Chapter 133: Turning Point
Chapter 133: Turning Point
The sun rose over the horizon, illuminating the room, the scene of a drama. Zuri finished rearranging her hair in front of the mirror and collected her clothes from the floor.
She had brought a change of pajamas and was putting her nightgown in a bag.
She walked to the door, but just as she was about to put her hand on the handle, a noise made her flinch.
"... Eh ?"
Behind her, Dora, covered in bruises and bites, was in a fighting stance.
"... D-Dora?"
"... I... I didn’t hear... No bell..."
Zuri, back to her old self, was embarrassed by the pathetic state Dora was in.
She rubbed her index fingers and looked away.
"Eh... Um... I... I’m so sorry... I... I don’t know how that could happen... I wasn’t myself."
She looked at the ground like a child who had just made a mistake.
She turned her gaze to him, but the boy with a very serious voice made him sign with his hand to come closer.
"Come."
"Hey?... B-b-but, Dora... it’s... it’s morning..."
"I didn’t ask you to stammer and I don’t care if it’s morning, evening, or Monday. You think you can destroy my honor and walk away freely? You think I’m going to sleep with this shameful situation? We’re not finished, round 2!"
He jumped at her with his sword finger pose, Zuri screamed in fear and crouched down, waiting for her divine punishment.
But it was a simple pat on the head that greeted her. She opened her eyes and in front of her, the boy whose wounds were healing was smiling, with his sinister yellow gaze.
"And... The curtain falls, congratulations."
She looked at him, trembling a little, then calmed down and looked away.
"Hm? Why are you shy now? After what you did, you shouldn’t act like a sheep anymore. This rage, this madness... For a second, I really wondered if I’d ever done something bad enough to you to make you lash out at me so much. I am a sin, but you were more sinful than me."
"I don’t need your insults... I know what I did, and I won’t ask anyone to forgive me... I did what I wanted... I sacrificed everyone... for an illusion. Just end it."
She lowered her head, ready to pay for her sin in blood. Her eyes suddenly filled with deep melancholy, but once again, Dora raised her head.
"End? What do you mean end? Didn’t I say it was for the sake of a negotiation?"
"And I’m not playing your little game anymore... Kill me."
"So you’re the type of person who goes back on their words? Geez, that suits you... But I didn’t go that far just for another head."
"I won’t be your toy."
Dora sighed and walked towards his bed.
"As if you’d never been... But it’s okay, I’ve done enough, I know you’ll come back, sooner or later."
He clapped his hands and light engulfed the room. Zuri opened her eyes and, to her surprise, the room was back to normal.
Dora, in his pajamas, lay down on the bed, raising his arms, leaving the girl confused.
"What are you doing?"
"I’m going back to my cage, of course, I’m a fair negotiator."
She remained on the ground for a moment, unable to understand his intentions.
"... What?... Why? You... You said you’d run away... You said you’d kill me."
"I didn’t say when... But for now, let’s just say I found a more interesting game."
Zuri stood up, her eyes widening. Was it a trick? A joke? The boy was there, lying quietly on his bed. What could its objective be?
She walked slowly towards him, her anxiety growing.
"I... I’m going to tell everything! I’m going to tell the others that you’re planning something."
"Okay, let me know when you tell them what happened last night. I’ll be your witness."
"... What are you planning? Why would you want to be chained again? What exactly are you planning?"
Dora slowly opened his eyes, and a wide smile spread across his face. He seemed to be pleased with something. The girl, who was standing in front of him, started to shake in frustration, which only amused him more. As he sat up, the sunlight shone on his face, and his eyes began to sparkle with excitement.
"It’s always the same thing... a little game," he said with a hint of sarcasm.
Despite his mocking tone, Dora’s energy was infectious, and it filled the room. He continued speaking, his voice growing stronger with each word.
"I’m putting everything on the line, but I’ll do what I told everyone. You’ll be begging me to take over."
There was a sense of determination in his voice that was hard to ignore. He seemed to be ready to take on the world and his dire situation was a warning that at this point, he was ready for any sacrifice.
"Tell the others that I took over one last time, to make you pay for the consequences of my confinement."
The girl was taken aback by his words.
"What?!"
The building began to shake, alarming all the emissaries in the building. They couldn’t feel any energy or pressure, and therefore because of a spell of Dora blocking any emanation of energy from the room to the outside, but they knew that the shaking was his doing.
Dora put the chains back on himself and gave Zuri one last smile.
"This is the last time we see each other... in this form, now wish me a safe journey and witness the infinity of Greed: Asylum."
A jet of energy invaded the room.
The door opened, and Candace, Freya, and a few emissaries entered the room with a start. Looking panicked, they observed the strange scene of Zuri, standing in front of Dora’s bed.
The girl was frozen, silently staring at the boy whose gaze was turning towards them.
"Wh-what... Zuri, stay away from him!" The dean shouted, but no one in the room moved.
Dora frowned and tilted his head to the side.
"... Oldster? Why?... I’m not going to eat her."
He then looked at Freya for a long moment, then back at Zuri, and finally at Candace. He took a thoughtful pose and widened his eyes.
"Holy... How long did I sleep?"
