Chapter 79: Chapter 79: He didn’t lie

By the time Kylian realized his dreadful mistake, his terrified tearful gaze could only see the tip of the bell tower building growing farther from him in the distance as he was falling on his head upside down.

Even in that speedy pace, he understood he might immediately crack his skull open the second he hit the ground. But there was no point in turning back anymore.

Holding his deliberate horrified expression, Kylian clenched his jaw while growling at his wolf as the last resort, "THEN DO SOMETHING, MORPHEUS! I AM GONNA DIE AT THIS RATE...AT LEAST INITIATE A SHIFT–"

~ "You should’ve thought about it before jumping off the building, you idiot!" But Morpheus grumbled back, sounding very anxious from his tone. "There’s no time in shift anymore...we are going to hit the ground in a few seconds... Thanks to your idiocy, both of us are going to have such a pointless death!"

"NO! THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING..." Kylian cried, squeezing his words out of his throat which had completely choked from fear.

In those last horrifying seconds, he could sense a terrible heartache stirred inside his chest when Marita’s smiling face flashed before his vision, making him writhe in guilt and despair.

Deep inside his mind, he shrieked, ’Am I really going to have such a futile death? What about Mom...How she will live all alone? I wanted to give her a happy life...It was my dream and now I am dying?’

> "I will protect you with my life."

But at that moment, like a last glimmer of hope, Zenith’s promise to him while they were forming the divine pact echoed in his head, making Kylian reminisce the words he told Zenith before jumping off the building.

Thus, clenching onto that last hope of survival, almost reaching close to the ground, before the deadly crash, Kylian shut his tearful eyes and mustered all of his strength to scream at the top of his lungs, "ZENITH!!!"

In the flash of a second, a strong arm embraced Kylian tight, making him open his eyes with a fearful jolt. But the first sight that winced Kylian and left him speechless was Zenith’s beautiful big red glowing eyes. His pupils had shrunk, making his eyes resemble the orbs of a dominant Alpha wolf, as Zenith was gazing into him ardently.

Zenith also fell upside down along with him, as if he had plunged down the building as well for Kylian’s sake, however, without showing any trace of panic on his radiant face.

Just within the next following seconds, Zenith flipped Kylian while holding him in his arms, narrowingly escaping the deadly fall.

As he started to fly high above from the ground, gazing at him in disbelief, Kylian couldn’t utter a word apart from breathing too fast. His entire body was shaking from fear and lowering his frightful eyes down at the height, he had the grave realization of what a close call to death it was!

But the next moment Kylian landed his gaze back on Zenith again, they were floating in the air having the beautiful shimmering crescent moon in the background, along with the star-filled dark sky surrounding them that turned the scenario into a picture-perfect moment.

While flying high in the sky being held by Zenith in his arms who had saved his life once again, Kylian was too shocked to speak for a moment. But he couldn’t stop himself from being mesmerized by how beautiful his red glowing iris looked on that ethereally beautiful face under the glistening moonlit.

Kylian was already aware of Zenith’s alluring beauty that had left him awestruck from the first time he saw him after entering the Academy, but now...his heart was pounding restlessly along with a deep reassurance building inside him.

Not his wolf, but a part of his heart was trying to engrave these words in his mind...that he will be safe no matter what happens as long as he stays by this Alpha’s side... Zenith didn’t lie when he swore to protect him!

Even though Kylian couldn’t stop gawking at him, Zenith’s expression gradually turned a bit surly. Soon, Zenith landed on the terrace of another building close to the tallest one and the second he released Kylian from his hold, his red glowering eyes looked angry when he scowled at him.

"Do you find it amusing to toy around with your life like this? Is this fuckin’ fun to you to drive everyone insane?? It was me who was born with this gifted ability...so why the fuck did you jump off the building? Did you think you would magically inherit this power if you endanger your life, you darn fool!?"

Zenith sounded very irked from his grumble, but Kylian didn’t say a word in opposing him. He tilted his head down, bearing a guilt-stricken look in his distressed ocean eyes while trying to calm down his shivering legs which were making it difficult for Kylian to keep standing still.

But shuffling his silver hair bangs above his forehead, the earring on Zenith’s left ear sparkled under the moonlit when he agitatedly kept scolding him, narrowing his glowing red orbs at him, "Do you realize what I felt when I saw you jump? Fuck...I felt as if my heart was about to stop...I am just so fuckin’ flabbergasted by your stupid actions! How does it make sense that everything you keep doing drives me insane like this!?

"First I assumed you were about to drown yourself in the sea and now...I saw you just fuckin’ jumped from that massive building! I can’t believe it...how could someone be such a fool to assume you could also magically awaken such a gifted power just because I had awakened it? Don’t tell me do you still have that hope alive inside you that one day you will transition into an Alpha by miracle!?"

~ "He’s right to scold you...You deserve it Kylian. We could’ve really died if he hadn’t saved your life again, so shouldn’t you bow your head before Zenith and sincerely thank him this time?" Morpheus also scorned Kylian, as he realized he had indeed made both of them agitated by his dangerous stunt.
