Chapter 209: Where It All Began: Apophis Cleopatra

From the edge of a towering cliff, Omega, Gamma, and Zuri gazed down upon the vast expanse of land spread out before them. Down below, a horde of grotesque creatures resembling decaying boars on stilts, topped with horse heads bristling with razor-sharp teeth, launched an assault on a colossal monster boasting four arms, a demonic visage, and a serpentine body. The trio observed the chaotic battle unfolding, Zuri’s expression betraying a hint of revulsion.

"It’s weird to think that our monsters were less ugly..."

"What’s really weird is that everything here is at least S-rank," Gamma growled. "This continent lives in the maximum difficulty every day."

Omega’s gaze sharpened as he observed the monster devouring one of the small creatures in a swift motion.

"The strong live and the weak die, it’s like that everywhere... and it’s just perfect for us."

Gamma extended his arms, flexing his fingers, as his eyes emitted a crimson glow.

"The pressure doesn’t reach that place, so let’s get started."

The massive beast clasped two smaller creatures in its monstrous grip, swinging them wildly through the air. Suddenly, a dark sphere materialized before its face, steadily expanding in size.

The helpless creature could only emit sorrowful cries as it was engulfed by the growing orb. Meanwhile, the smaller monsters hastily retreated, seeking refuge from the impending danger.

However, their respite was short-lived, as a mystical circle manifested in the sky, unleashing a torrential rain of lightning upon them.

The land was ravaged, and the earth revealed its hidden secret: at least fifty more monstrous beings emerged from their subterranean hiding places, appearing from every direction.

In the face of this overwhelming horde, the two Personas unleashed their explosive aura. They stood prepared for an epic clash. Meanwhile, Zuri turned her back and embarked on her journey towards Freya’s group.

Meanwhile, in the elf’s kingdom, the massive door swung open, and it revealed a gateway to an expansive chamber from a realm beyond. The floor resembled an infinite ocean, adorned with only a handful of gentle ripples. Despite being underground, the ceiling resembled a celestial sky, adorned with thousands of lights resembling stars, orbiting around a central moon.

The room itself was astonishingly vast, with two rows of statues standing in formation, guiding the intruders towards a chilling structure that sent shivers down their spines.

Their hearts raced, as if in sync with each other, while time appeared to be frozen. Isis moved closer, her hands gently intertwining in a gesture of prayer.

"Mother, these are the visitors you wanted to meet."

The elves repeated the same action, eyes shut and hands intertwined, facing the stunned crowd. Before them, a woman with flowing hair and no mouth knelt in front of a statue of a woman holding a vase and a book.

She whispered a few words, likely a prayer, before lifting her head without looking their way. Suddenly, a gentle voice filled the air.

"Hm, thank you very much, my dear."

As the woman rose gracefully, her bare feet touched the water-like ground. With a gentle movement, she faced them, and in a breathtaking instant, her emerald eyes met theirs.

"I was looking forward to meeting you, dear guests."

With elongated ears, dark skin, and hair as black as the shadows, draped in a flowing veil of silk, the mythical fifth transcendental being made her grand entrance before the astonished onlookers.

"My name is Apophis Cleopatra, but I suppose you know me better as the Avatar of Envy."

The group stood in awe as they gazed upon the woman standing before them, completely captivated by her otherworldly allure. They had heard tales of her beauty, but nothing could have prepared them for the sheer impact of seeing her in person.

Beauty? It was just a word, but in her presence, it became tangible and overwhelming. As she delicately raised her right hand to her chin, every gesture she made exuded an effortless elegance and impeccable timing. It was as if they were witnessing the culmination of all the marvels the world had to offer, condensed into a single being.

"EHEM! The Queen has introduced herself!" Isis let out a sudden cough, snapping everyone back to the present moment.

"Ah!... Eh... my apologies." Freya flinched.

She gently rested her hand on her chest, elegantly stepped forward with one foot, and performed a graceful curtsy.

"It is an honor to meet you, my Queen. If it suits you, I will introduce myself. My name is..."

"Freya Astaroth."

The young girl stood motionless, her gaze initially steady, but gradually she blinked and shifted her attention towards the queen.

"Don’t bother with the introduction, my dear, I already know you. And behind you are... two nameless orphans, Marie and Liliana, a boy with a lot of regrets, Hope Balder, and... a human very interesting."

The room fell into a stunned silence as everyone stood there, unable to find the right words to express their shock. Eryl clenched her teeth tightly, her eyes filled with anger as she glared at the Queen, who chuckled softly, seemingly unaffected by the tense atmosphere.

"...You...you know us?" Hope murmured.

The Queen turned her gaze towards him and then tilted her head to the side.

"...Interesting...Young boy...this is the first time I’ve seen you...but it seems like my essence is growing inside you. I’m very curious about your story."

Hope was slightly surprised when he realized he was now the focal point of everyone’s attention. He maintained eye contact with her until a hand came too close to his face.

"What do you have in mind that makes your soul wonder so close to the bitterness of jealousy?"

Hope stood frozen, unable to move or respond. However, the moment a finger grazed his forehead, his thoughts vanished into thin air.

"I am a coward without power or success. All my life I envied my friend because he was better than me, I envied his power, his life, and the girls around him. My sister was very close to him and that made me even more envious, but I’m weak and cowardly and because of that my sister died and no one blamed me so I feel worse."
