Chapter 139: Endgame (6)

"Let us see how you like that!"

Riku’s eyes widened. Vyon’s clawed hand, wreathed in crimson energy, was about to shatter Arnold’s protective bubble. There was no time to think, only to act.

Blink [-10 Goodwill Points]

In the space between one heartbeat and the next, Riku vanished. He reappeared directly between Vyon’s attack and Arnold’s bubble, his arms crossed in a desperate block.

The impact was immediate..

Riku felt the force slam into him, a brutal, physical blow that bypassed his magical defenses. His bones groaned in protest, and he was sent flying backward, skidding across the stone floor and crashing into the far wall of the cavern. Arnold, safe within his bubble, stared in horror.

"A foolish, sentimental move!" Vyon roared, already charging again.

Riku pushed himself to his feet, a trickle of blood running from the corner of his mouth. He was furiously racking his brains, searching for a solution. Direct magic was useless; Vyon’s aura absorbed it. His Mana Shield was cracking under the sheer brute force. Evasion could only last so long.

"Damn it, am I going to lose to a fucking brute who knows nothing but to attack?" Riku cursed internally, unable to find any solution.

"Yes, he is fighting just like a berserker who is immune to magic. How do we ever defeat him?" Clara spoke, clearly disheartened with how things were going right now.

"WAIT A GODDAMN SECOND!" Riku’s eyes suddenly shone.

"Huh?" Clara asked, confused.

"I can use Berserker skills myself, right?" Riku spoke with a smile finally forming on his lips.

"You can?" Clara asked, her voice rising at the surprise.

Just how many skills could this young lad use?

"Yep, just watch."

RIku closed his eyes nad started channeling a new skill.

Berserker King’s Dance [-2000 Goodwill points]

A faint, reddish aura started to emanate from him. But this was different from the creep’s aura, extremely malevolent and borderline unstable.

It was the aura of a king.

The air around him seemed to thicken. His eyes, once calm and calculating, now burned with a primal, furious red glow. He felt his muscles coil and tense, brimming with an explosive strength that demanded release.

"More cheap tricks?" Vyon sneered and lunged forward, his claws aimed for Riku’s head.

This time, Riku didn’t dodge.

He met the attack head-on. His forearm slammed into Vyon’s claw, stopping the attack dead.

A sickening crunch of bones echoed through the cavern. The monstrous Vyon, for all his enhanced power, stumbled back, his arm hanging at an unnatural angle, his single red eye wide with shock.

"What?!" Vyon gasped, surprised by the sudden surge in Riku’s physical strength.

But Riku was already on him. He exploded forward, a blur of motion. He was faster. Stronger. He ducked under a wild swing from Vyon’s other arm and drove his fist into the monster’s gut. The sound was like a hammer hitting solid rock. Vyon was lifted off his feet, flying across the chamber and crashing into the wall.

Vyon, however, was no weakling. The crimson energy around him pulsed violently, and his broken arm snapped back into place with a wet crackle. He roared, charging back at Riku. "So you have some brute strength too! Good!"

"Show me what you have got."

The fight became a brutal, earth-shaking brawl. They traded blows, each impact sending shockwaves through the cavern and cracking the stone floor beneath them. Riku deflected a clawed strike, the force sending him skidding back several feet. Vyon took a devastating punch to the jaw that sent him reeling, but he recovered almost instantly, his Creep-enhanced body shrugging off the damage.

For a few moments, they were locked in a perfect, violent stalemate.

Vyon laughed, a ragged, monstrous sound. "Is this all you have? This berserker power... it’s impressive, I’ll admit. But it has a time limit! Soon, your strength will fade, your body will give out, and then I will tear you apart, piece by piece!"

In response, Riku just gave him a terrifying, evil smile.

Then he attacked again. But this time, something was different. His blows were heavier. His speed was greater. The oppressive pressure he emitted intensified.

The tide of the battle turned. Vyon, who had been trading blows evenly just moments before, was now being pushed back. Riku’s relentless assault gave him no room to breathe, no time to regenerate. A brutal kick shattered Vyon’s knee. A punch to the jaw sent a tooth flying. A frenzied barrage of fists cracked his crimson plating.

"What is this?!" Vyon roared in a mixture of fury and confusion, blocking a punch that nearly broke his arm again. "Your power... it’s not fading! It’s getting stronger!"

He stumbled back, trying to create distance, but Riku was on him in an instant. With a final, devastating blow, Riku slammed his fist into Vyon’s chest. The impact was immense. Vyon’s armor plating shattered, and he was blasted off his feet, crashing into the floor and leaving a long skid mark before coming to a stop in a broken, twitching heap.

Riku stood over him, breathing heavily, the primal red glow in his eyes slowly receding, replaced by a cold, calculating calm.

"You’re right, Vyon," Riku said, his voice quiet. "A normal berserker’s rage burns out. It’s a candle burning at both ends." He knelt down, looking into the monster’s terrified eye. "But mine is different. It is that of a Berserker King.

"What? A Berserker King? You have the strength of a Berserker King? How is that even possible?"

Vyon trembled.

Berserker Kings were no ordinary berserkers. Ordinary berserkers were like a spark, displaying outbursts of power before fading out. However, the Kings were very different.

They were like furnaces. The longer they burned, the hotter they became, only limited by how much time they could keep themselves sane and how long the enemy would last.

They were deeply feared, even by the most powerful of mages, who would try to end the fight as soon as possible or run away. There was no known way to outlast a Berserker King.

"No, you are lying. You are a mere human. You cannot have such power."

Vyon roared and lunged again. Riku only smirked slightly, giving Vyon another clothesline. Vyon could only fall back to the ground, multiple bones of his body broken.

"This is the end."

Riku raised his fist for the final, crushing blow that would end it all, but suddenly, he was greeted by a message.

Ding!
