Part-time Boss
Chapter 44 - 44 44 Sleepless Night in Dalaran

44: Chapter 44 Sleepless Night in Dalaran 44: Chapter 44 Sleepless Night in Dalaran As everyone rushed out of the Violet Hold, they were met with a sight that left them utterly dumbstruck.

Thousands of black dragons swirled in the sky, cloaking it like a blanket.

Fire rained down from above, and explosions erupted one after another.

The clamor of alarms, the howling of magic being fired from the Magical Towers converged into chaos.

Adding to the mayhem, some reckless Mages had even begun opening portals right in the plaza, fully armed Adventurers pouring out, shouting all manner of incomprehensible catchphrases.

Things like dropping equipment, fighting the boss, premium materials, and taking on the dragon bro.

This chaotic scene made Antonidas’s veins bulge with anger, his white beard almost standing on end.

“Admiral Dalyn, please stay in the castle with your daughter; this place is the safest.

Everyone else, prepare for battle immediately, Master Kel’Thuzad—activate the city’s Guardian Barrier!

“Prince Kael’thas, lead the combat Mages into the Magical Tower.

We cannot allow these black dragons to wreak havoc at will.

“Krasus—hm, where did Krasus go?”

——————

Flame Breath—scorching the land!

The towering Magical Towers were instantly engulfed by flames, and even the magical barriers couldn’t protect the Mages inside.

The burning blast demolished the towers, and the Mages within were scattered through the air like fireworks.

After completing a triple-charge of Dragon Breath, Morphis watched his handiwork with satisfaction.

The dozen Magical Towers on the northern outskirts of Dalaran had all been destroyed in the first wave of attack.

Morphis (Ancient Black Dragon): “Well done, brothers.

Destroy the enemy’s defenses and follow me into the city!”

Boom!

The city gate was smashed open by a colossal siege dragon creature, swarms of monsters surged in, storming the streets of Dalaran, killing and setting fires everywhere.

Dalaran had known peace for too long, and its city guard had failed to react in time.

As citizens screamed and scattered in every direction, the city’s Swordmage Legion had yet to complete assembly.

Instead, some Adventurers who had received the news joined the battle.

However, in the face of the overwhelming number of monsters, they were quickly eliminated.

Morphis (Ancient Black Dragon): “That’s right, kill them all!

Crush them!

Attack, keep attacking!”

Morphis roared, rallying the monsters, but his gaze swept through the city, searching.

There were four large treasuries in Dalaran, including a particularly eye-catching one inside the Violet Hold, which undoubtedly contained the finest treasures—Book of Medivh, Scepter of Sargeras, Eye of Dalaran…

all the most potent Divine Artifacts were hidden there.

However, Mo Fei wasn’t planning on attacking that location.

The defense of the Violet Hold was surely the tightest, and he would likely be killed before he could even breach it.

His target was the ancient treasury located in the old city area to the north.

This treasury was one of the earliest established by Dalaran.

And generally, in the world of fantasy, the older something was, the more powerful it tended to be.

A purple tinted brilliant magi-guided beam shot out, piercing the heart of an unlucky black dragon whelp, which fell to its death.

Mo Fei’s heart tightened as he witnessed the activation of one Magical Tower after another within the inner city, knowing his opportunity was fleeting.

Morphis (Ancient Black Dragon): “Follow me, Black Dragon Lords!

Victory is within sight.”

Terhalosen (Black Dragon Lord): “Go ahead, Morphis, we’ll back you up.”

Samerfield (Black Dragon Lord): “I’m right behind you, Morphis, let’s fight side by side!”

Moritrisa (High Black Dragon Lord): “For the Black Dragon Legion!”

The Black Dragon Lords behind him roared in unison, their momentum shaking the heavens.

Facing the onslaught of the Black Dragon Legion, Antonidas’s complexion turned ashen.

He had not anticipated Dalaran would fall under attack by the Black Dragon Legion.

Why was this happening?

In recent years, Dalaran hadn’t provoked the black dragons much at all, at most they had only hunted a few stray ones for their magical experiments—was that really worth this fury?

“Send the magic Gryphon Riders to strike, and have all the Magical Towers focus their attacks on those Black Dragon Lords.”

Hundreds of magic Gryphon Riders burst from the towers, and the Black Dragon Legion rushed forward to meet them.

A ferocious aerial battle erupted instantly.

The black dragons had an absolute advantage in numbers, and the combat strength of the large black dragons far exceeded that of the Gryphon Riders.

However, the Gryphon Riders received support from the Magical Towers, brandishing their Magic Wands, they cast lightning bolts and magic rays of various colors.

Nefarian, upon seeing this spectacle, felt a surge of competitiveness and darted into the sky, casting Dragon Language Magic—Rain of Meteoric Fire!

Agnes too showed off her Magical Power, casting Dragon Language Magic—Storm Descends!

The Gale howled, enormous tornadoes rampaged through the city, and a ceaseless barrage of meteors rained from the sky.

Black dragons writhed, Griffins were scattered, Magical Towers shot forth dazzling beams of destruction, monsters howled, engaged in a ferocious melee with the Adventurers—a dire spectacle as if a Dragon Calamity had come.

Morphis (Ancient Black Dragon): “Hahaha, yes, just like that, let this world burn, let it be destroyed!”

His gaze swept across the battlefield, and suddenly, a massive symbol of the Violet Eye appeared before him, marking a strangely shaped, tall building, boxy with no windows, more reminiscent of a fortress.

Morphis (Ancient Black Dragon): “That’s right, the ancient treasury of the old city district, follow me, brothers!”

