Chapter 158: A Day For Fools

Chapter 158: A Day For Fools

It was a windy afternoon. In a cemetery, Hope was sitting in front of a grave.

A bouquet of flowers was in his hands, and his head remained lowered.

He revealed his right hand to give air to the grip on his late guardian’s glasses, ignoring the shadow behind him.

"Are you really going to do this every day?" Cid asked his hands in his pocket.

The wind blew harder, but no response came from his interlocutor.

Cid took a deep breath and walked towards Hope, stopping right behind him.

"I won’t give you any advice or criticism, but think about it. It was his choice, his decision, everything he did was on his own terms. I know you two were very close, so I’m sure that you understand his choice better than anyone else.

He waited a few seconds, but seeing no reaction from Hope, he resorted to more powerful means.

"You are a very strange guy, you come here every day, but you have never been to Elizabeth’s gra..."

In an instant, Hope was at his throat.

With heavy breathing, his red eyes attacked Cid like the deadliest weapon, but the young man was unphased.

"So this is the limit? At least now I know you’re still alive in this shell."

"Leave me alone..."

"I have for the last few weeks, but now I think you need to wake up."

"I’ve hit my head against a wall enough to know I’m not in a nightmare. Leave me alone."

They looked into each other’s eyes for a few seconds, then Hope let go of Cid and turned to sit in front of Thomas’ grave.

They stayed like that for a moment, Cid keeping his eyes glued to Hope’s back.

"It’s really weird. I didn’t like the guy, I hate it when people always tell me what to do or how to act. I also remember him being harsh with me a lot because I was trained by Iris, I loved bothering him with that."

He stopped and looked at the sky.

"But in the end... I was just an idiot. He was just a fool in love, and to make matters worse, the girl wasn’t even interested in me. But this guy still defended me even though I was stupid enough to do it... attack a... monster."

Hope raised his head, looking behind him for the first time.

"You know... the more I think about it, the more I think we were chosen by the Gods. If I had touched him that day, maybe I would have been the one in the grave now. What a crazy guy... somehow I envied you."

"You? You envied me?"

"Your entourage, just your entourage. You and that guy seemed like two idiots, but at least he cared about you... You were like brothers in a way, while my guardian showed me day after day her disappointment. She stopped training me after the Undead Rift and she barely spoke to me after this guy’s name became popular, as for my noble, she tried to get rid of me after the first week, she always blamed me and she never hid that she wanted to have him instead. I was just the village idiot."

Hope stood up and faced him.

"But you’re stronger than me, you just need to train more."

"You know the problem with elites? Big isn’t enough, they only see the top, always. What do you do when their eyes are always on him? How do I look compared to him? You think I have a chance?"

Hope looked down, both looking at the ground and then at Thomas’ grave.

Cid, with a little smile

"I don’t know if he was the bravest or just an idiot, but he faced him twice despite the power difference. I’m a little angry, I feel like he just decided to give up on life because of Iris."

"He wasn’t... I don’t know what he was dealing with inside... But the Thomas who came to help me was ready to face life, erase the past, and become someone new... so why?"

"Erasing the past? Is that really a path... Hm... well, I guess he showed us that the conclusion wasn’t pretty."

Cid turned his back, facing the road leading to the entrance.

"Don’t stay too down, you bear his name so live to make it persist over time... and be smart, you, me, we’re not in the same world as this guy and we’ve seen what is going to happen."

Hope looks at him, the breeze blowing through their hair.

"Are you kidding, are you worried about me? What’s the point, I’m just a useless piece of shit..."

"Yes, you are normal. This is something very rare in this kingdom. It will get very crazy if we lose any more comic actors."

He started to walk away; watched in the distance by Hope petrified to see someone other than Cid having this kind of conversation.

"You have great people around you, cherish them more and pay attention to the girl."

"... Eh... I won’t have any problems there, she already hates me."

"Exactly!" He said loudly, triggering Hope. "She has nothing to do with you, she wasn’t there for you, so she has no right to use you. They want Dora to kill someone close to them to see if it brings back his memory, so do as I do and beware of the shameless noble brat, don’t let them use you!"

He took a few more steps and disappeared on the horizon.

Hope looked at the road for a moment and then looked back at Thomas’ grave.

His fists clenched, and he was trembling.

"Why... is this allowed? How am I wrong? What kind of madness is this?"

Deep in thought, he couldn’t notice the girl behind the three a few meters behind him, leaning on her back and looking up at the sky.

Later, many people gathered in a room inside the arena, bringing a large bag containing a heavy object and placing it near a row of other bags.

With dead eyes, they noted the information of the lifeless objects and took their outfits.

From another room separated by a glass window, Lisa and Maxim, their faces asleep, looked out at the landscape.

"Damn, how many idiots are there left for today?" The girl moaned.

Crouching in his chair, Maxim took a piece of paper and read its contents.

"7 for today, but this may increase if there are volunteers."

"Damn, if they’re going to die anyway, why not send them all at once?! I’m sick of seeing so many dead bodies... I’m sick of this bullshit... all of this because they erased his memory."

She crouched down as well, looking at the empty seat next to them.

"Hm, and of course, that stupid E-rank isn’t coming back. She should just go and get killed too, at least I’ll have fun."

"Don’t talk like that about Miss Sunnah, she’s a pure girl, she’s too refined for this job, plus, if we had to choose someone, it should definitely be a boy like Frank, Marcel, Romuald or even Bario."

"Why am I still with this bastard? Maybe you should die too so he remembers... oh..." She froze for a moment then slowly directed her red irises towards Maxim, who was busy writing a letter.

"Hey, Max, you don’t think this whole situation is bullshit?"

"Hm?"

He looked up at her and was startled when he saw the girl’s ardent gaze.

"I mean, the Twilight of the Gods, who knows how long it will take a player to come here? If that happens, we’ll die, isn’t that a shitty life? I don’t want to die without tasting many things."

She leaned back, clearly showing her thighs. Maxim started to sweat.

"What do you mean, many things?"

"I mean, ahn, things like good things, you know... Good booze, a good hotel, a movie, and relaxing... You know in a hotel room, no one knows what’s happening, then we can do it. whatever we want... we can go wild." She crossed her legs, giving him a clear pantieshoot.

Maxim dropped his pen, his lips trembling. He didn’t even try to hide his emotion, looking into Lisa’s sacred garden.

"UH uh uh..."

"Hey, big Max, something’s bothering me..." She stood up and walked beside him, leaning next to his left ear, the boy feeling her breath deep inside him.

"I don’t want to die a virgin."

It was enough to shatter any form of sanity in Maxim. He stood up, knocked over his chair, and jumped at the girl but hit an invisible wall.

"UUurgh... What... what is that?!"

"Hehe, calm down, big guy, we’re in no hurry... This kitty isn’t going anywhere."

She used her magic to create a wall between them and proceeded to kiss it, making Maxim’s hormones boil even more.

"PLEASE! PLEASE! Open this wall! I’ll do anything! ANYTHING!"

"Hmm? Really anything?" She leaned forward and pulled back her cleavage, providing a display of her bra.

Maxim moved against the wall like an animal.

"Then... I need you to do something for me. If you help me, it’ll be yours." she massaged her breasts and stuck out her tongue, Maxim fell to his knees, tears in his eyes.

"I am your slave! I will serve you!!!! Please tell me what you want!!!"

With a smile on her face, she leaned towards him, separated only by the wall.

"I want to try a new skill on Dora."
