Chapter 190: Asylum
Chapter 190: Asylum
From a distance, Dora and Gloria stood like statues, their bodies poised and ready for the imminent clash. The tension between them was palpable, as if the very atmosphere crackled with electricity.
Their eyes, sharp and focused, never wavered, studying every minute detail of their opponent. In those fleeting moments, the world seemed to hold its breath, aware of the impending storm about to be unleashed.
The parliamentarians, Agharita, and every other department within each city anxiously awaited the outcome, their collective breath held in anticipation.
The news had swiftly permeated every corner of the Kingdom, igniting a sense of urgency and trepidation. It was no longer a mere possibility or a potential outcome; it had become an undeniable reality.
The clash between two Sin Avatars was imminent, and there was no other reason for their presence but to face each other in a battle of epic proportions.
Gloria opened her eyes wide, the ground vibrating beneath her.
"Just focus on getting Solaria and Ratoncia back, I’ll take care of him."
The maids nodded, standing on guard.
"Whenever you’re ready, brat. You look so insignificant that you need a hostage, I might as well give you a free punch."
Dora stretched out his arms and then slowly raised his right hand to the sky. The sun’s warm rays bathed his skin, casting a golden glow on his outstretched fingers.
"Insignificant? Of course, that’s how I attract my victims. This will be your final lesson: don’t be afraid of the attack you can see, fear the one that keeps charging."
High above, the heavens split open, revealing a sinister sight: five ominous black holes materialized in the ethereal expanse. One star emerged from each of these cosmic voids, hurtling towards Dora.
The deafening sound of impact echoed through the air as the projectiles collided on the platform. Candace reflexively shielded her eyes, then slowly tried to lower her arms, smoke preventing her from seeing around her. But ahead, she saw Dora’s shadow, his hand still raised, then, a shadow stood to her right.
"... Uh?!"
The maids flinched, all taking a step back. Nosfera narrowed her eyes.
"My Queen..."
"I know."
Through the thick haze of smoke, two shadowy figures stealthily maneuvered around Candace’s protective bubble. As the smoke gradually dissipated, Dora’s arms slowly descended.
"Now... everyone... allows me to introduce... the full extent of the Avatar of Greed, behold: the swarm." Two people stood on either side, their eyes glowing purple and blue.
"Swarm? Did he just call us insects?" grumbled the boy with red eyes.
"Very accurate, but lacking in styles... hm, let’s stick to Personas for now." The orange-eyed boy laughed.
"You can be anything you want, as long as you can do the work." Said the blue-eyed figure.
"... Are we gonna ignore this technique’s name was Asylum?" The green-eyed figure clenched his fists.
The final figure, with piercing purple eyes, remained silent, and as the smoke gradually dissipated, an extraordinary tableau was unveiled, leaving all in awe.
Positioned before the prison bubbles were six Doras, each exuding a unique aura that seemed to radiate with an otherworldly glow. However, what truly caught the attention was the striking contrast in their appearances.
Their hair varied in shades of grey, ranging from the deepest dark to the lightest hues, while their eyes shimmered in a mesmerizing kaleidoscope of colors, blue, red, purple, orange, green, and white for the main Dora.
They all locked eyes with the Queen, whether it be with a smile, anguish, or disdain.
"Interesting, you are spreading like a real parasite, I will enjoy killing you several times."
The Personas each displayed a unique reaction to the situation unfolding before them. The individual with piercing purple eyes exhibited a clear expression of anger, in stark contrast, the figure with vibrant orange eyes simply chuckled. Meanwhile, the Persona with striking green eyes suddenly turned around, their gaze locking onto Candace.
"... Ma’am?! Why are you imprisoned?!"
Candace, paralyzed by the scene until now, felt her heart racing. The Dora who answered showed a clearly distressed and worried face and the way he called triggered a dormant memory in her.
"... Beta?" She whispered.
"A hamster ball for a short stack... how ironic." The orange-eyed Dora laughed. "What happened, Grandma? Are you in solitary confinement for crazy habits?"
"... Sigma?! You... all of you... you’re..."
"Focus, gentlemen!" the main Dora, with white eyes, interrupted them. "We have a lady to turn into a corpse."
All the Personas turned to the Queen, each with a different expression.
"Don’t forget the importance of this battle. She and her minions have caused us immeasurable harm and have made her a prime target on our hit list. It’s time to change the rules of the game: the objective is to eliminate every single one of our adversaries but with different means. Don’t kill the maid with black hair. Don’t kill the fox too quickly. Kill the cat after making her understand that she will die. The one who delivers the fatal blow to the Queen wins and will claim her soul. If we must resort to plan B, victory will be mine. With the rules set, let the bloodshed commence."
The quintet leaped from the elevated surface and landed a few meters in front of the Queen, unleashing a powerful energy that caused dust and stones to swirl around them.
The air quivered, making the maids flinch and struggle to maintain their composure. Amidst the chaos, the Queen’s gaze remained unwaveringly fixed on the main Dora, who stayed on the platform.
"I see... so you must be the core."
In one quick motion, she raised her hand and pointed two fingers upward, triggering a transparent wall.
Instantly, an invisible explosion hit the shield, releasing a powerful shockwave and sending the maids to their knees.
"Damn... how did she see it?!" Sigma groaned.
Gloria waved her right hand, dispelling the dust.
"A dirty trick? As expected of a bastard."
A vein appeared on Sigma’s forehead.
"Yeah, fuck it."
The atmosphere underwent a complete metamorphosis, leaving behind a landscape ravaged by the remnants of warfare.
Broken weapons lay strewn across the desolate terrain, while in the distance, massive chains, spears, and swords stood tall, firmly embedded in the earth. Above the Queen, the five materialized from different directions.
With a simple gesture of clasping two fingers, the Queen signaled the end of the waiting period, officially initiating the battle of the titans.
