Chapter 19: "... I’m gonna take two of yours.."

Lara was practically trembling. She couldn’t bring herself to think what Raven would do to her little girl.

She felt weak, and numb and defenseless.

Truly, she had underestimated Raven. Raven wasn’t the same Raven she used to know. She wasn’t the same helpless girl whom she had completely ruined her life... this Raven was different.

Darker... terrifying!

"Wh... what... what do you want?" She trembled, the sound of her voice a sound that grated on her nerves. "I swear to God if you touch a single strand of hair on my daughter’s head..."

"You’ll what?" Raven taunted, interrupting her, "What will you do Lara? Huh? What will you do? It’s not like there’s anybody else in my life left for you, your family, and your friends to kill. Or is there?"

Lara closed her eyes and clenched her fist.

What will she tell Felipe? How will she defend herself? What if Raven hurts Lucy? She can’t forgive herself if anything were to happen to her little pumpkin.

"Is my daughter safe?" She asked, telling herself to calm down.

"Why don’t you find out for yourself?"

Lucy’s animated voice came on the phone. "Mammy!"

Lucy’s voice reassured Lara that her daughter was safe... at least for now. "Oh, my dear Lucy!" She said, "Are you okay?"

"Yes, Mammy!" Lucy replied in her sweet little voice, "In fact, I feel awesome! Thanks for letting me stay at Aunt Raven’s place, Mammy! Aunt Raven and her boyfriend, Uncle Adam took me to the park! I rode on the merry-go-round, the Ferris wheel, oh, and Uncle Adam got me a vanilla ice cream with a big bunny doll!"

"Okay, I’m... glad you’re safe sweetie, can... can you give the phone back to..."

"Here I am!" Raven’s voice came back on the line. "Your daughter sure loves me. I’m gonna be a great aunt."

"What do you want?" Lara asked, controlling the urge to get hysterical, "Money? I can give you money. Just name your price. I’ll have my trust officer arrange that. Just leave me the heck alone."

"Why would I do that?" Raven asked, "Lara, you destroyed my life, my family. Why would you think I want money from you?"

Lara’s rage was materializing, she couldn’t harness it any longer. "Then what do you want goddamn it!"

Raven’s voice turned icy. "You took an eye from me, Lara... I’m gonna take two of yours and more! I’ll destroy you! I’m gonna make sure you grovel and beg me, like I did. I’ll take everything you have and make sure you burn in hell!"

"Your threats don’t scare me!" Lara said, trying to sound defiant even though she was scared of what might happen to her daughter. "The police will be looking for you everywhere! You can hide Raven, but not for long. You know how powerful we are! You’ll be found in no time."

"Okay." Raven said indifferently "Tell Mandy I said hi."

"What?" Lara’s voice echoed in surprise, her eyes flickering to Mandy, who stood trembling.

"Tell Abe Jenkins it’s been a pleasure doing business with him..." Raven taunted more, "I loved working as a maid. Oh and tell Felipe that I love him even though we can’t be together! Damn! He’s a pretty good lover!"

As Lara was trying to decipher the last statement, the line went dead.

Lara paused for a bit and slowly digested the information... then it hit her!

Raven was here?!!!!! Here?? At her home??

She snapped her head towards Mandy, "Go call the maids." She instructed.

With a slight nod, Mandy tremblingly walked away, leaving Lara preoccupied with her thoughts.

Almost immediately, the maids came rushing into the living room and stood in front of her, with their gaze on the floor.

Lara counted them. One, two, three, four, five ... where’s six? She counted again.

There were five of them! But she was damn sure they were six!

"Where’s one of you?" Lara demanded glaring at them.

"We don’t know ma’am." Fay was the one who answered. "She left in the afternoon and hasn’t come back yet; her clothes are still here."

"Go get them!" Lara instructed.

Fay rushed to the maid’s quarters and came back with Raven’s bag that was filled with the rag clothes she had come with.

Fay poured its content on the floor.

Lara instructed her to search the contents scattered on the floor But there was nothing of any importance there.

It now became crystal clear to Lara that Raven Moon was here in her household, and she had absolutely no idea, and it was all Abe Jenkins’ doing!

How dare he?

He had recruited her! He had sent her here!

Rage filled her, and she wanted nothing more than to strangle Abe or Raven. But none of them were here at the moment, so she struck one of the maids across the cheeks, her five fingers creating an imprint.

"Get the fuck out of my face!" She yelled at the maids, who scrambled away in fear.

As the rage and feeling of betrayal from Jenkins surged through her, she remembered another of Raven’s words.

... tell Felipe that I love him... he’s a pretty good lover!

Raven had been fucking Felipe?!

At that moment, Felipe walked in through the door... his face practically glowing.

He wasn’t aware of the situation at hand, rather, he was glad that the meeting with Hale Corps was successful, and he was extremely certain that this was a good sign.

Lily was in his life... and now this meeting.

Things were going to work out, and he was going to find a way to divorce Lara, even though his parents opposed it.

His moment of exhilaration was indefinitely cut short when Lara’s furious slap landed on his face.

He glared at her, putting his hand on his stricken face.

"What the hell?!!" He exploded, livid fury flickering in his eyes. "Have you finally gone crazy?!"

"No! You’re the one who’s crazy!" Lara retorted fiercely, "How dare you fuck a girl in my house!"

Felipe’s eyes bulged out in surprise.

He definitely didn’t expect the be caught already. But instead of feeling shame or being regretful, he went on the defensive.

"Because I’m in love with her!" Felipe snapped back, "You’ve always known that I don’t love you, even before our families introduced us, and yet you agreed to this marriage even when I begged you not to! What were you thinking? That I’ll gradually come to love you? No! You’re delusional! I don’t love you, Lara; I never have and never will! Lily is the one I love and she loves me back! When I’m with her, I have peace of mind; she gives me something that no one can ever give me, Lara, and I’m planning to marry her as soon as we divorce."

Lara couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh, "You’re the sick one who’s delusional Felipe. The girl you claim to share love with was just using you! You were just a pawn in her game and she’s abducted our daughter and is now threatening me!"

Felipe gaped at her, flabbergasted. "What?"
