Chapter 241: Chapter 221: Captain America

"There’s something you haven’t been honest with us about."

Aboard the sturdy AT-802 agricultural aircraft, Li Cheng casually said to Caroline in the back seat: "Why did the Vanguard Company issue a bounty? From the standpoint of keeping information under wraps, there’s no need to involve civilian Superpower Users.

Unless, they’re really desperate."

"..."

After a moment of silence, Caroline looked at Angelica in her arms and said helplessly, "The name Angelica is the one I gave her. At the company, she was only known as experimental subject number 7094.

After witnessing the evil deeds of the Vanguard Company, I secretly conducted a genetic test on the child. She has the potential to become a Level 5 Superpower User.

Level 3 superpower users with Body Enhancement can ignore small caliber bullets, Level 4 superpower users can soar to the skies and burrow into the earth like superheroes in comics, as for Level 5...

In most predictions, Level 5 Superpower Users are equivalent to human-shaped nuclear bombs."

Caroline lifted her head, speaking bitterly: "Under no circumstances can the company be allowed to control this power. They will brainwash and control Angelica, making her a hand for slaughter and even a breeding tool, regularly providing eggs to cultivate more Level 5 Superpower Users.

Sorry, I didn’t tell you all these details."

"Sounds pretty miserable."

Gray Rain sighed upon hearing this, "The little Li from downstairs in our building, she told me, her parents forced her to go on arranged dates with someone she didn’t like at all, called Dahuang. Of the two children she gave birth to, one died early, and the other is sickly. It seems she has to go on more arranged dates next year."

"Is there such a thing?" Caroline was stunned for a moment, "Don’t her parents consider little Li a person?!"

"Who told you little Li is a person."

Gray Rain said mysteriously, "She’s a purebred cat."

"? ?"

Caroline looked confused, unsure whether to be amazed by Gray Rain’s peculiar way of storytelling or how she understood the words of a cat.

Li Cheng, sitting in the front seat, glanced at his cellphone. The Ella Gang was truly scared by Li Cheng’s skinning threat just before he left; they’d been sending a barrage of comments on the dark web for superpower users, not caring about the moderators, posting and deleting over and over again.

This should deter some of the middle and lower Level superpower users.

As for the Vanguard Company’s bounty, it was also being updated in real-time, pinpointing Li Cheng and his group near Denver in Colorado.

Such precise tracking cannot be explained by any Sniffer.

Li Cheng had been controlling the aircraft’s altitude to evade radar detection and often flying below the clouds to avoid being photographed by near-Earth orbit spy satellites.

There was only one explanation, Cervantes had invoked some kind of telepathic remote sensing technique to trace Angelica from far away.

"You were a former researcher at Vanguard Company, do you know of any way to completely block telepathy and remote telepathy?"

Li Cheng asked, turning his head. Angelica was the mission’s target and could not be stored in a three-dimensional warehouse.

"Blocking telepathy..."

Caroline was stunned for a moment, then realized, "Yes! In the sequence of superpower users, there are indeed those with Spiritual abilities. In order to control them, the company made a batch of helmets out of special metal, issued to company executives, and Prison Guards of the facilities."

Caroline leaned forward, pointing to the map spread out on Li Cheng’s knees, "There’s a Superpower Users’ prison in Colorado, I’ve been there before, right... here."

What a coincidence.

Li Cheng immediately changed direction and headed for the prison a few dozen kilometers away.

————

Tap, tap, tap.

A corpulent prison guard with a baton in hand was humming a tune as he walked along the narrow corridors of the prison.

On the surface, this prison was a mental institution, holding nearly a hundred superpower users of varying levels.

When the hefty prison guard applied for the job, he stated he was bullied by mutants as a child, but only he knew the real reason he wanted the job—

To freely beat those who are far more powerful than him.

Thud!

The guard raised his baton and struck it heavily against the thick steel blast doors of a solitary cell,

The loud noise frightened the emacitated prisoner inside, who wore a superpower inhibiting collar, making him retreat to the corner of his cell, curling his body and shivering uncontrollably.

"Ha ha ha."

The guard grinned broadly, laughing. This prisoner had previously killed more than a dozen people as a Level 3 Superpower User, but what of it? Isn’t he now like a mere quail?

"Stay still, all of you freaks and mutants."

