Chapter 59: Once a Traitor Is Always a Traitor

Third POV—

Suroralia stood up and dusted off the invisible dirt from her body. When she looked at the person who kicked her away, she wasn’t that surprised. It was not one person. They were two in number.

Kaerin held a murderous expression on her face and so did Maria.

The moment Kaerin saw Suroralia on top of Sharon, she immediately kicked her away. Her plan was to kill her right then and there with a single kick. But apparently, she easily survived.

Maria quietly moved towards Sharon’s side and checked for injuries. Finding none, she sighed in relief and covered her with the quilt, safely tucking her in the bed.

"She is unconscious," remarked Maria.

Kaerin pretended as if she didn’t hear Maria’s words and instead glared at Suroralia, who was smirking at both of them.

"What... were... you... doing?" Kaerin gritted out. Just by one look anyone could tell that she was controlling herself.

Suroralia moved her hand across her hair. She replied, "Me? I was just trying to make some love with her."

"LIES!!" yelled Kaerin.

Maria hissed, "You were on top of her, trying to force yourself on her. While it wasn’t enough, your killing intent was off the charts. What... the fuck... were you trying to do?"

Suroralia sneered, "Why do you even care? You never cared before... and so did you, Kaerin," she snapped her fingers twice in a dramatic way, "what changed? Why are the two of you like this?"

"Were you trying to hurt her?" asked Kaerin, ignoring Suroralia’s words. Her main focus was to eliminate her, should she attack Sharon.

Maria didn’t trust her. How could she trust someone who had taught ’him?’ Suroralia was the one who fuelled his evilness. She was hiding a dagger in her sleeves as if she was a cobra waiting for its prey. Her eyes were fixated completely on her actions.

Suroralia whistled and started clapping as if she was applauding them.

Maria hissed, "Cut it out." But the clapping and whistling even increased more. Then suddenly, she stopped. She stated, "You have your memories back, right?" She didn’t get any answer.

Maria and Kaerin were glaring at her. They acted as if they didn’t know what she was talking about.

Suroralia continued, "Oh my god! It’s true. Wait! Let me guess~ I believe you," she pointed at Kaerin, "got your memories much before than Maria. As for you," she looked at Maria, "have got your memories later. Like a series of dreams or to be better... nightmares. No, I am missing something here. What am I missing? You know, talking to oneself helps. But it’s not you who is putting me in the dilemma, Maria. It’s you, Kaerin. You haven’t experienced any nightmare. That means you have your memories right from the start. Honestly, I am not surprised. I mean the only one loony enough is you... and I guess, being fox-kin helps."

"We are not here for your useless chitchat. Tell me, why are you here?" asked Maria.

Suroralia licked her lips. She asked, "Your Majesty... Sharon never told you, did she? Judging by your faces, she never told you anything. See, Sharon promised me... to go on a date, that is! And I am excited!"

Kaerin asked, "When did she meet you? ANSWER ME!!"

"Oof! Why are you so serious? Can’t we have a civil conversation? We all were once fighting from a same team, right?" said Suroralia. It was clearly that she was trying provoke them.

Maria scoffed, "We are not going to have any conversation about it. Just answer the damn question."

Suroralia smirked in delight. She said, "Caught you. Didn’t you two were acting as if both of you knew nothing? Your ’Virgin Mary’ persona made you forgot one thing... we never knew each other in this life. So~ I am really excited what your excuse will be. Don’t say, ’we are seers.’ These words leave a bad taste in my mouth."

Kaerin took a deep breath. She said, "I guess, there is no need to act now. It’s better for you to leave."

"Again? With the same serious face? This time you two aren’t even acting. No excuse? Just like that? Finished? Hmmm... it’s no fun!"

"We are not here for fun," Maria gritted out. She couldn’t read Suroralia’s face at all. It was always the same. She could never read both the student and master faces.

Suddenly, Suroralia stopped smiling. Her face lost all of its emotion, revealing a cold and calculating face. She asked, "Did you two perhaps fall in love with Sharon?"

Immediately, Kaerin yelled, "DON’T TAKE HER NAME!!"

"THEN ARE YOU WORTHY TO TAKE HER NAME?" Suroralia yelled back. Her voice was so frosty as if her words were enveloped in ice itself. This was real Suroralia, a cold and calculating woman who could do anything for her own profit.

"There you are. For a moment, I believed you are not the real Suroralia," smirked Kaerin.

Suroralia said, "I don’t care what you think. But I am surprised to see the two of you placing ’house-house’ game with her. You two are epitome of shameless. After what you did to her, you think you could wash away all the sins that you committed against her."

"I like her and I will protect her from you and ’him.’ If the time comes, I will lay down my life for her," said Kaerin.

"Don’t take an oath here. Please, I beg you," Suroralia turned towards Maria, "maybe you are going to take an oath too. Oh! My bad, I am sorry. Look, you can take how many oaths as you want but I will say, ’once a traitor is always a traitor.’ You can’t change your breed, can you? Maybe traitorous traits are embedded in the very depths of your genetics. Your father was a traitor, your mother was one as well, and finally... you are the biggest among the three of you. It seems you completely absorbed their talents. Looking at you, I can confidently say that children are the amplified version of their parents."
