Chapter 89: Crisis... Despair? Kathryn!!!
Kranos was shocked to realize that the man was a Dao Palace realm expert! His expression turned solemn as he looked at him. The man, meanwhile, didn’t seem to consider Kranos a threat, after all very few cultivators could defend against his abilities.
Kranos’s thoughts moved rapidly. Since the man was in the Dao Palace realm and likely Rose’s senior, it would be extremely disadvantageous if they joined hands. He couldn’t let that happen.
With those thoughts, his blade moved swiftly, stabbing towards the lady, aiming to cut off her head and kill her in one swift motion.
However, just as he made that move, he felt an unprecedented sense of crisis. He was immediately horrified! Without any hesitation, he forcefully paused time and, with the greatest speed he could muster, rushed out of there.
After reaching a safe distance, he turned to look in the direction of Rose and Desmond, but he was immediately stunned. There was no sign of an attack there.
For a moment, he thought he had sensed wrong, but seeing the playful smile on Desmond’s lips, he immediately understood that he had truly been attacked.
But how? What sort of attack is that? Kranos was terrified. Though he knew it was an attack, he couldn’t do anything about it since he didn’t know what kind it was. He couldn’t even see it.
Another unique ability? This time, even more unique than the others? Kranos had a faint guess. Just as his thoughts were about to continue, Desmond’s voice interrupted him.
"You do have some ability, to be able to dodge my attack, I wonder? How did you do that?" Desmond was slightly surprised.
He knew the speed of his attack. He was sure it wasn’t something a Golden Core realm practitioner could dodge. Even those in the initial stages of the Dao Palace realm would ultimately die under his attack, yet a Golden Core realm practitioner could dodge it?
"Tell me what kind of attack that was and I’d answer your question," Kranos asked in return.
At this, Desmond smiled faintly and didn’t answer. Kranos got his answer. It seemed he was unwilling to reveal his ability. I can only use that...
He sighed. He didn’t know if it would work, but he decided to give it a try anyway. His expression turned cold as he struck his right arm, precisely where the plant was.
Immediately, he reached into his meridians and veins with his mana. Forcefully, using all his strength, he pulled it out.
With a tug, the plant was forcefully pulled out of his body. However, Kranos was badly injured after the process. A large chunk of flesh from his right arm was torn, and one could faintly see his visible bones underneath his skin.
However, Kranos’s expression was eerily calm. He smiled at Desmond and Rose, who had shocked expressions, and his figure immediately faded from their view...
"Think you can escape from me that easily?" Desmond sneered, and immediately his figure blurred and became shadowy.
Just as Kranos appeared a few meters away, his shadow crept up and struck at him. He felt a chill the moment the attack headed his way, so without hesitation, he dodged while forcefully pausing time.
Stabling himself, he looked at the shadow that had appeared. It was Desmond! An ability to use shadows as a means of movement? Kranos was slightly fearful. If he hadn’t sensed the attack in time, he wouldn’t have known how he died.
His cautiousness towards the organization also deepened. With all their mysterious abilities, he would definitely be killed if he wasn’t careful.
Kranos’s thoughts moved. He measured his chances in battle with Desmond and realized that he didn’t even have a 20 percent chance of winning.
His expression turned unsightly. He knew it was only a matter of time until he died. He still felt weakened inside, so he guessed that rebirth would most likely not be possible.
Just as Kranos was in despair, a feminine voice resounded from behind him...
"Bullying others with cultivation isn’t fair. Why don’t I lend a hand?"
Kranos and Desmond quickly turned in the direction of the voice. The next moment, he was stunned. The lady who had appeared to help him was an... Elf?
And beside her, he could also see another elf... Kranos was stunned. He quickly sensed their cultivation levels. The lady had a similar aura to Desmond, and it was even stronger!
However, the young man seemed to be in the Golden Core realm, just like Kranos. Seeing them, Kranos’s guard was up. After all, he knew that one wouldn’t do something like helping a stranger without wanting anything in return... There was no free gift in cultivation.
Everything came at a price.
"Who are you?" Desmond asked solemnly, sensing the other party’s aura.
"I’m Kathryn... Princess of the Elven Kingdom," Kathryn responded calmly.
At her words, Desmond was stunned and his expression changed drastically! It was only now he noticed her golden eyes.
Normal elves had silver eyes, but when one had royal blood flowing through their veins, their eyes became golden.
"You’re royalty?" Desmond looked at her, this time he no longer had the arrogance from before. With her royal elven bloodline, it would be very difficult for him to defeat her, even with his two unique elements!
Kranos was also stunned. He didn’t expect to be so lucky and encounter the princess of the elven clan!
What Kranos didn’t know was that the elven princess had been spying on him for the past two days since she sensed his unique aura that interested her.
Because she had a profound concealment technique, Kranos wasn’t able to sense her. She had watched his battle with Demule and even watched his battle against Rose. However, she didn’t interfere, because she knew Kranos deeply, even more than Kranos knew himself!
When she saw he finally couldn’t hold on, she decided to interfere. Aside from seeing the extent of his strength, she wanted him to be extremely grateful to her for saving him at his moment of despair.
She wanted Kranos to owe her a favor. With all these subtle gestures, she could slowly turn him into her chess piece!
With that, she interfered at the last moment. Glancing at Desmond, images resurfaced in her mind. She also knew of this man, much more than he could ever imagine...
Her mind flickered with thoughts as she came up with unique ways to make the situation and everything favorable for her!
