Chapter 98: Entering The Ancient Ruin...

After infusing his elemental essence into whatever was draining him for a while, Kranos soon noticed a spatial gap begin to form. Although he couldn’t clearly see what was behind the gap, he could tell that this was the place that Kathryn spoke of.

Without wasting time, he immediately informed her—he had no intention of risking his life even slightly. Kathryn turned abruptly. Upon noticing the space gap, she quickly shouted to Kranos and Kevin while dragging the young man who had lured the Monarch realm demon toward them.

"Quick, enter the portal!"

Without hesitation, her figure vanished into the spatial gap.

Seeing this, Kranos no longer delayed. Eternal Hunger materialized in his hand as he dove into the tear in space. Kevin followed closely behind. However, the Monarch realm demon was too slow. By the time he arrived, the gap had sealed shut.

"A spatial teleportation formation?" the demon muttered, stunned. But as he recalled the unique method, the teleportation formation appeared, he couldn’t help but feel that there was more to the teleportation. "This isn’t just a simple formation... I’d better inform the Withered God," the demon decided. With that, he turned and sped off toward the demon encampment.

...

Meanwhile, as soon as Kranos stepped into the spatial portal, he felt a wave of spatial fluctuation. It felt similar to the previous times when he used spatial portals, however, this time he felt that something was slightly different!

His consciousness wavered for a moment. He quickly recovered, then scanned his surroundings. Immediately, he noticed that they had arrived in what looked like an ancient land.

Where Kranos and the others had appeared at was filled with Massive stone pavilions floated above a cracked, overgrown ground covered in tangled vines and scattered remnants of broken and destroyed statues.

Most striking of all were the eight floating pavilions, each made of weathered jade-green stone, their pillars carved with arcane runes and had slight battle scars. They hovered in the sky in a specific arrangement, forming the shape of an eight-pointed star.

At the centre of this celestial star-like pattern was an elevated stone platform, larger than any of the pavilions. Unlike the others, it shimmered faintly under a dome of transparent blue light. From afar, one could barely glimpse the ancient altar.

A few meters away, they could also faintly see a quiet reflecting pool far off in the distance. Everyone’s expression was solemn, even the young man who had just joined them stared at everything in silence.

The silence lasted for a few minutes before Kathryn broke the silence.

"What is your name? And why was that demon chasing you?" Ignoring the scary environment, Kathryn turned to the young man and asked.

The young man blinked, slightly surprised, then scratched the back of his head. "Hah... about that? That demon was just pissed I stole this Heart-Cleansing Fruit he’d been nurturing for years."

He pulled out a peculiar purple fruit and grinned. "As for my name? I’m Luka."

The group stared at the fruit, their eyes filled with surprise. At a glance, Kranos could tell that the fruit definitely had some unique effects. However, no one noticed that Kathryn’s eyes flashed with a peculiar light of understanding for a moment as though she had understood something.

With a calm smile, she casually said. "It’s good to have one more person with us in this perilous place. Where do you want to head first?"

Kranos blinked in surprise. Kevin looked at his sister as though she were a stranger. This wasn’t like her at all—inviting a stranger along into a ruin? Letting him take the lead?

Kranos’s thoughts, however, were different. As someone who liked to think deeply and consider every angle, his mind immediately went to the moment when Luka arrived at the location of the ancient ruin. Back then, Kathryn had said that they were waiting for someone.

Glancing at the young man, Kranos realized that he was most likely the person that Kathryn was waiting for, but... how did she know he was going to arrive there soon? Besides, how does she even know that a ruin hidden so deeply exists and the mechanics of how to access the ruin?

At first, he felt that Kathryn was strange; she had appeared to save him too abruptly. Next was when Desmond called her an anomaly. Back then, although he was shocked by the word, he didn’t think too much about it, but now, he realized that there were definitely some secrets that she was hiding. At this, Kranos’s cautious nature was immediately awakened. it seems this ancient ruin will not be as easy as I expected it to be.

"I don’t know," Luka said with a shrug. "How about we check out the floating pavilions first?" Seeing that Kathryn had asked him, Luka immediately suggested.

Kathryn seemed to ponder for a moment, then turned to the others. "What do you think?"

Kevin immediately agreed since his sister had agreed with Luka. Kranos thought for a moment before agreeing as well. Soon, the four of them made their way toward the nearest floating pavilion. Although the pavilion was hovering midair, it wasn’t too far for Kranos and the others to reach.

Using his spatial flash, Kranos rapidly teleported a few consecutive times to reach the building. However, upon reaching, he froze, he noticed Luka was already there. Kranos’s eyes narrowed. That movement... was it a higher-level space technique?

He immediately started thinking of ways he could use to get the technique from him, after all, back then at the academy, this was the exact technique that Kranos was in need of.

Moments later, Kathryn and Kevin floated over effortlessly. Thanks to her Dao Palace cultivation, Kathryn simply carried her brother with ease.

Glancing at the door to the pavilion, which looked ancient and had scars of time leaving its traces, Kranos and the others were slightly hesitant. However, Luka didn’t seem to be worried. With a stretch of his hand, he immediately pushed the door slightly to open it before Kranos and others could react.
