "The cultivation world is far too chaotic for someone like me. Even life as a prince is sometimes overwhelming."

Despite Fren’s serious appearance, he retained an innocent, childlike quality. He hadn’t received the intense training or attention given to Renri, so he’d grown up relatively normal.

"Still, it’s quite surprising that Xia is planning to join you both," Fren added thoughtfully. "Shocking, even."

"I agree," Ley chimed in from the side. "Ever since that night, she never wanted to leave Uncle Julian’s side."

Listening to her children speak, Vilis quietly wiped a tear from her eyes. Zhal noticed her sadness and felt confused.

"You probably don’t know what happened, right?" Fren asked, shaking his head softly. "I wasn’t even born when it occurred, but this incident is famous throughout Vestranor, even beyond."
