Chapter 40: James Moon

"What the fuck do you mean?!" Larry barked shaking her to and fro.

"She took her.." Ali cried again.

Larry felt his world tilt on its axis.

Raven had abducted Millie.

He still didn’t believe it. He couldn’t believe it.

This is a joke! He told himself. It’s gotta be a joke! It’s gotta be!

Millie was the only left in his life whom he cared about. Lara is gone, now her too? If anything happens to Millie, he wasn’t sure he could live with himself.

Just then, his phone rang.

He already knew who the caller was. He picked it up and put the phone on his ears.

"I remember when I did this with Lara." Raven’s snickering voice came through phone, "It was fun. The trembling in her voice, the fear... I loved it. Too bad she’s gone now. She’ll be missed by no one, since you’ll be joined her."

Larry closed his eyes, and clenched his trembling fist. Then in a husky voice that didn’t sounded like his, he asked, "Is she okay?"

"Hmm, that depends." Raven replied.

"What do want?" Larry asked, "Money? I have tons. Power? What? Just name your price you motherfucking bitch!"

"Ah ah ah! Watch your tone Larry." Raven said, "You’re in the place to talk to me that way..."

"I said what do you fucking want from me?!" He barked.

"Your sanity." She replied, "Your will to live. You took away mine. I’m gonna do the same. Oh! Your girlfriend is awake."

Larry heard Millie grunt in pain. And then he heard Raven snarl, "Speak to your Daddy or else..."

"B... babe!!" Millie’s trembling voice came, "I’m... scared. Please come save me... ahh!"

Larry heard her piercing scream as Raven struck her. He clenched his fist so bad that his fingers dug deep into his flesh.

He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. He was so consumed by fear, worry, and the regret of ever preying on Raven

That was the first time he had ever regretted preying on her, after all this years. Clouded by ultimatum rage, he smashed the phone on floor, "Fuck!!!"

Ali, who was still regaining her strength, along with the bodyguards watched in silence as the scene envelope.

He ran his hands through his hair, fuming, cursing, and brooding of what to do next.

"What do we do boss?" one of the men asked.

Larry didn’t respond. He sprawled out on the floor, and leaned on the wall.

Think! Think, Larry! Think! He told himself, there must be something I can use against her. There must be something! You gotta think!

But what? Raven had no one! Her family was destroyed ten years ago, there’s no way to locate her.

Then it struck him!

Yes! It was only her mother and sister’s corpse was found in the fire! Yes! She had a brother! She and her brother weren’t home at the time when the fire killed her mother and her sister! Yes!

Larry quickly sprang to his feet.

He had found Raven’s weakness. Finally!

"Boys? We got work to do."

Meanwhile, Raven and Millie were in Millie’s Lamborghini as they were being driven to Adam’s penthouse.

They had both joined in on the plan to make seem as though Raven has kidnapped her. And Larry had believed everything hook, line and sinker!

The vehicle stopped just in front of the skyscraper and they stepped out.

Raven entered the building while Millie instructed the driver if what to do. When the driver drove off, Millie joined Raven in the elevator.

The elevator took them to the last floor.

"Uh... shouldn’t you be at work?" Adam asked, his eyes on Millie, he recognized her immediately as the famous supermodel. "Aren’t you Millie Hogan?"

"That’s me." Millie said, waving a little. "Hi."

"Hi."

"My boss is too preoccupied to notice my absence." Raven said, resting on the sofa. "And I found my imposter."

"Really?"

"Yes." Raven answered, "And it’s Millie."

Adam averted her gaze to Millie.

Millie smiled, "I did a pretty good job."

"Uh... Raven, can I talk to you for a second? In private?" Adam inquired.

"Sure." Raven got to her feet.

"Please have a seat, Millie. Feet at home." Adam gave her a fake smile, turning on the TV for her.

"Thank you." Millie replied, making herself comfortable on the couch.

Adam led Raven to the door, out of Millie’s hearing.

"What were you thinking bringing her here?" Adam asked in a hush voice, "You can bring anyone here!"

Raven remembered. Yes, neither of them were to bring anyone in. The penthouse was only for the both of them.

"Oh! Sorry." She apologized, "I’m so sorry Adam, it’s just that we made Larry believe I abducted her, and she can’t go home. Larry might check her home and when he sees her there, he’ll find out that we were only bluffing. Please, just let her stay till we’re done with Larry."

Adam let out a resigned sigh, as he rubbed his forehead. "Okay, she can stay. When will you be done with Larry?" He asked.

"This week, maybe." She answered. "After he’s done, the next on the line is Dante Perez.".

"Damn. Dante Perez will be really hard considering he’s now a politician." Adam said, hesitated then asked, "Will you kill Larry?"

"No, I won’t kill anyone else unless I have to." She answered, "I just want to drive them crazy and make them lose their sanity, then they’ll live the rest of their miserable lives in pity and regret."

"Whoa!" Adam blurted, "You sound scary."

Raven was about to say something when her phone beeped. She fished for her phone and saw a picture.

At first, she thought she was seeing wrong. It was a picture of his big brother, James, with blood all over his face.

It has been over ten years since she saw or heard from him. He had forsaken her after their family’s ruin.

Then her phone rang and she quickly picked it up.

It was a video call.

"Raven, Raven, Raven." Larry said snickering, he was pulling James hair and his face was a brutal mess of blood as he was gagged for breath.

Hee mouth fell agape, "James!"
