Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead
Chapter 803 - 803: Resilient Alloy

"I wish I could use a zone too"

"So do I, but we should probably go through learning how to cast, vertex, apex and transcend first, I can manage a vertex myself, how about you?"

Ilona scratched the back of her ear.

"I can manage vertex as well, but it's a bit unreliable to be honest, I am a better at swinging my halberd than at slinging spells, I fear"

"Well, we all have different areas we are better in, the elemental champions can all do vertex without much problem, but they have been training for nearly their whole lives, so to them it isn't much of an achievement… I think some of them can also do apex as well, they have been training very hard since coming to the Emerald Realm, and I don't often get the occasion to speak with them, even now, they stay amongst themselves" Antieeld spoke whilst attentively looking at Helena, the powerful winds that made up her zone were clearly visible even without trying to see the mana, that was just how thick with the energy it was, but the tall woman remained visible whilst simply standing in place.

She was trying multiple spells, now capable of switching the spell imbued into the zone whilst it remained active, first she went with the most basic spell, the same she had decided to use against Loimos, which was the wind slash spell, amongst this element, there was hardly anything more simple than this.

But simplicity was often the more reliable, so it was always her first choice of spell to use, this time however, it was of no effect whatsoever, the steel slab was thoroughly unaffected, so Helena compressed the zone to a smaller and smaller area, thus increasing the power output, but still, without success, so she switched the next best spell she could think of, which was one that simulated intense and accelerated wind erosion.

A spell that should be particularly effective against steel, it seemed to have an effect, but to the surprise of no one, the slab was able to mend itself, and it did so quickly enough to prevent Helena from bearing a hole through its surface, which was naturally rather thick anyways, probably possessing several meters of thickness.

Even when condensed to the utter limit and with Helena putting her all into the spell, the results weren't sufficient still, so after thirty minutes of trying, the zone was dispelled.

"No can do, I don't know how they made that thing exactly, but the sort of firepower needed to punch a hole through this thing is insane, not only is it highly resistant to everything I throw at it, but it also has effects of energy dispersal, energy disruption, energy nullification, and energy absorption… I am afraid that we'll have to let my husband have a go at it, with his golden mana, he can surely ignore all of this" Helena cracked her neck, walking over to Ilona.

"By the way, I don't think you have seen Griar since he was born, that little fellow is one adorable devil, and I am sure he'll be thrilled to have someone's else's hair to pull on with his little hands" these words managed to force a small, soft smile on the otherworlder's face.

"That little guy, huh? That name still feels a little weird to use…"

"Honestly, I wasn't for it, but it was very important for Milo, they used to be pretty good friends, and although they hadn't known each other for that long, his death really hit him hard, so what can I do? I could only agree to pay respect to his memory"

Then, Helena gave Ilona a look that didn't even need accompanying words to be understood.

"You are a bit younger than me, but not by that much… When are you planning on having children of your own?" Ilona did not know why, but for some reason, women with children were intent on convincing those without to push out spawnlings as well.

"First of all, let's not use the plural there… And I feel like I already had this conversation many times, but I don't want any kid! And is now the time to be talking about this? We are at war!"

"Also, I am not so old that it won't be an option soon… And I am a powerful warrior, such things don't apply to me in the same manner anyways"

"If you say so… I too wasn't exactly fond of the idea at first, but once Lizi was born, my outlook completely changed! And now, look at me, my house is full of them, and it probably won't stop being the case any time soon, me and Milo are still plenty ferti-"

"Whoa, hey now- That's a bit much…" the usually stoic otherworlder was completely flustered now, which meant that Helena had been successful, she much preferred when others expressed themselves freely like this and didn't stuck themselves inside of walls, which was something both Antieeld and Ilona seemed fond of doing, focusing too much on distant and foggy goals, forgetting about the present they were currently experiencing.

It was hard to accept, but Helena felt that raising her own children had made her see others more like kids, and she couldn't help but want to make them smile.

Unfortunately, she was well aware that what burdened them would not be so easily shaken off, in fact, it probably would never go away, both on the path of arduous vengeance, her husband had been like this at first as well, but the birth of Lizi, Louizon, Alize, Zaya, Zally and Griar had given him something that he deemed more important, and he had changed for the better.

'What men around could convince them to have children with them?'

The natives of the realm were friendly, and many other refugees had coupled with some of them, but these two girls were the sort that needed to know that their interlocutor understood where they were coming from.

'Mmh… I'll have to ask for Milo's assistance to set them up…'

Whilst Helena plotted, many others attempted to pierce the steel.

The elemental champions might not be as powerful as she was, but they had affinities for other elements that might just not have been accounted for in the creation of this special steel.

Failure was all it ended up in however, working together, they were able to achieve something similar to her though, they were very familiar with each other and the inner mana of their fellows, so they could work together in a single mana construct, and achieve a transcend-level spell, but even then, it was not enough.

Toby continuously used his appraisal ability on the steel, chipping away at whatever was shielding it from his analysis, William's light spells were not potent enough, the death hunters lacked the brute force, although Tappduur could hit hard, even his demonic strength was insufficient.

The same was true for the quartet, the users of holy energy and all of the talent holders present, the undead had been thorough in their creation, having somehow made it resistant and prepared to everything they could throw at it.

"Maybe Spula can concoct something acidic to eat through this slab?" spoke Rummy.

"It's worth a shot… But first-"

Milo stepped forward, cracking his knuckles.

It was time to allow gold to have a crack at it.
