Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead -
Chapter 809 - 809: The Bite
"What did you just say? Child soldier? Where? Are you referring to me, you sad little dipshit?" for some reason, despite acting like she was mad, the small girl did not stop smiling, her sharp and pointy teeth fully visible the entire time as she stepped forward, and everyone else seemed to stop moving… No, in fact, they were slowly backing off.
Ilmael could feel that they weren't doing that to give her space, but rather because they did not want to be anywhere near her, and they subtly accelerated their movements when she started to act offended.
Information about the girl flowed into Ilmael's mind from Antieeld, the commandant might believe the mission a big flop, but that did not mean that she was going to allow a spirit she had summoned to be torn apart, she would have already called him back if his wish was not to stay and fight, not that it mattered, fighting spirits summoned by Antieeld might be destroyed, but they could always be called back.
The one before him was called Alila, a cute name that was fitting for her, even if the predatory and abnormal teeth could put some off, others might say that it added to the cuteness, but truly, calling someone who took pride in calling herself a daughter of the Life Scourge 'cute' sounded awfully wrong, in fact, a living calling herself daughter to that thing was wholly abnormal to begin with.
Ilmael had been made aware of what the undead champion had become since their first and last encounter in the chrome dungeon, his mere presence could probably cause the living to wither and die, so for him to have seemingly, personally nurtured livings and taken a parental role to them, it truly spoke to the sort of evil the pure undead truly was, a calamity- A storm or volcanic eruption to could stop in its track and wonder about the most optimal path to cause maximum destruction.
A disaster that could lure future victims into worshipping and serving him, that knew no limits to what he was capable of doing to satisfy his goals, indeed, few undeads would have actually considered making use of livings as soldiers, and many would have even been against it, but the rotten skeleton's status as the empire's champion had made that idea commonplace and accepted overnight.
Ilmael could not hope to ever cross blades with the corpse in person ever again, the strength disparity had simply grown far too much, he was just an ant now, but the enemy could be fought indirectly, and right there, before him, was a symbol of the cadaver's influence, a young girl with blonde hair and little pigtails, somehow, she was the closest thing to Loimos the people of this realm could actually lay their eyes upon.
Dressed in a white uniform with a big cape that wrapped around her body, hiding her arms, her smile seemed more and more disturbing the longer one stared at it.
"Well? Are you not going to respond? I recognise your kind, you must be a death hunter, are you not? A sorry little organisation that failed miserably the moment the dead actually fought back, huh? Well, it's only natural, you guys were only riding on the coattails of The First Death Hunter Thana-Something-Gos or whatever… And you are see-through as well… Is that the work of that red-haired girl? I approve of her wardrobe, but summoning something that can actually bypass our security? That's a big no-no…"
"...Though, that ability is quite something, huh? Can you imagine it enhanced by undeath? Summoning the phantoms of much greater beings than this? Can she hear me through you? If so, she should come over and join us right now, I am sure Bellah won't mind making room for another sister in our little group- And I am certain Father won't mind extending his unending compassion to an old enemy…" she giggled like a haunted doll.
"Are you done speaking, little one?"
"You-! You are trying to provoke me, well, you might successfully irritate me, but that will get you nowhere, I may be little in size- The smallest of the Soror, but I am the second oldest after Bellah, I am much too mature of mind to lose my composure at such childish jabs!" she lifted her chin, her eyes glowing with a shade that looked exactly like the colour of her skin.
By now, the surrounding soldiers had made quite a distance from them, or rather, from her- Only Irtop was still somewhat close-by.
"Second oldest, huh? I wouldn't have guessed, but what does that mean anyways? How old are you?"
"I am twenty-one"
"I refuse to believe that"
"Well, fuck you"
"What a vulgar language, didn't your father teach you that children should be polite?"
"You are insufferable, but I am quite curious what you would taste like…" flinging her arms to the side, the cloak burst open as Alila rushed forward, with her small size, it felt like a honey badger was running at Ilmael.
The right hand and arm shifted, the clothing covering them turning into skin before expanding and tearing itself open, dozens of tongues barbed with hook-like teeth flew right at the death hunter, how wisely chose to evade them and not attempt to deflect, seeing how she could manipulate her body, it seemed likely that the tongues themselves could probably further transform.
He moved to the side, and imbued his blade.
"Life, grant me strength" activated the life art, he swung and was surprised at how easily he carved through the warped limb.
'No bones?'
The girl stepped back without even a single hint of pain on her face, the severed body part regrowing to normal alongside the uniform, whilst the flesh separated from her stirred, changing its shape into a creature that had the legs of a human, but upon them sat a mess of tentacle-like tongues.
'Of course she can do that…' keeping an eye on her, he moved to try and dispose of the creature first, manoeuvring through whip attacks and cutting the whole thing in half, and the flesh melted away.
"Heheheh, I hope you aren't proud of what you just did" she laughed at him, but the death hunter ignored the snickering and stepped forward, pressing against something he could not see.
Ilmael fell forward, not understanding what had happened until he looked back.
He had walked right onto a bear trap, an invisible one at that, and it had become visible after biting clean through his ankle.
"Can you see this, Miss Little Commandant? Who knows where to put some of these… Ah, I am such an airhead, I forgot where I dropped my little bear traps, hey, if you find any, make sure to give them back, alright?" she stepped closer to the wounded spirit.
"Cocky little-" he pushed off the ground and attempted to slash at her, only to witness her entire body transforming into an abominable maw, which closed in on him, biting right through his spiritual body and sword.
Antieeld sighed heavily.