He folded his wings and dived, descending rapidly toward the target.

A brave Gryphon Rider charged at him, the Dwarf atop the Griffin firing a Thunder Spear with a mighty roar.

The black dragon shrugged off the hit, grabbed the Griffin’s wings with its claws, and with a gentle tug, the now wingless beast plummeted.

Another squad of Gryphon Riders charged in, Mo Fei opened his massive jaws, spewing out surging Dragonfire, the flames illuminated the sky, and the griffins either scattered in panic or were ignited and burned to a crisp.

Three hundred meters, two hundred meters, one hundred meters, the ground was getting closer and closer.

Suddenly, a giant fire tower launched a massive meteor of flame towards the black dragon.

Morphis executed an agile dodge, avoiding the meteor while simultaneously crashing into the giant fire tower with a boom!

The huge tower instantly shattered in the air and collapsed thunderously.

Gliding on the falling debris at low altitude, Mo Fei passed over some Mages on the ground who shot fireballs and lightning at him, and the black dragon opened his wide mouth once again.

Flame Breath—Bone-Corroding Dragon Flame!

Flames spread along the street, and those who couldn’t evade in time became screaming firemen.

Morphis (Ancient Black Dragon): “My Black Dragon Lords, our target lies just ahead!” he shouted, but received no response; turning around, he realized that the several Black Dragon Lords that were following him had all disappeared without a trace.

Looking up, unsurprisingly, he found them hundreds of meters in the sky, each spewing fire intermittently.

These bastards!

Mo Fei cursed inwardly, but it didn’t matter, he had anticipated this possibility.

He headed straight for the treasury.

To avoid the Magical Tower’s attacks, he simply landed on the ground and charged violently through the city streets, reducing to rubble everything in his path.

Just after turning down a street, a group of Adventurers appeared in front of him.

Mo Fei couldn’t be bothered with them, “Out of the way, you little insects!”

“Holy shit, it’s Brother Dragon, scram for your lives!” shouted the lead Knight, and the Adventurers scattered in all directions, watching from afar.

A few who did not know their place shot arrows and cast spells from a distance, Mo Fei responded with a breath of Dragonfire, reducing them all to cinders.

Just as he was about to reach the plaza where the treasure was located, a squad of soldiers suddenly appeared in front of Mo Fei.

However, these soldiers’ battle robes did not bear the insignia of the Violet Eye but rather displayed a noble crest with a giant stone pattern.

The leading Lord sported a majestic beard, and his face was quite familiar—Ned Stark?

Mo Fei immediately laughed, wasn’t this the guild leader’s account?

Ned Stark (Earl of Rock City): “Morphis, I know you want to demolish the game, don’t be rash.

We can talk things over.

Leave Dalaran at once, immediately, or you will regret it.”

Morphis (Ancient Black Dragon): “Hahaha, you vile scum, poisonous maggots, are you commanding me?

Look around, it is your arrogant presumption that has brought this disaster.

Now that all is beyond redemption, you still think to command me?

Foolish mortal, you are utterly oblivious to your own predicament.

Tremble before Morphis’s Dragonfire!”

Seeing that the black dragon was about to make a move against him, the guild leader was instantly alarmed.

Ned Stark (Earl of Rock City): “Have you gone mad!

I spent hundreds of thousands leveling up this account, if you dare kill me…

heavens, soldiers, protect me!”

The soldiers immediately behind him took up a defensive formation, Spearmen in the front, Crossbowmen at the back.

But Mo Fei did not take them seriously.

Lord-type players were quite formidable at the later stages, having health and Basic Attributes not inferior to hero players of the same level.

Although they didn’t have as many strong Skills, they could command troops.

If they could afford an elite army, even dragons and Demons could be overthrown.

However, that required high-tier troops.

Even without the ultimate soldiers from tier five, at least get some Storm Knights, Lionheart Guards, or Silvermist Ranger shooters.

And you dare trouble me with some second-tier hired Crossbowmen and conscripted Spearmen?

It’s like you’re rushing to your own death.

Not killing you would be an insult to such a weak formation.

The black dragon spewed a gout of Dragonfire, instantly engulfing the soldiers in the front row, and the Crossbowmen fired a volley of bolts that struck the black dragon’s scales, failing even to deal damage in the double digits.

The spears broke as they stabbed into him.

Mo Fei charged forth, a dragon’s assault destroying the enemy’s formation in an instant.

He rapidly closed in on the guild leader, who in desperation swung his two-handed greatsword with all his might.

Heroic Strike!

Crack!

-375!

The damage was quite high.

Mo Fei sneered coldly, grabbed the guild leader before him, and took delight in the cruel pleasure welling up in his heart as he saw him struggling in his grip.

Ned Stark (Earl of Rock City): “Don’t eat me, please don’t eat me!”

Morphis (Ancient Black Dragon): “Eat you?

How could I possibly stomach such trash?

But you did remind me of something…”

The black dragon bit the guild leader between its large teeth, crushing down, and the guild leader let out a scream like that of a slaughtered pig.

Even reduced to 30% of the sensation, the feeling of being torn apart was still unbearably painful.

Thankfully, the agony was short-lived, as Morphis chewed Ned Stark into a mosaic within a few bites and spat it onto the ground.

So breaking the System’s rules was this simple!

A sudden insight flashed through Mo Fei’s mind.

He had tried several times to replicate the operation of breaking the System’s rules after defeating the Dawn Divine Sword, but he had failed.

Unexpectedly, he had just executed it inadvertently, and he vaguely groped towards a pattern, which might one day become his unique secret technique.

But for now, finding the treasure was the priority.
