Chapter 102: Men Only Think About THIS
"Dave, wait, stop!"
Sid wanted to stop him, wanted to talk to him, but Dave, furious, kept running away from him. Sid tugged on his sleeve unsuccessfully until he finally blocked his way and spread his arms. If Dave wanted to get past him, he had to use force. Dave stopped.
"Dave, let’s talk!" Sid pleaded. "You are acting so weird ... I don’t understand ..."
"What do you not understand? Paxton turned Martin gay and you don’t understand? "
"First, we don’t know if Paxton turned Martin gay," pointed out Sid. "You don’t know if Martin has been dating other guys before ..."
"Certainly not!"
"How do you know?"
"Do you remember that girl who came with a friend to pick up the car?"
"I remember," admitted the younger of the boys.
"It was Martin’s girlfriend!"
True, Sid had to admit. When questioned by colleagues, Martin confirmed that he was dating Ami not long ago, but that they are no longer seeing each other. Seeing him blush, they assumed Martin had a new girlfriend now, but it looked like it was a boyfriend.
"But before her ..." Sid tried to argue.
"Do you really believe that?"
No, Sid didn’t believe it. Sid thought, just like Dave, that it was Steve who made Martin go out with him.
"Do you really think liking a man and dating him is so bad?" Sid asked suddenly, turning red and shyly looking down. "Do you really think that if one man likes another, there’s something wrong with him? That he’s broken? "
"Yes," Dave said emphatically, but his voice was already calm. "That’s what I think."
"Then we can’t be friends anymore," Sid announced, slowly backing up two steps. The boy rubbed his lowered eyes with a quick gesture. "Because I ..." he tried to say something, but his voice was breaking. "Because I ..."
It was too difficult for him to say the words. Sid turned and ran away, and Dave had a feeling that Sid was wiping away tears.
Could it be that Sid...?
No, absolutely not! Sid is a healthy, normal boy who hasn’t met some lascivious old man who has a soft spot for boys. Maybe Sid’s life wasn’t beautiful, he might not have grown up being a happy child, but at least the adults in his world weren’t lousy degenerates.
"Steve, Martin, I am so sorry for Dave," Teddy said, blushing with embarrassment as a real father is ashamed of his child’s obnoxious behavior.
"You have nothing to apologize for," Paxton assured. "Not everyone accepts same-sex relationships."
"But everyone should behave in a civilized manner. The use of such vocabulary is unforgivable. "
"He was just a little too agitated. He probably hadn’t got used to the thought that I was seeing his friend and when he saw me he exploded. Though he shouldn’t be talking like that about Martin ... "
Martin became sad. He looked as if he was really touched by Dave’s words, which is why Teddy and Steve felt uneasy.
"Martin, what Dave said is not true," Teddy reassured him. Many boys have erotic fantasies about their friends and many even try, but whether they stay in a relationship with a man or return to women is a matter of individual preferences and the right partner, not whether someone is broken or not ... "
"I know," admitted the young mechanic. "I’m just worried why Dave said these words? He was so angry, as if the whole situation had affected him personally. "
"Maybe... he had a bad experience?" Paxton suggested. "Or is he unconsciously in love with you?"
"He definitely don’t love me," argued Martin. "But bad experiences ..." he shuddered. He hoped that was not the case with his friend.
Unfortunately, the world was full of bad people, so selfish that they treated others as things. Or those whose minds were so distorted that they saw evil as good, and with the purest of intentions, they performed abominable deeds. The world apparently did not tolerate them, but the courts did not punish them too severely. Despite social stigma, there were too many of them.
Martin hoped Dave had never met such an animal-man.
"Anyway," said Teddy, "I think he’ll get over it quickly. Dave is really not a bad boy. "
"I know," Paxton confirmed with a warm smile.
Martin, however, did not believe the smile. The boy got the impression that Steve was worried about him and his relationship with his colleagues at work. Was he worried that when Martin couldn’t communicate with Dave, one of them would have to quit his job?
Martin was ready to do it, quit his job. He expected to be rejected because of his orientation. He had a hard time thinking about that, of course, but he didn’t want to make unnecessary fuss. Dave had been here longer and really needed this job to help the family. Martin, with his knowledge and experience, will surely quickly find a place in another workshop. Though it’ll be hard for him to leave these people, especially Teddy. Sid was just starting to learn the ins and outs of mechanics. Martin was only three years his senior, but he felt responsible for him as an older brother, so he genuinely cared about Sid’s happiness. Luckily for Dave, too.
"Martin, do you have a lot left with this convertible?" Teddy asked.
"No, just a few little things I wanted to finish with the boys ..." the mechanic sighed unconsciously.
"When do you meet with the client?"
"I have to do it by Friday. The customer doesn’t need this car before the weekend. "
"Then leave it until tomorrow and go home. Spend some time with your boyfriend since you can’t go out on weekends. "
"It won’t be necessary ..." Martin tried to deflect, feeling his face turn red.
"We are both very grateful," Steve cut in and grabbed Martin’s hand. The boy wanted to object, but one glance in Paxton’s eyes was enough for his resistance to disappear completely.
Steve had a serious track accident two days ago. His body might be fine, but surely the moment of the accident terrified him, shook him whole. Martin was dying of fear at the mere sight of the car rolling on the pitch. What could Paxton be feeling in the middle of this event?
He was definitely scared. If not then, then soon after. He must have realized how dangerously close he was to the end. He tried to smile, to show that nothing happened, but who wouldn’t be shocked after such an event?
So if Steve had come to see Martin as soon as he left the airport, Martin couldn’t have said there was no time for him. He himself should have asked his boss for the afternoon off. If he didn’t, if the boss had to give it to him himself and he even wanted to oppose the offer and stay at work, could he still say that Steve is the most important to him?
Martin smiled broadly and sincerely.
"Thank you, Teddy! You are the best boss that can be! " he announced, and now it was he who pulled Steve by the hand. "Well, what are you waiting for? Let’s go! "
"Have fun!" Teddy called after them.
"We will!" Martin replied.
"Well, what do you want us to do now?" Martin asked as they were standing outside the workshop after taking Paxton’s luggage.
"Actually, only one thing in my head," Steve replied, giving Martin such a look that the boy blushed to the tips of his ears.
"We cannot do ONLY THIS," announced the young mechanic.
"Okay, since I have no idea, what do you want us to do?"
Martin blushed even more because he could think of ONLY THIS.
But if they really start to think about building a relationship, they need to find out about each other. They have to start getting to know each other. It will be weird if they just sit at a table and start asking themselves questions: "what do you like?", "What subjects were you good at at school?", "What is your favorite dish?" Martin wanted the answers to these questions to come naturally, completely naturally, and to come from the conversation and the course of the situation, not from playing Q&A.
"Maybe we’ll take your luggage to your place for a start?" suggested the mechanic, curious about Paxton’s apartment. He’s never been to him before. They had always made love either to Martin or to the stable or somewhere else, but never in a place that belonged to Steve.
"My apartment is ..." Steve looked disgusted. "Let’s say I moved there in a hurry and didn’t have time to look for something better or get comfortable."
"Is it that bad?" Martin was incredulous.
"Even worse," Paxton admitted, and the boy was surprised to realize that Steve was embarrassed! His curiosity grew even more, but Martin was not a cruel man.
"All right," he announced, "I’m not going into your apartment. We can walk around my neighborhood. Sounds better?"
"That sounds great!"
Paxton’s eyes flashed and Martin knew already that the driver hadn’t stopped thinking about "THIS" even for a moment.
