Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead
Chapter 879 - 879: Denied

The priestess and cyclops meeting was felt throughout the whole battlefield, and that was only then that Milo even realised that a dignified priestess had joined in, as he pulled off yet another one of those small ghouls off his face, throwing it to the ground and stomping the abhorrent thing down into a puddle, this was the sixth time he had done this as the damned little undeads had decided to harass him extra hard.

Initially, he had just emitted a pulse of gold to get rid of them, but they just kept coming, and guessing that their numbers were probably so numerous that they might as well be unlimited, he decided to not use the pulse again so as to not deplete his mana just to deal with these pests.

He could allow himself to not even use much mana reinforcement to defend against them too as his body was too tough for them to easily cut into, with just a little bit of reinforcement, they could do practically nothing, he still had to maintain a good level of augmentation however, as they was not telling if another undead would not sneak up and use far more force to hit him though, but since only the little ghouls had been attacking, he had consumed next to no energy.

'Gods, I hate these things!' but they still somehow managed to be a severe annoyance, as they attempted to lead him away by pulling on his hair and beard, like he was a horse and they were jockeys, somehow, he had ended up going backward several steps, which was a good thing as the ghouls were not venturing very far, so none were free to pounce on him again.

So Milo took the time, move forward whilst helping others get rid of their own ghouls, he needed a bit of time to recuperate anyways, as the ones who had latched onto him had managed to get some of their venom into his eyes, which was far from pleasant.

Compared to others, he had it easy however, as most of the effects of the vile substances were nullified by his golden mana, many others had to endure to the full brunt of it alongside many cuts to their faces, Milo ran into many how had gotten an eye or two gouged out too.

"Everyone! Priestess Artazun created a weak point in the center!" Antieeld's voice carried throughout the chaos of the battlefield like there was total silence, another perk of her talent, Milo assumed, but the commandant was correct.

The undeads, to not get in the way, and not lose troops to collateral damage, had moved away from the center of their formations, leaving a much thinner line of undeads there than elsewhere, the confrontation between Artazun and the old stone knight were to be thanked for this.

Those two could be seen from far away as they were basically giants compared to the most average sized troops that surrounded them.

The cyclops was trying to force the priestess away from here, to take the fight elsewhere and allow the undeads to resume their previous formation like normal, but although going away from here would allow Artazun to exert more of her strength without having to worry about reducing allies into mush, she did not allow for it, having already realised that this was very advantageous, if they could punch a hole through the undead formation, they could gain the upperhand overall, and push them away.

This would not end the war at all, but it would certainly prevent the fighting from going on for too long, as the moment exhaustion crept up, the undeads would just walk all over them without problem.

"Say one-eye, I am sure your boss has better ways of doing this, so what's up?" as Artazun and Garkap had both of their hands interlocked against that of their opponent, pushing against one another, the priestess decided to ask a question.

The lieutenant scoffed, forming a most bizarre facial expression, which was probably due to having only one third of his face that could actually express anything.

"Training the troops" he casually responded.

"Like hell that's the reason!" twisting around, Artazun flipped the corpse up into the air and threw him into the ground before pushing down at his head, the undead evading right before impact, rolling and getting back to his feet in just a short moment.

"It is not a lie, but I suppose that there are many different reasons… Who knows, maybe General Loimos is negotiating with the will of this realm? Or maybe we are just sooo limited by the realm that we can only manage this? Oww… I am afraid that I am too stupid to remember the reasons!" he tapped his temples lightly in a cutesy manner, which was dangerously infuriating to look at.

The lieutenant and priestess clashed again, right as Milo rejoined the frontline after helping everyone he could get rid of the ghouls hitching a ride on their head, immediately kicking a fire knight back before it could unleash a slash of Loismosfire.

Just as he did, however, the air cracked right before his eyes, and an armored hand reached out, grabbing him by the throat, Milo swiftly raised both fists, and slammed down on the arm grasping him before backing off.

"I see that you are all healed up, that's good! Time for the revenge match!" stepping out was Frenand, who performed a show entrance, flexing his arms, which amounted to nothing, Milo knew that he was only bones, there was literally nothing to flex.

"What? Are you not going to say hello? I thought we had something going on together, you know? I try to beat you to death, you try to beat me into no longer existing… That's a strong bond linking the two of us! No? Not going to have a good laugh with me? Fine then, let's just get to murdering then…" the lieutenant did not beat around the bush, instantly channelling mana throughout his body, activating vertex and then focusing it into his legs, surging forward like a cannonball.

Milo poised himself for the fight, but before Frenand could reach him, despite his extreme speed, he was shot mid-air by a blast of emerald light.

"Leave the young man alone, he is already married with children, he can't reciprocate your feelings" floating down with a grin and chuckling at her joke already, Ioleznta softly landed upon the ground with both hands behind her back.

She turned to Milo.

"Go back to the frontline, I'll be taking care of this guy"

Milo glanced at Frenand for a moment, and then nodded.

"That was rude… Ioleznta, is that right? An Emerald Herald… Can you not switch places with the pretty boy one? I prefer not to turn women into red paste if possible"

"Aww… Did mommy tell you not to hit girls?"

Frenand tilted his hand and then shrugged, throwing his cape aside.

"Alright then, if you insist" the undead kicked off the ground faster than before, right at the herald.