As the prison guard was about to retract his baton, a shrill and piercing whoosh was heard from above the prison.

Whoosh—Boom!

The reinforced concrete rooftop, capable of withstanding missile bombardment, was violently smashed through.

Debris scattered, dust filled the air, and the person who descended from the sky was none other than Gray Rain, who had jumped straight from the plane.

She knelt on one knee, fist to the ground, head slightly bowed, striking the classic hero’s entrance pose.

"Avalon! People from the Avalon Organization are here to save us!"

Inmates on both sides of the corridor cried tears of joy, banging on their cell doors, creating a raucous noise.

"What the hell is this..."

The prison guard stepped back in fear. The alarm bells rang through the entire prison, and other prison guards, drawn by the sound, also saw Gray Rain amidst the cloud of dust.

"Alert! Level 1 Superpower User escape incident!"

One of the guards shouted into his walkie-talkie, calling for backup, while others brought in a large sound system-shaped device and pounded the button with their fists.

Zzztt—

The sound system emitted ultrasonic waves, causing all the Superpower Users in the cells along the corridor to moan in pain.

Gray Rain clutched her head, crying out, "Ugh! Ah! I’m dying! Just kidding."

The next second, Gray Rain dusted herself off and stood up. Looking at those utterly shocked prison guards, she smiled slightly. Her arms transformed into sharp spears, piercing the hearts of two men and then suddenly sprouting multiple spikes, impaling them from the inside out.

"Open fire!"

Without hesitation, the prison guards drew their guns and shot at her— everything from pistols, rifles, Electric Shock Guns, tranquilizer darts, to Smoke Bombs was thrown towards the end of the corridor.

"Is that all?"

Gray Rain, with a dozen tranquilizer darts stuck in her body, casually pulled out the syringes and took a deep breath from a picked up Smoke Bomb, "Doesn’t feel as sharp as the Ruike fifth generation."

The Prison Guards had never seen such a spectacle and stood there stunned, but Gray Rain didn’t care. She dashed into the crowd, killing every target she saw.

When there were no more living people on the scene, Gray Rain took out a walkie-talkie and chirped, "All handled."

"Good."

Li Cheng had landed the plane in a dried-up riverbed. He first released a paper crane to stay at the pilot’s seat, then activated the Demon Exchange Skill to switch places with Gray Rain.

Uh...

He looked around at the scattered limbs and blood-soaked walls, as well as the variety of innards hanging from the ceiling fan, his expression somewhat complex.

Although Li Cheng himself wasn’t exactly a saint who never killed, was Gray Rain’s violent tendency a bit too extreme? It was like some sort of Nordic-themed decorative art.

Maybe... give the kid less homework?

Li Cheng murmured softly, fetching the keys from a security guard’s corpse to unlock the cell doors, freeing the Superpower Users, and casually shattering the power-dampening collars around their necks with a rusty machete.

"Don’t thank me yet, does anyone know where the guards keep the helmets to guard against Spiritual Control?"

"In the Equipment Room! It’s at the northeast corner of the prison."

One of the excited Superpower Users said. The group of inmates either spewed acid to corrode cell doors, violently dismantled walls, or froze the locks to destroy them, helping one another until they managed to free all their comrades.

"I’m not from the Avalon Organization. Whether you want to escape or take revenge on Vanguard Company, do as you please."

Li Cheng wasn’t concerned about the fate of these Superpower Users. After searching the Equipment Room and finding helmets and a superpower-dampening sound system, he was ready to use the Demon Exchange again.

Vvvrrr—

The sound of helicopter rotors, following the gaping hole Gray Rain had smashed, drifted down the hallway.

Three figures were seen jumping down from the helicopter, passing through the ceiling hole, and landing in the corridor.

All three were dressed in bizarre outfits, adorned with the Vanguard Company logo on their chests.

One figure enveloped in a white leopard-patterned bodysuit spoke first, his voice deep, "Wakanda forever! I am White Leopard."

A middle-aged man with sunglasses, a Compound Longbow slung across his back, and a quiver at his waist said sternly, "I am Corns."

In Li Cheng’s stunned gaze,

The last one, adorned with an Indian feather headdress, holding a circular red, white, and blue shield, said solemnly, "I am Indian Captain! Avengers, assemble!"
